  • OMG BOUGHT~!

Great Coffee machine for a great price, if I did not already have a coffee machine I would jump at this.

With fresh coffee beans, this is a major upgrade from pod machines. Pod make an ok coffee, but nothing beats a freshly made coffee with freshly ground beans.

    • +1

Agreed, I bought a pod machine only to then upgrade to a manual. Once you get used to the making and cleanup process it really doesn't take very long to produce a decent coffee.

  • +4

Just brought it home and made a coffee. Delicious! Thanks for making me $400 poor Ozbargain ya bast*rds!

    • +1

      M0ngrels, I tells ya!!!!

      I just lost $400 too

Got a shiny new coffee machine though

  • Is it a pressured filter basket or a traditional one? Can't seen to find that info

    • Regular baskets

    • +2

Comes with both. If you use fresh roasted/grinded coffee, only use the regular basket. If you have pre ground coffee use the pressurised. If the extraction is coming out too fast you need a finer grind, or a better grinder.

    12 Month Warranty

Anyone get extended warranty? Worth it?

    • So cheap,if its cheap extended warranty then maybe worthwhile?

      • It was about $65 for an extra 2 years on top I think. I declined, implied warranty should have my back if anything goes wrong just outside of manufacturers warranty anyway.

    • If you must have an extended warranty get a credit card that has one built in…otherwise I wouldn't bother.

    • Use a platinum card to pay for it - free extended warranty !

  • -1

    thanks brought one

    • +1

I brought mine home, where did you bring yours too?

  • +3

this machine is amazing. we have one of these at work. has never missed a beat
we make on average about 10 lattes a day, and a few short blacks as well.
the milk frothier is excellent with the temperature gauge.

highly recommended paired with a grinder.

personally i have not much use for this machine at home, since 2 cups of coffee a day is enough for me at work.

  • +3

Had one of these for over 5 years, still going strong, haven't had any issues. It's generally in use at least once a day. Mine is the older one with the pressure gauge down the bottom left, apart from that the same I think. Craps all over pod coffee once you get your grind and tamping right.

    • +1

Me too. Exactly the same…had no issues…except for the noise. Its so darn loud! If the coffee doesn't wake you up, the machine sure will. This model is supposed to be heaps quieter. Might have to make them double shots from now on to make up for the silent propulsion systems on this machine!

Reminds me of Sean Connery…"engage the caterpillar drive"

      • This model (EM7000) runs a lot quieter than the old one.

The EM6910 when pumping a manual shot into a dual floor basket runs about 76db with peaks to about 82db
The EM7000 when pumping a manual shot into a dual floor basket runs about 62db with peaks to about 64db

  • After reading all the comments, I just bought one…………..I really dont need but what the hell!!!!!!!!!!

    • If you drink coffee, you'll simply love this machine. I already have a cheap machine and also pulled the trigger. Damn you, ozbargain!

  • Doubt they have stock left. Do they ship from warehouse or nearby stores?

  • Just tried to buy, no grey left for pickup in Vic, not available for shipping, some white left in a couple of shops, I pushed the button thnx op

  • I cant actually seem to buy one… try to add one to the cart, but it won't work, even though it says in stock at my local store :(

    • Try white. Seems to available. Grey is sold out.

  • -1
    • +1

Uses a smaller basket/group handle. Get the white version of this machine while you still can, it is truly worth at least $700 on every other day for at least the next 5 years. Not even joking. And at the end of the day you can sell it second hand for >$200 in the same period of time

    • +1

Not in the same league as the Em7000.

  • Harvey Norman Auburn has nothing left in stock for $399.
Harvey Norman Castle Hill has two more white ones left at $399 (I checked floor stock at 5:30pm when the store closed).

i found that a sunbeam is NOT rite of passage for the coffee lover. If you're keen on going manual, just go straight for a HX or double boiler. A rancilio silvia perhaps, but not long before you get infected with upgradeitis and end up with an e61 stainless steel marvel of a machine.

    mark my words ;)

  • Argh should have grabbed a white one…has silver at the front instead of the grey…looks better I think.

    https://www.sunbeam.com.au/Coffee-and-Beverages/Espresso-Mac…

Its confusing because I went off the picture on the Harvey Norman website, but they are using different pictures to the Sunbeam website.

i.e. the graphite one I bought has an ugly grey front on the Sunbeam website, but a nice pretty silver looking front on the HN website.

    • STOP IT ! STOP IT ! YOU'RE SCARING ME !

Seriously, I think it's just the different angle from which they photographed the grey/graphite model resulting in less reflections from the stainless steel surface and causing it to look darker. The poor picture quality also didn't help, making it appear to be a drab grey-painted surface. But if you look at the higher quality photo on the Sunbeam website of the black model taken from the same angle you can see that it looks more like stainless steel.

Holy shit, i just paid double this at the Goodguys the Sunday before last…..

edit: Just found that GG do a 120% price difference match within 30 days of buying an item. Win :D

    • +1

Sorry to break you the bad news dude…

"Our team members will verify the price is current and that the item is available for immediate sale and delivery."

      http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/content/Pay_Less

      Out of stock now..

Sucks, would have been an awesome chunk of coin back.

      Maybe try it regardless.

      • +1

It seems to be an Australia-wide sale so hopefully no matter where I am, i should be able to get it delivered for at least $450…. That's what the official HN website states and it doesn't end until 30 June.

Will let you know what happens when I get the call from the salesperson tomorrow. Still hope yet.

        http://www.harveynorman.com.au/sunbeam-cafe-series-espresso-…

        • +1

Really hope it works out for you mate.

          My fingers are crossed!

        • We tried to get the good guys to price match Harvey Norman…but they wouldn't do it because they only stock the stainless steel ones, not the white or grey ones…
But I hope it goes well for you. If tgg won't play ball, see if your credit card does a price drop guarantee or something.

        • The deal has now been taken off the HN website so odds of me getting back lots of cash is slim to none though i think odds were bad to begin with as it was the stainless steel one i bought :(. I'll just get them to price match to their own website for $749 so about a $50 return.

  • The grey one is not possible to add to basket. However, I got a white one.
    I dont care about colour.
    Its a great bargain.

    Thanks OP

  • Ordered one, thanks OP.

Wondering where to buy a decent-ish grinder to go with this… obviously missed out on the Sunbeam EM0480 deals previously, and feel bad buying it for $178 when it was going for $39-59 previously D:

    • EM0480 is worth it though its replacement the EM0500 is out. To get mine I sold a blender I won from a raffle worth $180 on eBay into my Paypal account then used that money to buy the EM0480…..

  • thanks Op got one :)

main point is the need to use a dual basket and you still need a grinder at an extra cost

-1 ITS NOT A DUAL THERMO BLOCK SO A DELAY WHILE THE MILK STEAMER HAS TO HEAT

    • +4

It is a dual thermoblock - no delay, can make espresso and froth milk at the same time

Bargain at this price, excellent when matched with a good grinder. Mine has been going strong for 14 months and I'm still loving it.

    • This unit does have dual thermoblock and has no delay.. you can in fact pull a shot whilst steaming milk at the same time if you like… I've do it all the time, no issues at all… Prefect unit!

I think the website you read this on might have there facts mixed up perhaps.

Thanks for posting your findings though but I can confirm the websites are not correct for others and yourself :-)

      All the best!

  • All sold out - few available in store in Brisbane. I just put one on hold in Browns Plains in Brisbane

  • Got a graphite one at Fyshwick this morning. They had 8 left, and 2 white.

    • sales person told me when picking up that the stainless steel one is popular and is still full price, this is clearance of the less popular colours, and once gone would not be restocked.

  • I ordered online last night then received an email this morning saying "Hi _____ . Sorry, your order has been delayed. It shouldn't take too long. We'll contact you as soon as it's ready."

Hope they can source one out for me - I ordered in white.

    • Yay, HN called to confirm delivery. Stoked! Goodbye coffee machine I got from gumtree for $15; hello Sunbeam!

  • Would have just picked one up locally if I had realised there was a lot of stock around. The find a store button doesn't work on the clearance sku but does when you search under the standard sku.

  • i received a confirmation from Harvey Norman - TEMANDO the delivery company.
Current status - awaitiing pick up
hopefully you guys will have yours soon too.

    • got them yesterday and it's gorgeous! now im selling its younger brother EM6910 for $200 (negotiable) if anyone interested, PM me with your asking price.

So I noticed on the Sunbeam website that there is "Free Sunbeam Coffee School". Anyone noticed anything in there boxes?

    https://www.sunbeam.com.au/en/Product-Comparison/?subCategor…

I am assuming it is the Sunbeam Coffee School. Wonder if it will be any good. Normally $110pp according to
    http://www.sunbeamcoffeeschool.com.au/

    • Yeah, after unpacking mine I found the voucher for a free Sunbeam coffee lesson.

    • +2

I have booked into the Coffee school. The website didn't accept my code so I called up sunbeam and then gave me a code over the phone. Didn't take them long to answer the call either!

1300 881 861 then went Coffee -> Customer service from the prompt.

I might see some of you at the Brisbane course on the 5/7!

      • +1

Thanks, just did the same for Melbourne :)

  • Bought one!!! Thanks OzB :)

Added $70 for a 5 year replacement wty. Gold!!!

Bondi Junction store still has 10+ in stock

  • Uh oh, web page seems to be having issues!!

"Sorry, we couldn’t find the page you’re looking for. It may have been removed or no longer exists.
To help you get to your destination, you can try the following"

Lucky I bought one in store this morning

  • Got one, + $30 back from AMEX for spending over $150!
    Total $378.95 delivered!
    Thanks OP!

    • Hi ozy - your post piqued my interest, did you have to register your AMEX for this promotion or is it simply a matter of using your card details? Cheers.

      • +1

Yeah it was under the my offers part of the app or site for amex but was limited and targeted..
Sorry Jordonix, wish i had a link but it was limited (like all amex offers) and i dont know if the "first 7500" people have added it to their cards.

        Edit Here it was;

          No sweat - thanks Ozy.

  • Just picked up a white one at Harvey Norman Bennetts Green (Newcastle)! They seemed to have around 9 left under the display model in white but there could be more! It was listed instore as $599 but I just mentioned the online price of $399.

First thoughts are the buttons and knobs seem a little flimsy and hollow compared to the 6910, fingers crossed it makes as good a cup if not better. Definitely looks nicer on the counter!

    • Looks like broden has paid a visit here now, none listed as in stock any more. Damned professionals

  • seems none anyone in sydney area now for the grey/white. anyone seen anyone instore? really keen to get one. Thanks

    • Bondi

      • just called them have none left as of 1.30pm

  • Just called Bondi, Harvey Norman Newcastle the only store with stock in NSW :(

  • Anyone seen any in Melbourne today please?
    Thanks

    • +1

3037 Grey unit. Opened 1 week ago for display according to sales guy.

      • thanks so much!
got it and it was the colour i wanted too

  • if someone in sydney did the old impulse buy and decide now that they don't want it pm me and i will take it :)

  • Sold out in SA :( Silly question, would good guys entertain me if I call up asking for price match?

    • +3

THEY DO! AM GOING TO TAKE A BREAK TO PICK ONE UP RIGHT NOW!!!!

      • +1

$399 + $99 for 5 year extended warranty, thanks op!

        • you can easily negotiate the extended warranty to $70. I bought a machine for a wedding pressy with the 5yr wty.

        • +1

Awww the lady said the original warranty was $129 but since it fell to this price bracket ($399), it dropped to $99 so I didn't bother haggling anymore. Great deal none the less, altho that coulda went to the grinder as it seems like I need one now, gotta keep my eyes peeled! Thanks for the heads up, I'll definitely try and negotiate a better price. The missus is overseas, can't wait to see her expression when she sees it! It's gonna be our first machine, very excited!

        • I got the 5 year replacement warranty for $50 today in SA with the EM7000. Interesting how the price seems to differ everywhere.

They only had white left but it looks great in the white scheme! In fact I think it actually looks better than the full stainless one. It's only part of the side panels that are white and it's one less area that shows up finger prints, also matches my kitchen nicely.

      • what store?

        • Hectorville The Good Guys
TENANCY 3, 60 GLYNBURN ROAD HECTORVILLE

I picked up the last stainless steel one, think they only have a display left.

      • needs more exclamation marks.

  • Thanks!! Picked up the last one from Coburg. Hoppers Crossing and Maribyrnong are sold out. Ringwood may have one left in white.

  • Ordered last night, delivered today. Impressive!

    • Still awaiting Tax Invoice. Shows "processing" in my HN account. Ordered early, so will be pissed if not delivered.

      • Ok, It seems that online orders are allocated to stores, then processed by that store.
Your online order does not necessary secure a unit. The store may just go ahead and sell all its stock before the people doing the online orders allocate stock. It would appear it depends on how the store it goes to conducts their business.

Even the salesperson at the store didn't trust the online system to secure product.

It was suggested here that a unit was available locally. Should have just gone to the store.

So…If you haven't got confirmation of your order shipping there is a really good chance you may not get it.

      • me too, I pretty much did the online order the second the OP posted the bargain here.

Sitting at processing and my credit card debited.

  • Picked up the last one at HN Hobart (display unit). The sales person had bought one this morning. I fell for the 5 year replacement full warranty for $76. Thanks for the post!

    • +1

I fell for the 5 year replacement full warranty for $76. Thanks for the post!

Dear god…..I move that you should be suspended from the OzBargain Community!

      • +1

5 year replacement for $55 here… Gotta screw them down. Especially when your paying to not have to enforce your consumer rights.

        • Yes true, I was totally slack in not bargaining the warranty down. Anyway, every coffee machine I have had hasn't lasted 5 years so the replacement with new warranty seemed worthwhile.

  • Bought one for my wife as an anniversary present. I don't even drink coffee… maybe I should start.

    • +1

      As long as she does.

  • +5

Remember to checkout Domayane, they have them at $398 ($1 cheaper). My local only has Red.

  • Thanks OP. Picked up the last available unit at my local HN.

  • Set mine up this evening, the manual claims it's calibrated to 92degrees but mine was 60degrees in a hot cup. I used the programming mode to boost the temp as far as I could get it, ended up with 70degrees in the cup. 10degrees better than the em5900 it replaced, but still nowhere near 92. Would appreciate if a few people could take measurements of theirs and see if it is consistent. I imagine some temperature is lost between the brew and the cup but 26 degrees of loss would surely be a stretch.
