  • Can this be used in the car? Doesn't look like it.

      No but you can get replacement big-brand head units for only a few dollars more if that suits!? Generic branded units sell for less than $100 too and are apparently not too bad. Alternatively I have seen separate tuners like this that connect to your car systems AUX in for those unlucky enough to have a fully integrated entertainment system. Just search eBay.

      • I dont think I can change the manufacturer's headunit becuase of the bluetooth/audio controls to the steering wheel. I'm trying to find a alternative solution to get DAB in the car.

        I'll have a squizz on ebay.

        Thanks Mate.

          Nah, Steering Wheel controls are easy! I just replaced the head units in both our cars with a Double-DIN Pioneer DAB unit when they were on sale at JB. Cost about $30 to get the new fascias to make them fit the car nicely (just cosmetics) then another $30-$40 to get the adaptor cables from the UK which included the Steering Wheel adaptor!

          Both units in both cars (2010 Corolla & 2010 Suzuki SX4) work absolutely perfectly!

          The other alternative to replacing the entire DIN would be to use this:
          http://www.dension.com/products/dbu

          Basically it is a USB stick which plugs into your car's USB, and then it displays the DAB Radio Channels as if it is a MP3 file, so you can basically still use your OEM car DIN as long as your car originally has USB.

          Expensive though around $200-300, seems like they are the ONLY company which makes them, which is why its so expensive. No Competition.

        • @lplau:
          Whoa, that thing is very cool but SO expensive! Shame really as that would/would've been perfect for so many people in so many ways if it was a tenth the price :( I never knew they existed so cheers for the link lplau!

          @SteveAndBelle:
          If they made it around $100 they'd sell like hotcakes.
          But for $200 not really worth it, especially if a Double DIN replacement is only slightly more expensive.

  • $199 RRP? That seems inflated considering JB has it for $124 - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/cord/cord-ez…

      $124 is their discounted price. Not the RRP price.

      • Ah but who ever sells at RRP That has never been a basis for a price except for the manufactures making it sound good. Did you folks ever sell at RRP?

      • lmao really. you can ask for further discount from the listed price.
