I Missed out on the Skylanders Basic Pack, but Kmart took my name if anymore came in. I had a phone call today informing me that they had been told from Head Office that they could sell their Mariokart 8 Premium packs for the same price. Naturally I jumped on it. Hopefully all other Kmarts will do the same.
I believe Hornsby still has 1 SL Bundle left (as of Sunday 6/7)
If they offer the Premium Bundle as a Sub after that, please let me know!

Just say you need 2 ask if you can buy 1 SL bundle and 1 MK8 bundle as a substitute for $179 each. Return the SL bundle unopened the following day.
Tried Kmart Toowoomba (Qld) on 03/07/14 but they had stock of the basic console plus Skylanders standalone game so were offering that as the substitute. I put my name down for the Skylanders bundle as they said they were getting more in (and I was hoping this wouldn't happen and they would then offer the MK8 bundle to those on the waiting list).
My friend rang Kmart Armidale (NSW) on 04/07/14 and they were out of stock of Skylanders and basic consoles, and apparently had just received 3 MK8 bundles and were offering them as the substitute (one per customer). He immediately got one put aside and texted me, so I rang them 10 minutes later, and they had 1 remaining of the 3, so I bought it over the phone. We drove there and picked up both consoles a couple of hours later.
Kmart Toowoomba then rang me later the same day to say they had received 8 Skylanders bundles. Thanks but no thanks.

I SUCCEEDED! Well partially, but I still think it's a success.
Went back to Kmart today and asked again. Counter guy said they were out of stock but went into the back to check anyway. Came back and said they actually had one more Wii U Premium Pack but it wasn't the Mario Kart one (it was actually the original Nintendo Land one). Initially he said that they couldn't do the substitution deal when I first asked and he reiterated this when he called his manager. I explained how the substitution deal was vague on what could be offered as a substitute for the Skylanders pack and he asked the manager again, coming back with the same answer. I then asked him to call Head Office. He came back and said they had to wait confirmation from another manager. Finally, he said he could sell it as if he didn't, it would go on transit back to the Head Office. So I got it for $179. No Mario Kart 8, but I'm still pretty happy :)
Now the proud owner of a Wii U. Looking forward to using it.

@Ventak: ask for a discount when you bring it back to the shop. They normally knock another 10-20% off on displayed or returned items. Otherwise just ask for a refund.
You could do that, but as he said there was a missing power adapter for the game pad. So it wasn't just used goods, there were parts missing.
Kmart however may give you a discount on your next purchase though if you are nice, and not demanding it like a spoiled kid.

Hope you get a Wii U in the end that is new with everything, even the Basic console with game for $179 is a great price.

Finally played mine. Not a bad console. Love the gamepad idea. Just sucks there is a limited amount of decent games on the console.
The mario games are good. Wii U Party is good too.
I am waiting for Bayonetta 2 though, since it is a exclusive on Wii U.

Nah normal wiimotes will work, some other games require plus though so might be worth forking out the bit of extra cash in the long run if you plan to buy more games :)

Nah not too keen on preowned wii remotes. A game isn't too bad to have preowned, but bad thoughts come to my mind when it comes to remotes

why not they are easy to clean to get rid of any gunk or germs.

Just got one in Sydney. At first I was told they were out of stock. I then called head office and then was told they had one left. I got the premium console but wasn't able to get the MK8 bundle.
Where else can I get it in Melbourne ? I try calling most of the store they said they don't have, really wanted one or did one have a spear one to sell me ?!?

For anybody like me that ended up with two consoles due to buying the Skylanders bundle when the Kmart sale began and then jumping on the Mario Kart 8 bundle for $179, I can confirm that you can transfer your Nintendo Network ID from one console to the other and retain your digital purchases (or free games redeemed with the MK8 code). I rang Nintendo Australia and told the lady that I had upgraded my Basic Wii U to a Premium one and wanted to move my Nintendo Network ID across to the Premium console so I could access my digital purchases. She said they can do it no problems, and asked for my details, serial numbers of both consoles and my NNID username. She said she would ring back when it's done, and rang back the same afternoon to say the transfer was done and when I power up my console and connect to the net, it will be all good to go. Fired up the new console and I was able to link my NNID no worries, but got an error when trying to access the eShop to download my games. I left it for 48 hours but continued to receive the error, so phoned Nintendo back, and they have now fixed the error. Also just registered the code for the copy of MK8 I got with the MK8 bundle (under a different Club Nintendo account) and redeemed that for another free game. So all up, I got a Basic console and gamepad, a Premium console and gamepad, 2 copies of Mario Kart 8, Nintendoland, Skylanders and 2 free games (Mario Bros U and Zelda) for 2 x $179 for the bundles + $58 for MK8 = $416 (less than the cost of the MK8 bundle itself). Happy camper.

Good to hear. You are like the 5th person I have seen post regarding the eShop error after the NNID transfer. I had the exact same problem ages ago when my console died and they had to transfer to my replacement. Surprised it is still happening :/

Anyone finds 8gb basic Wii U has almost no storage left for further system update after the update for Wii backward compatibility?
The 8GB is just to hold the system and get you going - you need external storage.
Can updates be stored in the external storage? I thought it would be just like the Android phones/tablets only apps/games to be stored at external storage but updates have to be stored in the internal storage?
Does anyone know any stores in Sydney that have the SL Bundle in stock?
