Not really a bargain when you can get a 150 lumens (cree Q5 emitter) led headlamp from dealextreme for $16 usd free delivery.

But then you need to wait 3 weeks before it's delivered.

    • I usually get stuff in within 7 - 10 days.

Occasionally 2 weeks but rarely more.

Record was about 3 - 4 days for a small gadget.

      • i swear it sometimes takes a week before the items go from instock to packaging and then another couple of days to get to shipped. its a sad state, but hey its free shipping.

and don't get me started when things go into waiting for supplier mode.

        • Maybe you get items faster from DX than COTD as in the past I heard people waiting more than 4 weeks for their items.

        • Longest I've waited recently is for a phone ordered from DX on the 11th Aug & received on the 24th Aug.

Last year I waited about 3 weeks for something which was obviously out of stock.

I don't think I've ever bought anything from COTD, but there are threads on Whirlpool where everyone seems to bitch about long COTD delivery times.

          • @Horizon: i've had pretty good delivery times from COTD, mind you last catchathon i got my andrew okeefe deal or no deal the next day.. its still in the wrapper haha…

but then COTD is just up the road (daildeals)

Could you post the link to that 150 lumens torch on dealextreme?

I won't say that it is a better product, but I do have a torch with the cree Q5 emitter from dealextreme and it is awesome, and btw i clarify it is $16.49 USD.

    cree q5 in a headlight:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.20763 (its a AAA battery headlight)

    • Features a Cree XR-E Q5 (WC) LED emitter
    • Powered by 3 x 1.2V/1.5V AAA batteries (sold separately)
    • 3-mode clicky switch: Lo > Mid > Hi
    • 150 lumens brightness
    • Aluminum alloy smooth reflector
    • Comfortable and secure head strap

It's interesting reading ppl's comments on this cree light.. its too damn bright.. you probably would blind someone if by looking at them.

I'd go with DX ones. 31 lumens is pretty weak for this price.

  • Wow Thnaks, Could you also recommend a good handheld torch/Flashlight?

    • the torch i had was the ultrafire 606a, you can run a search on DX to get that one, its a no fuss 2xAA powered cree q5 torch. extremely bright.. so so build quality for about 18 usd. (looks alot nicer when you have it)

Also allows you to use 1 3v CR2 battery to make a super tiny + bright torch. (brighter then a dolphin me thinks)

  • Would be much more interesting if it switches between the two LEDs automatically.

  • What a bunch of ill informed buyers. Those dealxtreme headlamps are no way near in quality to this Led Lenser. I have bought two headlamps from dealxtreme with a promise of high lumen rating but ouch, it was no way near the declare lumen rating and the quality is toy like. Don't waste your money. This Led Lenser is a very good quality and for the price, it is a bargain. I bought one while in China and I love it. It is very light and comfortable to wear (unlike the dealextreme one which will give you a headache). I have other superior headlamps from Princeton Tec and Zebralight but they are 2-3x this price.

    • You wrote: "(unlike the dealextreme one which will give you a headache)"

There are 34 headlamps listed on DX.
Which one gave you the headache?
So far I've bought 3 which have been fine.
But I'm keen to avoid the nasty one!
      http://www.dealextreme.com/search.dx/search.headlamp

      • I gave those two away simply because it was too heavy on my head when used for extended period. I am sure those DX lumen rating is 2-3x the actual lumen.

    • Well since you only purchased 2 headlamps out of their huge range its not exactly fair to say all their headlamps are 'toy like quality'. Sure they are no brand name but the ones I've gotten have been way more value for money.

I never believe the DX lumens ratings. Always go for independent test from Candlepower forums.
