  • Any idea what their TV's are like? Especially in comparison to the TCL and Seiki tv's we've seen on sale lately.

Also interested in that media player.

Got the 40" BAUHN LED from Aldi a few months ago. They've improved drastically vs the same on offer 3ish years ago from Aldi. We paid $222 for 40", so you might want to factor that in. They're not perfect at colour reproduction, so just buy it, check it out.. and remember they have a 60 day no question asked return policy.

      • Hey qldmike. I got one from Aldi too but mine has a DVD player integrated. I don't know if the PVR functionality is the same as yours but I have not been able to work out how to make it record for a set period of time, i.e. I want the tv to record a channel for another hour. It seems I can only set it to record and it will record until I manually stop it recording later on (which is usually the next morning when I get up).

Do you know how to make it record for a set time? TBH, I find the PVR functionality of it to be very ordinary and the "record a show from Xpm to Ypm on channel Z" to rarely work for me.

        TIA

  • From a distance it looks like a decent troque wrench at a cheap price

      • Tonester - if you don't mind how do you quote those internal links (where do I find the "node/119344#comment-1634069" info? Thanks.

I asked that very same question a while back. See the bottom of this page, the "link to a comment" section:

Note that the symbol doesn't appear unless you hover your mouse over the line with the commenter's name.

        • @Russ: Thanks Russ.

Let me rephrase that for the negger:
From a distance it looks like an indecent torque wrench at a cheap price.

      Edit - Deja vu, Pavlov

I have the rechargeable work light - magnetic and directional so very useful and bright for working on cars. 5v rechargeable too. The strobe feature is great for little kids' impromptu dancing as well!

    • That rechargeable light looks useful. Too bad my bonnet is aluminium so the magnetic mount won't work

  • Anyone know how that car paint scratch remover works?

    • It's like clear fingernail polish. It fills the scratch with clear "paint", which makes it much harder to see the scratch.

If your scratch is deep enough that it goes through to a different colour material underneath, like the primer or to bare metal or to the base plastic of your bumper bar, this product won't hide the scratch.

      • OK thanks mate.

FWIW the Food Dehydrator is worthwhile if you want to make your own beef jerky

    Here's a 'recipe' I use after trial & error:

    1. Purchase meat - I buy skirt steak in bulk from Meat Emporium
    2. Cut off excess visible fat - butchers will should do this for you
    3. Slice into thin strips (about 3 - 5 mm thick)
    4. Place cut up meat in a bowl, and coat with Teriyaki Sauce (I use Kikkoman Teriyaki Sauce). For about 1 kg meat, I use about half a bottle
    5. Coat meat with dried chilli flakes, salt (Himalayan Pink Salt is best) and onion powder.
    6. Place marinaded meat into a clip seal bag, and place in fridge overnight (or 2)
    7. Place meat strips on dehydrator and turn it on (select 12 hours if you take up all of the trays)
    8. Let meat cool (should take about 30 minutes), and then eat!
    • Nice, I've used a similar recipe before. Lately though I've just been going with a dry rub and the results are fantastic.

The only problem is, every time I make jerky, no matter how much I make, it only lasts a day or two.

    • I'm interested in getting one.

Any other opinions on this particular Food Dehydrator?
Would I better off with another brand or spending more for a better one?

      Btw, thanks for the recipe
