1418

GREAT NEWS for heavy data users

Get an extra 1GB data for $5 a month !!

Still the best deal for unlimited in the market even with the $5 increase.

This may not suit everyone but definitely a Bonus and positive for me. Most Teleco's would increase prices and then reduce allowances but Amaysim has given something in return !!

Fine Print below:

We’re making amaysim UNLIMITED even bigger than before. From 1 September you’ll get 5GB of data, unlimited standard talk & text and voicemail all in Australia for a slightly higher price of $44.90 per month.
We reckon it’s still the one of the best unlimited mobile deals for one of the lowest prices in Australia. Best of all, you get some data breathing room, making it easy for you to do more of the stuff you love without breaking the bank.

Dont forget the current promo for 40% off Unlimited using code SAVE040. for NEW customers

    • The only problem with Spintel is the initial $50 fee for the first month! Also, Video calling is $1/min (not included in plan) so I would make sure you never accidentally make a video call…

      • None of 'unlimited calls/text' plans that I'm aware of include video calls, or MMS for that matter.
I believe, from my memory of various other plans, that the video-call price you mention is about mid-range.

I can remember accidentally clicking 'video call' on one occasion, instead of voice.
Yes, you do need to be careful.

        • boost mobile has unlimited mms idk about video calls

        • @holden93:
I didn't know that, but quite a big premium to be paid for the MMS privilege, compared to the otherwise (in practical terms, for most people) equivalent Lycamobile offer.

I'd be genuinely fascinated to know the figures relating to MMS traffic these days. Must be tiny, given other options.

        • @Tas:
I just bought a lycan sim card and bought 5 dollars worth of data to test out these bad reviews about lycan data speed and it is in fact slower then optus
2mbps if i am lucky. full reception.
i will certainly not be going with lycan mobile with these terrible speeds.
might just go spintel unlimited calls 100 text and 2.5gb data for $31

      • seems silly not to include it when you can just use skype etc to video call instead.

      @Tas Great find there!
The Spending Hacker is busy crunching some numbers but on the face of it, for people who want 4G access, this one seems to be as good as it gets.

      • Thanks, and yes.

I just Googled 'The Spending Hacker' and I take it from the linked-site logo-match with your avatar, that said site is yours.

The RSS feed suggests that the site is pretty new. Consumer blog-type sites are pretty ubiquitous now (I'm guessing!), but OzBargain technically started as a bargain-blog, so good luck to you for the future!

        • @Tas thanks for the well wishes mate :).

I've finished crunching the numbers and on the face of it, the Spintel offering seems very competitive.

However, after doing some further research, it seems like the reviews users gave to this mob are very bad indeed:
          http://www.productreview.com.au/p/spin.html

Admittedly, most of the reviews are regarding their ADSL service. Does anyone have personal experience with Spintel's mobile service and cares to share their experience with regards to call quality and especially data connectivity and speeds?

  • $5 price increase advertised as a benefit to customers?

    • The extra GB of data for an extra $5 will be of benefit to a small few, which is why I'm personally not negging this 'deal'.

EC will post anything Amaysim-related that has any potential to add to his referral-credit balance.
Let's be blunt, as relates the posting of this particular deal.

I'm not in the referral pool, but if you are signing up to Amaysim for the first time, do at least click the random-referral link.

This is a massive fail. I have this plan and use my phone for surfing on 3g all the time. I've never even come close to capping data and I'm not shy using it. Now they have basically just upped the cost $5 for data most people won't use.

  • I'm really happy with Boost $40 unlimited with Telstra. I moved from Amaysim to boost, internet is fast, great call quality/coverage + Telstra based customer support. Never hit my cap as I have wifi at home/work. I Hope they will allow 4G in the future

I somehow thought Lebara was on the Telstra network only to find out it's on Vodafone when my phone asked for an unlock code. My GF tried Lycra for 3 days, hit the internet cap and went back to her Optus postpaid sim. Maybe there charging more for data usage? Also they advertise in shop posters $10 for 300mins to some selected country’s but when asking their customer service about it they have no idea, not happy with lebara

This Amaysim deal seems nice for high data usage people that are happy optus, but for myself I'd rather be on the Telstra quality network with less data.
