I Missed out on the Skylanders Basic Pack, but Kmart took my name if anymore came in. I had a phone call today informing me that they had been told from Head Office that they could sell their Mariokart 8 Premium packs for the same price. Naturally I jumped on it. Hopefully all other Kmarts will do the same.
Yes its worth it to justify you must have it :) regardless of their excuse as its already happening Kmart nation wide.
They could also be doing a survey on word of mouth and the power of the internet community chat groups which now owns by the COTD who is getting alot of intel to improve their sales and manipulate the input of the community's feedback.

Got the last one in Sanctuary Lakes VIC after a bit of battle with the manager, she claimed that the substitute is not the premium bundle but instead a Wii U standalone console with skylanders game sold separately (eh?).
Showed her the receipt and after several calls to other store, got it for $179, 5 mins right before the store closed. Thanks OP!

Thanks mate. This is pretty much how Carousel explained it to me. They had got confirmation from head office, started offering the Basic + Skylanders starter kit, after that sold out they offered the MK8 bundle, after that it was no stock. They also stated that not all stores could do the same and would not allow rain checks on any bundle during the promo period due to uncertainty of stock (but as others have pointed out, they have gotten lucky with a few stores for the rain check)
Are you able to confirm if Kmart will be getting any more stock in of the MK8 bundle or even the Skylanders bundle during the promotional period?
I really doubt they would restock MK8 but Skylanders bundle is a possibility if any are left in the channel.
'P5' on the receipt means 'price promise.' Clearly this store (1037) has honoured a head office mistake. I doubt anyone else will get this deal, depends on the store. They would definitely need to call up head office. This item scans up as $349 and i doubt that a store would honour the deal without specific approval from head office. An over-ride that large would be beyond the jurisdiction of even a store manager.

Yeah you may be correct. My store has touch screen POS now, no numbers. Only shows up on receipt. My personal suggestion would be to contact the Customer care line or head office, rather than harass the staff at your local store. Head office should be able to clarify this deal and the possibility of a raincheck, substitution etc.

I'm assuming most stores have ceased trading for the day. They may receive emails regarding the issue in the morning. If any Wii U's are left in the morning you may be able to price match it in store without a problem :)

I went to Redbank in Ipswich. I just told them, that there is a bulletin that they must sell the Premium once sold out of the Skylanders, I didnt have a copy of anyones reciept or anything. They instantly had it and I got 3 of them for $179 each. There were still about 5 there at 6pm last night.
They are sold out. Ipswich Riverlink is also sold out. I'm don't think I'm going to find one. Australia fair say they now have the skylander pack in stock so they won't do it either :(

Picked up the premium wii u bundle last night at Kmart Capalaba for $179. It appeared that they had 3 more left. Staff were familiar with the issue.
Just phoned Capalaba. They have them. They are doing it for $429. They say $179 was a mistake.
That's not what happened last night at Capalaba. Different staff I am assuming. I suggest going in store and not calling them. You may have more luck that way? We spoke to people on the photo printing centre about it and that's where we paid for ours. Goodluck!

Well after last night having an argument with the worker at the Tea Tree Plaza store in S.A and then again this morning with him and the manager i finally got them to honor the deal.
They have one left when i was there. They were very rude to me when i went and collected it though lol but i won in the end.

That store is close to where I live, did you bring anything such as receipt / screenshot of the kmart substitute offer etc as proof in order to get the premium pack?
I went to browns plains first and they have the basic Wii u console and skylander games but the lady was lovely enough to try other stores for me. Calamvale had one Mario pack left but wouldn't honour the deal however one quick call to head office changed that. If you know a store that has sold out of previous options but still won't give you the Mario pack call head office and they will call the store for you.

I don't blame the staff for being pissed off & rude, because considering pretty much every store has probably been bombarded with over 50 calls from various ozbargainers wouldn't you get pissed off if somebody did that to your house. LOL!

Are they not paid to answer calls a part of their customer services? I don't mind getting paid just to answer calls if I am paid partly for this purpose
However you are thinking of it too simple. Usually they hire staff to work on the floor not answer phones all day.
Therefore with the high volume of phone calls comming through, which would technically make it enough for another person to be on the phone full time however in this case they will be understaffed, therefore the staff member will effectively be working 2 jobs at once.
Staff members don't give a….. about selling it for $179, they just take home a salary they don't get commissions like other places do, so selling it cheap as long as the manager says OK then they don't care.
Basically the staff at Target is doing 2 jobs, doing all the floor stuff and spending so much time on the phone. Then being abused by customers who come in to the store trying to get this deal. If you put yourself in their shoes, would you be pissed off? lol.
If you cannot imagine yourself in the shoes of them, then imagine your current work, a team member goes on leave and you are forced into taking on everything that team member does, would you be pissed off?
When they are not bombarded with 10% of Australia's Population on 1 day via Phone, they actually provide VERY good customer service, They happily gave me a nice discount off the skylander bundle out of good will due to another issue I was having with them.
Just got the last black consule at kmart broadway nsw with the same deal. It took an hour but it is worth it. Each store seems to be told to have a quota for 5 rainchecks. Good luck to all.
I just went instore indro kmart and they told me mk8 bundle, sky bundle and wii u basic is out of stock yet there was a wii u basic on the shelf and that i could raincheck skylander bundle only

Dont bother trying at Marion SA Kmart - they have none of anything in stock. Target at Marion doesnt have the Skylander starter pack either. They do have the Mario Kart 8 pack and they wanted $379 for it and wouldnt budge, even with a copy of the Kmart receipt - they told me to go buy it from Kmart.

I am not so sure this is a management mistake.
Under Australian law, there is a section under False or misleading claims (link below) and they have advertised the Wii U Skylanders bundle on sale but not as limited stock. Consequently, if they run out of the bundle, they need to offer some suitable alternative (wii u basic plus $40 game and then the Premium bundle for some reason). If they do not, as they have not advertised the limited stock, they are breaking Australian Consumer Law.
I think this explains the actions of Head Office calling up the individual stores and telling them to sell the Wii U Premium Bundle at low cost when the stores were unwilling (HO knows the rules better!). If they do not, they run the risk of fines by the government.

They don't specify what constitutes "limited stock" so any half decent lawyer could argue their way out of it.
Easiest arguement is: Limited stock means their stock levels aren't at their "normal" levels therefore there it is limited quantity. However if Kmart can prove that their "normal" stock levels are around 5-10 units per store, then they can easily justify that the stock that they had in the stores is "normal" not limited.
Technically it was available at the store at a "normal" quantity, just not enough for OZBARGAIN.
You snooze you lose, don't go off to ACCC just because you missed out on a bargain. If they legitimitly did it, then you can go, but if you are complaining because you couldn't get one, then you are spoiling the fun for everyone.
They will just make crappier sales which doesn't include any popular items just to make you happy.
Kmart Port Adelaide offered me the basic pack plus a bundle that had Nintendoland, Just Dance 2014 and a Wii Remote Plus as a substitute, for the $179 price. It's not as a good as those who've got lucky on the MK8 premium bundle, but in my books a Wii Remote is better than Skylanders.
I got the last one from the cupboard, but I believe they mentioned there might be more out the back.
For what it is worth, they had the standard notice about offering a substitute (without specifying the substitute) pinned at the front of the store next to the greeter.

It take too long to go thru head office. If your local kmart has only the black one in stock, then their instruction is to honour the raincheck. It is listed on the skylander pack internal memo that if they run out of the skylander pack, they first offer the basic console +skylander. If they run out of that, then they should offer you the mariokart version.
it took me an whole hour to wait for all the phone calls and management to agree.
