I Missed out on the Skylanders Basic Pack, but Kmart took my name if anymore came in. I had a phone call today informing me that they had been told from Head Office that they could sell their Mariokart 8 Premium packs for the same price. Naturally I jumped on it. Hopefully all other Kmarts will do the same.
I guess the deal been broden'd.
Tried at K-Mart Albury NSW who has no Skylanders pack but did have a Mario Kart pack. I told them of the deal and to contact head office for confirmation. I even showed them the two above receipt copies. After waiting 10 minutes for them to contact "head office" they said head office told them it isn't a real offer and was only a one-off at the original store.
Such is life.
I tried everywhere in SA none left. Oh well :(

With a bit of talking my local Kmart (regional NSW) would match this deal, however they still have 3x normal 8gb WiiU's on the shelf for them to make up a Skylander bundle with. So unless and until those sell out, the Premium swindle/bundle is a no go :)

Kmart - Stanhope Gardens and Blacktown, both don't have the skylanders pack, but they won't match this deal…
They both just said they don't have any Wii U's at all when i rang around 4 today.
I rang Blacktown at around 9pm and managed to put one on hold. They wouldn't match the price last night until the 'store manager' was in today. I picked it up for $179 today. Thanks heaps OP.
I was there last night around 7:30pm & only saw one display box on the shelves (scanned at $429). You must have got the last one then.

Yeah i asked today if they had anymore stock and they said 'no'. Although, last night when i rang, it sounded like they had a few there and just put one aside for me (even though i called blacktown today asking them to do it for $179 and she said it was ok and one was on hold from last night without my name on it). I guess i did get lucky.. maybe i sound super sweet on the phone.
Did they say anything about it being the last one when you were picking it up? Did they grab one from storage or give you the contents+display box?
From what I've read some staff are pretty shifty by lying that there's no stock, when in reality there is actually heaps out the back or they are keeping it to themselves after finding out from head office that its legit.
Agree. I called one first initially said $429 on the phone had one in stock. After 30mins of drive I got there she said no stocks?! Never said had stock in the first place (liar). Went to another store the lady hesitated and made a call to another department to confirm any stocks left (why called another department when you were in charge of the entertainment area) which I believed to ask other staff if they sure wanted the stocks themselves.

As far as i know, it was a brand new box. Had a security thing on it that needed to be taken off and the box looks fine - so not the display unit. Haven't opened it yet though.. im leaving it as a treat for either thursday or friday night

I went into the Hoppers Crossing (VIC) store earlier and asked about grabbing the MK8 bundle and was refused… Went back in and asked to speak to a manager, only to be told they were out of stock because someone had come in after me and made them call head office.
They then offered me a rain check on the Skylanders bundle, but the manager ok'd doing a rain check for the MK8 bundle at $179!
So if you've been turned away from a store you MAY be able to talk them into doing a rain check on a cheap MK8.
I posted earlier about the rain check, I received the last one they had of the MK8 bundle. I had to do a bit of talking also. Glad you got a rain check!
Yeah, first time they said no and offered a raincheck on Skylanders, but after you got their only one they let me rain check the Mario Kart bundle at the cheap price.
Any chance for a copy of the receipt or the name of the manager you spoke to?
The girl behind the counter spoke to him and his approval and the price was hand written on the raincheck, so I don't think any other stores would honour/believe it even if I posted it.

I personally had luck at Carousel but apparently someone tried it after me and they were refused. A friend of mine tried Joondalup and he was unsuccessful
Tried Carousel and they said sold out of skylanders, and both alternatives. Asked what they were and they said basic console with Skylanders starter pack and then they did MK8 bundle.
Gonna try a few more stores and if I have any luck will report back.
Brandon Pack VIC is out of stock for both…or so they claim. Only one there was the display box for the MK8 bundle.

Tea Tree Plaza in SA said its store by store with the Mariokart pack and the manager wont honor it. Sounded like people had been trying there earlier the guy on the counter was a little smart ass

Their condition is only 1 per person…..later change to buy sky lander wii u basic pack at that price only. Which I am glad that I have got mine, could have bought all of them but they wouldn't allow me and sell it at $100 more to save the ozbargainers the trouble.

i called north rocks like 2 hours before you purchased the bundle, and they were giving me every possible BS! reason they could not to sell it to me, they said they have no more normal bundles etc. Only MK8 ones, i said ok,i was told by the head office and other stores, that they received instructions to sell the MK8 bundle as an alternative due to low stock levels etc. When i called after your post and said that someone was in now and bought it, they told me they just got the email from the head office that its ok…And i was like, yeah, the head office closed like an hour and a half ago (who are you BSing here?). And he said then ok ill sell it to you, so i got mine for$ 179. I saw one MK8 left on the side for someone an done basic bundle left on the side for someone. they seam to be lying about the stock levels.Big Thanks for the Deal post and other members that where nice for posting info, thanks guys.
Mandurah and Carousel told me that the Skylanders Bundle was clearance and they don't expect to get any back in. I'm not sure how true that is, they didn't check with anyone.
I have a feeling just like the standard Wii MK bundle that was gutted to $74 at big w and then target and kmart having it months later at $99, Nintendo will keep pumping these out to stores until they run dry.
In saying that, I would try get at least a rain check on the MK8 bundle if you can. So far no luck on the 3 stores I have posted. Gonna keep trying though :)
Yes I think that's true the skylanders is being discontinued because a new skylanders game is coming out in a few months. But I meant we need to find out when the premium will be back in stock :) I can't even get through at KMART Midland

Just stopped in at Kmart Wanneroo and they have no Wii U consoles in stock. Had the young girl go look out back.
She said they only got 4 the first weekend of the skylanders deal and all gone in an hour.
If youve missed out. Realistically they will have to substitute until the 20th of July. So really its stakeout time. Hopefully they get a shipment of mk8 packs while the skylosers bundle doesn't get replenished.
Or they realize that ozbargain has started exploiting the deal so they decide to hold out on all stock until after 20th July.
See really I dunno if the consoles worth Much more than that. Obviously there's a push to get them out there. I wonder how much its costs Nintendo to make a premium over a basic. Its only the sale of mk8 there really missing out on.
yeah i don't get the huge price difference either, the main difference is like 24gb of internal storage which is how much at todays prices?
The Wii U Basic was originally priced at $299 which meant the differences between the price gap of the Wii U Basic and Wii U Premium wasn't as big.
They are doing a fire sale of the Wii U Basic because they are phasing out the White color.
The premium pack also comes with some more accessories, which if i remember correctly is: 2 Stands for Gamepad (charger and a normal one), a stand to allow the Wii U to stand vertically, sensor bar.
So if you compare the ORIGINAL prices then the differences is only around $30-70 which isn't that bad considering the bigger disk space and additional accessories.
It isn't a fair comparison if you are comparing $179 (Basic) to $329 (Premium) as the Premium isn't on a clearance sale.
Nintendo is prob reimbursing these retailers like what HP did when they fire-saled the HP Touchpad.

Just registered to confirm that me and a friend of mine, printed off the poster and two of the receipts, took them into KMart's here in QLD and successfully acquired the premium bundle with Mario Kart 8 for $179.

For all people on the Gold Coast I rang the Australia Fair Store which had no Skylanders but did have a Mario Kart pack. The lady refused to give it for this price even after talking to the manager, Helensvale was out of stock of both but third time lucky at Pacific Fair store which had a few Mario Kart Premiums in stock and offered to give it to me for the $179 before I even asked. The guy there said head office had called and told them to do this. Very Happy and thanks for posting!

Now I find out that your Mario Kart 8 entitles you to 1 free game download…..based on the games i guess Mario Wii U is the best (2 gb small)
Where are the other places to get cheap wii u discounted games as its as hard to look for PS vita games due to supply of games in the country….
Gumtree got quite a few but mostly….the repeated games on the other next gen consoles.
Plan B return wii u and get 400+ store credit and buy 2x white wii u with 2x wii u pads and sell the main system for 100 making you original cost of $70….. o_o

I highly doubt this is a "strategy" by Nintendo nor Kmart. I am not sure what to call it but these would be well below cost for Kmart.

Yes sometime next week for Skylander bundle. I am assuming they wouldn't be getting MK Premium bundle until this sale is over.
i went into the keysborough store at around 6 pm and they had several mk8 premiums they refused to sell them to me for the deal. the manager then told the store clerk to put them out back and say we are out of stock.
