  interesting concept, anyone used this before? does qi take longer to charge than wall socket? if so how much slower?

    Qi chargers in generally top out at round 1A with ~80% efficiency (i.e. 0.8A). Most phones that I'm aware of pulls ~1A with tablets pulling 2.1A.

    When you're more likely to charge your phone because it is less of a hassle (looking for the end of the cable, checking orientation for non-lighting cables, locating the socket, plugging it in) the slower charge seems to work out for me.

    Especially useful at night when you just want to dunk the phone on the charger and go to bed. It does require a somewhat precise placement though.

    p/s: Costco Ringwood might still sell this, although I don't remember the price.

    I can let you know when mine arrives.
    However I use a normal Qi charger at home (Kogan one), haven't noticed it being much slower to charge my S4. keep in mind that your phone needs to be compatible and might require the purchase of an extra card that sits on top of the battery in your phone.

    I have an S3 and the Kogan card style charger, it only charges at 500ma according to the app galaxychargecurrent, the original charger is 1000ma (1A).
