  • hey this basically looks like an AMEX card?
anyone got the pro's and possible con's to this?

    • It comes with a Visa and an Amex card (two cards).

What this doesn't appear to have is a rewards program. If you put sufficient money through the card, then rewards can make sense. In most cases if you ring up and threaten to cancel a credit card with fees, the annual fee will be waved.

      • it only comes with the Visa. No amex.

  • +2

I just cancelled my Westpac credit card to go with the Citibank Signature with the free free offer - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/123330 Happy with it so far.

  • Yeah - looks a lot like the Citibank deal (http://www.citibank.com.au/familyandfriends/ - still available), only without a few things like the points/reward system or bottle of wine at some restaurants. Not a bad deal at all, but the Citibank is probably better.

    • Does Citibank card includes •2 years extended warranty which Westpac card includes??? Couldn't find it in the card features.

      • citibank is 1yr

2 years extended warranty (vs 1yr)

  • thanks for the info i'll check out the citibank link and see what the dif is

  • Lack of points is what kills the deal. Good perhaps for those with lower incomes that don't want the higher credit limits.

  • platinum neds you to spend $20000 so that next year is free?
do oz bargainers spend $20000 p.a.?

    • where do you get that figure from?

Outside of this promotional period, annual fee waived in the first year (currently saving $90 a year) will apply as well as $0 annual fee in subsequent years - when you spend $20,000 or more on purchases in the previous year using your card.

      • I think that is for people who AREN'T in the promotional period, ie the big spenders who actually get platinum credit cards and spend lots of money

    • It clearly says:

$0 annual fee for the life of the card when you apply between 1 April 2014 - 22 June 2014.

  • The travel insurance excesses are excessive, as is their arbitrary calculation regarding the value of certain items. p15,16 of the insurance policy.

  • Anyone already with one of these tried taking up this offer?

I was going to cancel my card, but it looks like I can switch to a platinum card and keep it for free.

    • +1

Switches, upgrades, customers accessing employee benefits or packaged cards (unless the package conditions state otherwise) are ineligible for this offer.

  • Annual Fee $0? It is only for the first year
