  • Multiple items works as long as in same currency
  • Item location not in Australia also works as long as it is listed on eBay AU
  • postage also attracts discount
  • Items bought before Offer started and paid for now also works (that's where all the gift cards went :)
  • check that the discount has been applied on the eBay checkout page and in PayPal just before you pay
  • why does my PayPal transaction show the full amount after the purchase? GOTO PayPal, find the transaction, Click details, you will see a 15% contribution from CBIGSUNDAY courtesy of eBay plus your actual charge to your funding source which makes up the difference. The total needs be 100% because the seller gets 100%. eBay just pays the 15% and you pay the rest.
    It should look something like this http://i.imgur.com/afbCvki.jpg (image courtesy of ezarc)
    If it doesn't show the coupon in the details then you haven't done it right. You will also see the discount details in the payment confirmation details.

BIG THANK YOU to everyone for their vote. Thank You!

The Story (speculation on my behalf)

One could assume that there is a story behind this as I have seen this on eBay in other countries recently and my assumption is that it’s an effort to drive top line sales and bring the stock price back up due to eBay's challenges in 2014:

Ebay’s stock price was recently at a 52 week low at US$48.06 and has been on a consistent decline since 2014. There are several factors that have influenced this (not in order of impact):

  1. The recent security issue/alerts;
  2. Departure of some key executives;
  3. The infighting with investor Carl Icahn;
  4. Alibaba IPO around the corner with Alibaba posing a real threat to Ebay;
  5. Amazon consistent strength and expansion (they’ll be here next year!);
    (perhaps 4&5 should have Australian retail worried too!)
  6. Google Search algorithm changes resulting in lower rankings for ebay listings;
  7. Shut down of eBay Now - same day service;
  8. Some other undisclosed events (speculation).

Either way, I’m happy to support them this weekend and I’ll be buying up on Sunday !!!

The Instructions

  1. Proceed to Ebay Checkout Page: Checkout: Review order
  2. Enter coupon code in redemption code box (bottom right) and press apply
  3. Press Continue and pay with paypal
  4. Verify in the paypal screen/system that the discount was applied before you complete your order.

Hint: If you are buying multiple items then make sure the currencies of the items are the same because you will only get one shot at this coupon.

Please let us know what you are going to buy and share your bargains below please.

Will the professionals crash the site?

If you do the math then this is a potential $6 000 000 spend from eBay!

    All the gifts cards selling as chips !!!! Most of them gone now ! I guess the power of ozbargain!!

    • Only the low value ones, $100 and $200 are gone. ~2am AEST.

  • code no longer works…

  • get error : X-NDAY: The maximum number of times this Redemption Code can be used has been reached, and it can no longer be used.

    • Actually i just tried again and it worked!!

  • Sorry, wrong comment.

    Buy 33 of these before it's gone!
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gifte-Universal-Gift-Card-20-00-/…

    I'm honestly laughing at how much turnover Gifte is getting in such a short period of time; OzBargain definitely raised the bar on this one!

    • I don't think you can use multiple Gifte cards on their website to purchase a larger denomination card.

  • It doesn't start until 10.01am today? If that's the case then they might not honour the 15% off purchases done before then (i.e. now)?

    • +3

      Not really our fault that eBay's coders/system allows it to be used now.

      Sure they can cancel the items but we paid via PayPal, and eBay can not cancel them. It's a different system. You know eBay always say PayPal is separete etc etc etc….

  • nooooo was doing paypal transaction and gift cards out of stock :(

  • YAY!!! bought Sony Xperia Z Ultra 4G ..saved $60

    While everyone is being true ozbargainers and buying gift cards over multiple accounts I just want to say thanks again for the deal. I just bought my wedding ring. Sure I only got $100 off, but if it was not for this deal I would have not checked ebay bought in store and paid over a thousand dollars. Helps greatly as weddings are not cheap. Sometimes I can not believe there was a life before ozbargain :)

    • +4

      CONGRATULATIONS on wedding/buying a ring.

    Some more $54.95 cards.

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/161305896470 - 0 sold right now

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/151302584713 - 14 sold right now

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/161305896457 - 25 sold now

    Buy em before they sell out!

    • Is there are saving though? There's an overhead of 4.95 for each $50 card bought.

      • +1

        Im not sure, I havent done the maths, it's 2.30am and I'm watching soccer.

        :S

        Cant be bothered working it out.

        • 54.95 x 12 = 659.4
          659.4 x 0.85= $560.49

          50 x 12 = $600

          Total saving $600 - $560.49 = $39.51

      • Yes, if you buy 12x$54.95
        Face Value = $600 (12x$50)
        Undiscounted = $659.40
        Ebay 15% Discount = $98.91
        Payment = $560.49
        Total Profit = $39.51

        Nothing as lovely as the $80.20, but better than nothing.

      • it doesnt worth it, its around $3 profit per card

      • Yes, it's $46.70 per card you pay after discount.

      • Just buy 700$ giving you the maximum 100$ discount -5$ approx for each delivery x 14= 70… So you save over 30$ At most plus extra cents :x

        • Yep. Just did the math, not worth it at all.

          May as well buy a big ticket item like a smartphone.

        • It's good if you don't want to impulse buy though. Many OB would prefer eftpos as you can do your normal shop and save.

    • +1

      donot worth it.

  • For any Nikon DSLR people out there, I reckon this SB-700 flash (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nikon-SB-700-AF-Camera-Flash-Spee…) is a very good deal even before the 15% off. Its not grey import so has local warranty too.

    • Just bought one!

  • And any other people…they have other cards too…

    Assuming you want to buy from certain shops:

    • +2

      Gotta get them Runescape giftcards before they all sell out

  • missed all of the gift cards :(

    is there anything worth buying ? dont really need anything

    • maybe buy something you actually need ? :P

    • is there anything worth buying ? dont really need anything

      Kogan Cinema display?? scratch that, the prices are ridiculous and higher than kogan website.

  • i bought two items to different sellers, paid both in one transaction and 1 show on paypal, the other doesnt and it ebay shows as i haven't paid.

    Anyone with the same problem?

  • Is it risky to checkout twice with the coupon code? It seems to work.

    • It will get rejected when you login with ppl

    • Does it ???? Thought one per costumer … It maybe a bit risky probably the may cancel the second order ?

    • I tried, no. Price will not change in PayPal login.

      • As in it works then?

  • 1x Apple store card??

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/221471087357

    Get it before sold out.

  • anyone interested? LG Optimus L7 II Dual Sim White Outright Handset NEW - $135.15 ($159) i think this is cheapest price in AU after discount?

    • It's not that good of a phone though.

      For those looking for AC modem routers, maybe the Netgear router?
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NETGEAR-D6200-Dual-Band-Wireless-…

      $135 after discount. RRP $155 via MSY.

      • why? i think its reasonable price for a mid-range smartphone and you can combine multiple items to take the max advantage

        • It's OK I guess, just the build quality of the phone is mediocre (but so is most sub $200 devices) and the stock ROM is a bit jittery at times. The RAM is only 768 as opposed to 1GB on most devices nowaday.

        • I agree. I just compare this with the previous deal and if anyone who's after this particular phone can benefit from it

    • That's like… barely more than my discount. More, more!

  • So I bought 3 items, put them in my basket. I put the code in, and it says I have a nice $50 discount all up, I proceed with the checkout, all seems fine.

    Then I go to my papal account to check the transaction and everything has been charged at full price. What happened to my $50 discount?

    • +1

      It's fine. Click on the item and check the funding source: https://i.imgur.com/LP2bDZl.png

      I'd double check your CC statement though.

      • Yep, thanks for your advice, it is all fine according to the above info and my CC statement.

        • You'll get a nice summary too from PayPal and ebay via email showing the discounts clearly after you purchased.

  • Just saved myself $30 on my travel backpack for my next trip, which happens to be a discounted return flight to China - another deal from ozbargain!

    Sigh. What has happened to me :)
    And thanks OP!

  • does the coupon still work? Im so scared LOL

    • Working as of 0048 WST.

      • +1

        No +1 for that? I want to crack the 2000+
        ;) is that even possible?

  • Great! Saved $100+ from items I was going to buy anyways this past week with this and the Woolworths deal.

  • +1

    I will wait until tomorrow, if I am lucky enough the gift card guy will list new cards and hopefully the code still working.
    good on you who got the gift cards

  • +4

    That giftecard guy is probably making more money in a day than he does in a year.

    • Assuming he sells 2000 gift cards at an average of $60 each that's $120,000.

      • The universal one could only list 100 for 20,50,100,200$ each so at most he sold 400 of them , still a nice business for him!

        • Yea but they had a lot more eftpos ones. I bought eftpos ones.

      • You can buy them for ~5% discount from providers. So that's like $6000 profit + what ever they get from postage.

        But dont forget eBay + PayPal fees. This is ~15% OR maybe a little less if you have a shop/paypal deal thing.

      • +1

        but dont forget the cost of the cards to him.
        interesting to know how much it cost him for a card

    • Who is GiftE anyway, I don't think it's some random guy but may actually be a supplier of these cards.

      • The time it takes to pack each one and ship them would be quite a while even if you print the addresses on the labels.

      • They are a supplier as businesses can signup for it on their site.

      • Who is GiftE anyway, I don't think it's some random guy but may actually be a supplier of these cards.

        Paypal shows up as Cardlimbo - I guess they got absorbed like TheMensShop.

    • Does anyone know how much they make on these gift card in the first place? It can't be much?

    • its villageroadshow
      a drop in the ocean for them
