    • Sounds about right. Heat the cup with steam or boiling water, run the group with the group handle in place for about 5-10 seconds. Let me know what you are getting after trying this.

      • Done all that, with the programming boost +4 degrees repeated several times and a dozen tests the hottest water or coffee will get in the cup is 70 degrees. If it's losing 20+ degrees between the brew and the cup i'll be surprised. Still, made a good coffee. Atleast it's 10 degrees hotter than the em5900 but for a RRP of $949 and all the claims about PID temperature control I was expecting atleast 80 degrees in the cup.

I got mine home and its got a massive scratch on the front :(

Also mrs potatomato may have seen the comments earlier about the machine servicing my brother and friends and shes not verrrry happpppy :( :(

  • hmmm Harvey Norman do their own deliveries so if your not home what happens?? Might have to call tomorrow and ask them that very question.

Oh my goodness. Coffee will never be the same again. Mind blown. Spent a while fiddling grinds but couldn't get much pressure. Tried fresh beans… My life has changed.

  • Is anyone elses online order still at processing?

    • I didn't order via a Harvey Norman account, so I can't really check my status. I ordered on Monday night at around 5pm and received the order confirmation email, but haven't received anything since.

      • hi stoobie, was your credit card charged?

        • Yes, I paid by Paypal and my account has been charged.

        • thanks for that - I paid via PayPal too.

        • Just received delivery now! I didn't even get a shipping email or anything, so I was beginning to wonder whether they were going to cancel the order and refund the money. Hope yours comes soon Mas.

        • thanks mate, enjoy your new toy :)

I'll contact them tomorrow evening If nothing happens.

    • I have tried 2 times to get an answer by phone, last night at the store handling the order and online, plus email contact. Told I would hear back shortly. No response.

My account has changed from "processing" to "New" (whatever that means) and my credit card has now been charged. Apart from that I don't know. Very tempted to buy one from domayne, but don't know what is happening with HN order. Frustrating.

      • Mine is sitting at the same point. Changed to "New" about two days ago. Shall have to keep an eye on Domayne in case.

        • Mine still at processing, emailed with no reply, live chat says they will get store to ring me (no call)

        • order delayed, will be getting in 7-10days. That's fine with me.

  • Thanks OP! Just ordered mine from Domayne Online, called to say that only a few stores stock it but only 9 for postage to me :) can not wait to test this out! Been looking for a new machine for a while but to tight to pay full retail but for 398+9 postage seems a bargain to me!

Went into Joyce Mayne Maroochydore , they have the red on sale for $398 .
I asked them to price match the Harvey Norman $399 white and grey price, which they agreed to , ended up with the S/steel one for $398 as they couldnt find the grey one that was supposed to be in stock so they let me have the s/s one ….

    • S/steel-Silver ones sell for $700 plus, so you have done well.

  • Really keen to see some water temperature measurements from other people.. Mine was 60 degrees by default, highest I can get it is 70 degrees. I can live with 70 but 60 is too cold, if you don't measure you won't be getting the best brew out of your machine. I also want to know if 60 default is normal across all the machines, because the manual says they are calibrated to 92!

    • What are yous using to measure the temperature?

      • A digital thermometer from ozbargain of course! and a milk jug thermometer, both concur.

        • Did you pre heat the jug? Are you pouring without a group head? Be interesting to see how hot mine is. Not that I care that much. It is making heavenly coffee and I fear I am on my way to a serious addiction. Couldn't wait to get home from work to get my fix…

        • Yes everything was pre-heated correctly. I have had to crank mine up as hot as it will go to be satisfied with it, I got espresso at 73.5 degrees measured at the group handle spouts last night, so not bad. It is worth measuring and adjusting though I think, the manuals claims that they are calibrated to 92 degrees were definitely not true in my case.

        • After taking all those steps mines not cracking 70….

  • Em7000 is now missing from Sunbeam website.

  • Got the red stainless steel from Harvey Norman Broadway $9 delivery. Very happy. Delivered in about 2 hours. They had a few greys and reds left

  • Got the grey stainless steel edition from the local harvey norman- they advised me that the store was only clearing the coloured machines, but were giving me the grey one just because.

    …got a Faulty Unit…. extended warranty useless…

Quite embarrassed. Gave it as a wedding pressy. Got a call and my mate asked if I had the receipt as the machine had a fault. No pressure for the coffee. I came over to check it out and indeed it didn't have pressure. Just dribbling slightly some hot water…. approx 50-60C (still good to the touch). Called up Sunbeam tech and they guided us through to diagnosing the issue… including putting that rubber filter cleaner, then pressing the Manual button to see if the coffee gauge moved…… it didn't move. Deemed faulty by the tech. Got the ref # and was told to get a replacement from the store.

Went HN and they called Sunbeam to confirm the authorisation for the return. Annoying thing was that HN didn't have any in stock. Was also told by the manager that they cannot get any more of these units in and their supplier had ziltch.

I asked if I could get the "Stainless Steel" unit on display. They said no. Was asked if I was interested in the Breville BE870 for $570 instead. Told them no. I mentioned to them that the 5 year replacement was quite useless then if there wasn't a chance I can get a replacement. Anyway I just asked for the refund..
Since I absolutely hate getting "gift cards", just gave my mate some c@sh. He's happy and we both ended up drinking instant coffee to cheers the occasion! … told him.. go get yourself a coffee machine :)

The Sunbeam warranty is Repair only for 12 Months. I would have demanded the same product or next equivalent being the stainless steel, not that unreasonable. Domains still have the red in stock I believe

    • BTW, thought mine was dead when I got it. Even with the rubber cleaning disc in would only sometimes show pressure and when it did it wouldn't be much. Wasn't even registering with the beans I had at my smart grinders finest grind. Moved from supermarket beans to fresh ones and hey presto… Pressure!

      • was that you that posted in coffeesnobs?
anyway yea problem was the gauge didn't even move a single bit on both single & double shot baskets with the rubber disc. Also the hot water came out luke warm. Tech was convinced it was faulty. I could've taken it home and tried my 1 week old beans from manna and grinded it with my Macap M2M… but becoz it didn't even move a slight bit… we returned it… mate is convinced he's gonna invest in a Rossa HC or a RossaTr Airespresso..

        • Nope - although I lurk in the shadows there…

Any reasonable deal on a grinder?

  • Isn't this expired? Not available online at either Harvey Norman or Domayne.

  • I ended up purchasing the Breville Smart Grinder for $170.

    • Nice price!

    • Where at? I stupidly used Paypal on the coffee machine so am looking to use the $30 Amex credit on a grinder from Harvey Norman as well.

      Cheers

  • JB Hi Fi Garden City.

  • What would people use for the grinder?

    Breville BCG820BSS for $199

    or

Sunbeam Conical Burr Grinder EM0480 for $159

They are both conical burr grinders but the price difference makes it just that little harder to figure out…

    • +1

Spend the extra $40 and get the Breville BCG820BSS.
Apparently, the EM0480 is messier and my unit has 2 years warranty (not sure about the EM0480).

"Picked up my bcg last night for 2 hundy and couldn't be more impressed with the design and quality. No more em0480 coffee grinds flying everywhere. Perfect dose, perfect consistency every time. 9 coffees so far and the only adjustment required was the amount of beans to express."

Long thread to read here: http://coffeesnobs.com.au/grinders/29852-breville-bcg800-sma…

    • Personally I'd go the 820 as I don't think the 480 has the same control over the dose. I have mine setup for the perfect dose of coffee and it is very convenient to just press the button and wait for it to fill perfectly. It also means that others in the house hold just have to tamp correctly to get a good coffee.

    • Got the Breville 820 at the Myer Sale for $199.00. Seemed to be the cheapest anywhere by at least $50-. You can also order online and get free delivery.

I don't think there are a lot still available in store. At least you can call and check.

  • This works great with my Mazzer mini Grinder

Probably just as good as my Rancilio Silvia but much quicker to warm up and faster frothing milk due to twin thermoblock

    • Yeah they are definitely quicker to heat up, but measure the temperature difference, the Rancilio gets 15 degrees hotter at the top of its thermostat cycle. (70 vs 85)

  • The cuppa tastes good!
    Cheers OP.
The misses is happy and so is my tastebuds!

  • Could someone share a receipt? Might try for a price match

    • I would like that too…kicking myself for missing this deal!!

I managed to score one from Harvey Norman last weekend for $398 …. just mentioned the original sale they had on, and the salesperson called up a local store that had one in stock in granite who was happy to do the same deal.
Might be worth a try if anyone's still following this deal ….
