    The ~$270,000 Victorian taxi license could either be considered a

    1) legitimate charge reflecting the true cost of ensuring public safety and a fair and equitable supply of taxis
    or
    2) an illegitimate charge acting as a barrier to entry protecting taxi organisations concerned for the public safety

    This a judgement that can only be made by you, the citizen. Your decision aligns either with Uber, the Taxi Services Commission of Victoria, or somewhere in between. Regardless of party politics, I urge you to analyse the principles you stand by (whether they be assurance, freedom, safety, consistency, fairness, justice, equality, secularism, etc) and apply them to this situation. Whatever the result, please judge the actions of the government based on your principles. That way, you'll know you're right.
