I'm under 25 & i still use it because even Google maps isnt any good in areas where there is barely any reception, so these are great at times like that, so its definitely worth getting if anybody doesnt have one
You should invest in a proper GPS app with offline maps
You're not joking…. I work with some 22yo guys who had no idea how to use a Melway until I showed them.
Made me feel ancient, and sad for them all at once.
Wow, Google Maps must have put a big dent in their profits…
People still buy these?
Imagine being a Brisbane resident connected to Optus. Can't rely on Google maps in that case (speaking from experience).
Google Maps???
A PROPER GPS doesn't rely on any internet connection whatsoever
A decent offline GPS on a smartphone is heaps cheaper than buying a street directory that is already out of date on the day that you purchase it.
I keep street directory in my car because I'm paranoid. What if my phone battery dies? What if the gps satellites go down? What if?
I've also got a fire extinguisher, sleeping bag, first aid kit and zombie bag.
What are you going to do if you're struck by sudden blindness & can't read your street directory…?
I suspect driving will be a challenge, as would using a GPS map…. Could always burn the Melways to keep warm and cook pidgeons, but the light might attract the zombies… Bit of a quandry….
Its good for planning a road trip or making sure you are not being led around the long way by a gps.
People who think they can go without a street directory surely hasn't travelled beyond main roads.
I have both and use both. I still use a old gps that I rooted to include latest maps and cameras.
I find paper maps better for larger scale perspective…doesn't "delete" small roads as you zoom out, and the Explore Australia book for getting travel ideas.
And I like google Live Traffic.

I won't neg the deal as Explore Australia is still cheap at BigW.
thanks - deal updated :)
Perhaps, for the benefit of our younger (under 30) members, you should explain what a Street Directory was. Or "is", apparently.
