Do you guys ever do deals on your Samsung Evo mSata range?

    • Yeah I'm up for a deal for a 1Tb msata!

    • +3

mSATA market is not too big in Australia (compared to SATA) which makes it hard to get a good deal on them. What price difference vs SATA models would be ozbargain worthy?

      • +2

The 1TB model can be had as low as $525 from my research (Computer Alliance).

      • Argh, pressure! Um… like kearnsy said, probably $525 or under for the 1tb (if $500 is too optimistic). Or ~$300 for the 500gb. I don't know, I'm not good at this!

I've got a Dell XPS 15, so I have a hdd or ssd slot + an msata slot. Is there any reason I should choose replacing the hdd with a sata ssd over a new msata? The msata in this is useless (not made for storage, just caching), so that's why I'm leaning towards replacing that first. Thanks for any advice you or anyone can provide.

        • +2

I'd replace the msata with the largest you can afford, load the OS and apps on that. Then have a 2TB mechanical disk as your data/storage.

Unfortunately my ultrabook only has a msata slot, so I am after the largest capacity I can muster.

Yeah once this drive hits $500 the trigger will be pulled for sure for me!

      • +1

I would also be really keen to see a bit more movement on the mSata price for the 250 and 500 GB. $155 for the 250 would seal it for me.

      • Maybe next weekend should be the Samsung mSATA weekend sale ;)
        please? :P

  • +4

The 250Gb Samsung is a few dollars cheaper than MWAVE's deal yesterday, factoring in the $8.95 shipping and the credit card surcharge. Good one SE!

  • +4

Would like to neg for being 2 days too late for me, but I must give this deal a plus… I just bought the 250GB for $161 :(

    • +2

I did the same on Tuesday.. i saw in another thread to wait until Wednesday which i did.. should have waiting till Thursday! The eternal struggle of the bargain hunter..

      • +2

Eternal struggle indeed, bought mine a mere 40mins before this deal was posted :(

        • +1

I paid $179 locally for the 250gb this morning. :(
Still, I kinda wanted it before the weekend.

    • +4

      Hi kirt,

It's Samsung Weekend Sale - but if you buy any of the Samsung products above, i will make either of them free Shipping on same order. Let me know.

      Cheers
      SE

      • Sweet thanks ;)

        • +5

done - any of them will be free shipping as long as you purchased 1 Samsung promotion product on this page.

          cheers
          SE

        • +1

          Legend :)

      • I asked free shipping for CPU+MB+Case bundle when there was a free shipping deal for i5 CPU plus two other selected items, sup team member asked my postal address and sent it. but didn't reply, so I gave up. Now pricess gone up again :(

        • Is the CPU+MB+Case bundle you requested outside our previously promotion products? You may PM me the details if you wish so i can see if i can help you out.

          Cheers
          SE

        • +1

oops i wanted vote you up, accidentaly pressed the other

so i up voted other comments;)

  • +1

Hi SE, do the MicroSDs come in Bulk or retail packaging?

    • +2

      Hi Riczter,

They all come in retail packaging.

      Cheers
      SE

      • +1

Is the retail package comes with the desktop cradle and sata cable?

        • +1

They were talking about micro sd cards not SSD drives.

  • +1

Great deal thanks SE, just grabbed the 512GB EVO!

    • thanks! :)

  • +1

Thanks a Heap Rep. Was waiting for the 256 Evo Deal. Bought one :)

    • +1

      thanks! :)

  • Where were you last weekend? :(

  • I'm looking at the 250 EVO to replace the aging HDD on my 2010 Macbook pro. Does this come with the transfer cables to help me copy the data from my hard disk to the SSD?

Also, do you sell the phillips screw drivers? (I can't find it on the site).

    Thanks!

    • +1

      Hi lazybones1987,

The SSD will not come with any transfer cables (we've sold out our external casing so couldn't recommend you any right now).

As for philips screw drivers - No, i don't think we can offer a better deal than your local $2 shop?

      Regards
      SE

Rep how about matching the older price on the 64GB $47.95 with Free Shipping :D

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/144372

    • +1

Sorry mate - that competitor's pricing was too sharp, we can't match it today :P

      Cheers
      SE

      • +2

Thanks Rep for your involvement and good service. I have always been happy with SE service to date. Just in the spirit of correctness, that price of $47.95 for a 64GB card was offered by SE yourselves on 15th. May 2014, not by another competitor.

        • +1

I'm ready to pull the trigger if it's 47.95 I bought my last micro SD from Memory City (now something else) and recall Shopping Express bettering it a day later.

      • +1

        Love the honestly, it's refreshing

      • Hi,

Does your price of the Samsung PRO 64GB MicroSD up to 70mb/s - $49.95 includes shipping as I'm charged the total amount of $58.30 (includes shipping).

        Thanks.

    • Yeah I'm with you on the 64GB card. I would have got one too. Any chance, Rep, you can match your previous price of $47.95?

  • can someone explain the difference between evo and pro?

    • in short, pro's faster and more expensive

      • Not trying to be a smartass here, but for most people they would hardly notice any difference. The main difference as you point out is price, then I would say durability and hence the 2 year warranty difference. Mainly for business or heavy power users.

        • +2

agreed, if you are upgrading from an old mechanical HDD, then EVO will give you a huge speed boost. If you are a power user than needs the top 1% fastest of everything, or a company that needs the reliability of the extra warranty then the Pro is for you

  • Dammit just bought one of these off bloody Mwave for like $3-4 more. Was going to cancel but of course its like up to 5 days to get my money back off them :(

Foolish me for not checking OZB more than once today.

  • Samsung PRO 64GB MicroSD up to 70mb/s - $49.95

Does it come with a SD Adapter?

  • Does the Evo 840 250 GB fit in the Macbook Pro Late-2011? I can't seem to find a satisfying answer on Google. :|

    • +1

The current Samsung 840 Evo and Pro are all 7mm drives, as were the some of their earlier ssd's. They fit most modern laptops and thin Ultrabooks, should similarly fit into Macbook Pros and even Airs. You could even fit a 9mm SSD in your 2011-2012 Macbook Pro.

  • Just in time for me as MSY ran out of stock (and cheaper too). Just bought a 250GB SSD- hope it arrives soon :)

  • Sold my ozc ssd 128gb bought in 2011 for $80 and got the 840 Pro 120g for $85. Seems like a no brainer. SE is always fast with delivery. For those wanting a cheap Toshiba Canvio 1tb, ow price match the on they are doing on special. It's the simple version and seems to have the same product identification. You may want to check it first and save yourself $4 at ow.

    • +2

The pro is $129, I believe you meant the plain EVO.

      • I did mate. Can't edit now.

  • Thanks , bought Evo 840 250 GB!

  • Very good price for the evo. I already have a 128gb Samsung pro ssd in my desktop. Does it make sense for me to replace this with the 256gb evo? Advise please?

  • Damn just bought a 250GB, does this mean I should buy another one?

    • No! Why, unless you need it or see a use for it in the near future. The price is gradually dropping, so if you need it in 6 months time, there will be better deals then. We aren't talking shares or gold bullion here.

      • +1

I thought about putting one my HP N54 server, but it's not urgent. Using a 1TB Green as the OS Drive atm. When the 850 starts rolling out these should get cheaper again, still a great price by SE

        • Good thinking. When I see a good deal on these, I get tempted too, but I resist most of the time. If you start looking for a deal a month or two before you actually need it, you can find a deal and better spec for price.

  • I'd like to get the pro series 250GB EVO, how to make free shipping? I'm new so I can't directly message the store rep. Thanks

    • +1

seems to automatically apply free shipping when you enter your post code

      • Tried to buy one this morning and it does not remove the shipping cost, did it expire this morning?
Yes, tried entering postcode but still charging shipping.

        • yeah your right, doesnt work anymore.
its still the weekend, how can this be a weekend special if its not working today? :P

    • Rep, trying to place an order for Samsung 32GB microSD Card Pro Series UHS-1 Class 10 Read 70MB/s Write 20MB/s MB-MGBGB/CN. What happened to the free shipping?

      • I sent a message to the rep re free shipping not applying at present.

The info page on most sale items still shows Sale Ends 23:59 pm, 20 July 2014

        • I decided to place an order elsewhere.

  • bought the 500GB, Thanks rep :)

  • +1

I bought the 250GB Pro - I figured if I got the faster drive it would be better for the paging file speed? My Macbook is low on RAM . Anyway i haven't spent $200 in a while so hopefully I don't get too much guilt when it arrives!

  • Hi Rep

The free shipping seems not apply any more?

  • +3

Might ask for an extension of this sale when they get to work tomorrow since the free shipping is not applicable as they promised.

  • +1

I got all the way to the very end before payment confirmation only to find that postage is NOT free & they want $8.95. I didn't go through with the purchase, though I'd like to with free postage as advertised.

  • +1

    Hi Rep,
I'm trying to buy the Samsung Evo 250GB SSD, but I'm getting charged for shipping.

  • +1

Yep, also confirming here the free shipping promotion has stopped working. Shame, I was so close…

  • +1

Trying to buy Samsung Evo 250GB SSD but no free shipping showing, will purchase if you fix that?

    • +1

On the shopping cart page, I cleared the postcode box and the price returned to $147. Initially, on the next page, the balance due showed as $147, but when I inputted the postcode, the shipping fee returned ….

Maybe it is the 'thrift gods' preventing us spending our money :-)

  • +1

For those who haven't been able to purchase Samsung storage items due to this shipping fee problem, I would suggest writing tonight to SE at [email protected] & maybe they will provide an opportunity for free shipping purchases tomorrow. It may be useful to include a print screen of the checkout page showing the shipping fee.

  • +1

Hmmm as so many have mentioned, shipping fee has returned, so I guess I'm going to save myself a tad over $100 by not impulsively buying some of these tasty SD cards (MB-MGCGB/CN, MB-SGBGB/CN and MB-SPAGC/CN :) )

Unless of course the special is extended for another day and the issue fixed and I'll cave in again…

  • Shipping showing at $9.55 ??? Not free…

  • Weird! Even now, if any of three Kingston micro sd cards below are added to any of the Samsung storage products, shipping is free. This was a special request granted on Friday by the SE rep to Kirt - see the posts above

    $6 http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/kingston-8gb-class-4-m…
    $9 http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/kingston-16gb-class-4-…
    $10 http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/kingston-class-10-sdhc…

I think as the system is screwed up, SE will offer another deal with free shipping for the Samsung products

  • And now the prices have gone back up.

  • +7

    • +1

      Great, rep. Will order today.

    • +1

    • +1

Thanks guys. Just ordered. Much appreciated.

    • +1

      Ordered, thanks!

      • thanks everyone :)

  • Rep the Micro sd cards are still coming up with shipping cost. Should I just go ahead and order and will have shipping refunded?

    • Hi dy4me,

Which one? It should be working.

      Cheers
      SE

      • +1

Thanks. Did a refresh and works now. Ta.

        • no worries :).

Anyone else that could not get it to work please try to do a refresh as per dy4me.

          Cheers
          SE

  • +1

    Got a 250gb SSD, cheers.

  • Your price has been beaten by Mwave for the 1TBs at least:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/153604

Care to go one better? ;)

  • +1

Got Delivered. Fantastic job Rep. Would like to shop again when there is a bargain.
