So basically this is PINCHme but where you pay for the privilege of guaranteeing that you receive something. Anyhoo - you mention that there are 3 questions per product, that's 30 questions assuming a 10-product pack. On top of that there's the reviews, and social sharing stuff. That's a pretty big time commitment.

    • +3

Hmm… privacy policy also leaves open the possibility of being spam-marketed to as part of the offering.

    • +2

      Hi zzyss,

Thanks for your comment. My understand with PINCHme is that you have to log in each week and hope to get a sample before they are all taken, there are no guarantees you will get something and I think you can only request a small number - I could be wrong though.
With Redpawpaw you only have to sign up once and then every month we will send you over $30 worth of products for you to try at home.
The survey is really quick to complete, just a rating out of 10, and two multiple choice per product. The reviews and social sharing is optional. If you do share a review though we will enter you into the monthly prize draw as a thank you for taking the time to spread the word.
But don't forget that if feedback is not your thing, you can always subscribe to the 'Trial Only' package instead :)

Has anyone else found that when you put in your credit card information the website is not https?
I dont really feel comfortable putting in my banking information without confirmation that my information is safe.
    Any help with this rep??

    • Hi there,
sorry about that, we had a technical glitch with our SSL certificate. Our developers are working on getting it up ASAP. It will definitely be there tomorrow if not later today.

    • +1

Yes there is no HTTPS for the CC input!
      But I went ahead anyway.

Hopefully they will fix this soon.

    • This is sorted now - https://www.redpawpaw.com.au/

      • +5

You are using GeoTrust Extended Validation but your webserver does not send the intermediate certificates, which causes issue on Firefox.

    • When I went to the website and went through the process, each and every page was https, including the credit card info page.

  • +19

Just in case the rep hasn't said it enough:
Some of the products you will receive in the very first box which will be delivered in early to mid May will be

    • full size new premium jam
    • full size Mentos very berry roll
    • full size Mentos sugar-free gum
    • 40pk Pine O Cleen wipes
    • 200g Green's Pancake Shake
    • 2-3 Finish dishwashing tablets
    • Sachet of Nivea moisturiser (ladies only sorry!)
    • 100g Kellogg's cracker chips
    • Saxa salt grinder

    and more!

    • +3

      and more!

But the rep is pretty active, so kudos to them.

    • +2

haha. Ok I'll stop now ;)

      • +2

        Wait. What do I get?!

        • +4

An ozbargainer "created" 120 email addresses for family and friends. Then he received dozens of free samples by listing his single home address as a block of 150 units. Once his home was overflowing with 7 years of free samples he couldn't use, his wife gave him an ultimatum… "This junk goes or I do."

Thus Redpawpaw was born! The $10 is so you take up the $5 option as a bargain. The $5 option is to take the wife out to dinner to get lucky a different night to his birthday.

          Just joking. ;-p…

        • Its you isn't it?

        • ;-)

  • +3

One question - is there room to leave delivery instructions for drivers, to leave the parcel on the verandah if nobody is home? I don't want to be going to the post office each month to pick up the delivery.

    • Also can you pause your membership….some of us have holidays

    • Hi there,
No there isn't at the moment but that's a great suggestion so I'll discuss it with our developers. We use Fastway Couriers to deliver so they don't take the parcel to the postoffice, they either leave it at your home if it is safe to do so, or leave a card and try again if it isn't safe to leave it.

      • +1

If you could confirm about delivery instructors, I'll give it a try!

        Thanks

  • will try it out.

    • Thank you!

Why did you call yourselves Red Paw Paw?

    • +6

We called ourselves Redpawpaw after the fruit red pawpaw (also known as red papaya).

Red pawpaw is actually quite a polarising fruit in that some people really love it and some people are not fond of it at all. Redpawpaw the business encourages our subscribers to share their views and suggestions about the products they try each month; it doesn't matter if they love them all or not, it is about "escaping the same old" by being open to new discoveries!…just like in the video on our website - isn't that little girl gorgeous? :)

      • +1

Yep that girl is cute! :-)

  • Rep,
after payment and menage settings, how to check my subscribe status?I subscribed for annual plan but i got receive nothing confirmation.

    Please advise

    • Hi there,
Please log in and go to Manage settings - you should be able to see what package you subscribed to there. Please also check your spam folder because when you sign up and pay for a subscription you should get an email both from us and from eWAY confirming your payment.

  • Looks like a good deal to me. I love samples especially ones that are good size so you can use the product a few times before you decide if you like it.

    • Me too :)

  • +2

    This sounds fun!
I spend too much time deciding what groceries to get, I like trying new products, I like receiving things in the mail, and I like sharing my opinion on things.
This is perfect for me. It's like chrisco meets market research.

    Are the spots limited?

    • Hi Sage,
Thanks for your positive feedback, we LOVE trying new products too.
Memberships are limited to 10,000 for our first box which will be delivered in early to mid May.
After that we may increase the membership each month but only if our brand partners have enough product to provide to our subscribers because we make sure everyone gets over $30 of product every month to try.

  • +1

Do you ship to PO Boxes?

  • +19

Cannot believe some of the questions…i feel sorry for the rep!

What if MH370 emerges from a wormhole in the time/space continuum and crashes on the guy bringing me some replacement Jam…will I be charged for replacement Jam or could I opt for marmalade instead" etc!!!

It's a grocery trial FFS, you'll get a sample of stuff, not your weekly shopping list. If you arent up for some variety and perhaps a little excitement in your diet/household chores, or if you have a disability that precludes you from mainstream non-perishables then choose accordingly!

    • I'm sure alot of the things would be products we'd buy anyway.

    • +2

Thanks for your message but don't worry about me - I'm just excited to see some many OzBargainers signing up today :) Thanks everyone!!

  • +1

Interested in signing up tomorrow (after they sort out their SSL)

    • Glad to hear it - thanks! Will definitely have the SSL sorted by then - will hopefully be later today.

    • +1

      Hi Trojan,
SSL is all sorted, thank for your patience

I like the idea, just hope you add WA to your list of shipping destinations soon! Rep: feel free to PM me when you do.

    • Thanks for your positive comment Teri - please feel free to leave your details by clicking the "Keep Me Updated" button on our website and that will mean you will definitely find out once we announce new delivery locations.

  • +1

Sounds interesting but a shame that you don't deliver to southeast Queensland yet. :|

    • Sorry about that - as we are only shipping from our warehouses in Melb and Syd at the moment, the postage to some places is too high. We do plan ship from a Brisbane warehouse in the near future so I'm sure we will be able to deliver to your area when we do. If you leave your details by clicking our "Keep me updated" button, we will be sure to update everyone as we add more delivery locations.

  • I signed up. This sounds interesting. I hope I get lots of cat stuff.

  • +2

Aww, wish you posted to WA :(

  • Damn no shipping to Darwin! Fail :-(

  • thanks Rep, signed one month and see how it is going ;)

    • Thanks so much for giving us a try :)

  • +5

I feel confused as to whether this should be considered a 'bargain' or merely free advertisement.

Don't get me wrong, I think the idea is great and the value is great. However, is it considered a bargain when this service is at its normal price?

Imagine the PS Vita if it started at $199 and someone posted it up on OzBargain. Is that considered a 'bargain'? It's a great value for price but not exactly.. a 'bargain'…or is it?
I feel the same with this product, its a great value but not exactly a bargain.

    • +4

Think about it the other way. If they released PS Vita for $2000 and gave us a coupon for $100 discount, it would be bargain in some book, but I wouldn't want to waste 1 min checking it. Personally, value is more important than discount, and I look for value in bargain.

  • +1

    No love for WA?

    • +1

      no one loves WA

      • +3

Well, everyone should love WA. Being the engine room of the Australian economy and all.

    • +1

      Not yet sorry :(
Even though personally I love WA, and especially the beaches there, at the moment we are shipping from our warehouses located in Melbourne and Sydney. The deliver rates to WA are too high when shipping from those locations unfortunately.

However, we do plan to ship out of Perth in the coming months so if you would like to be notified when that happens, please click on "Keep Me Updated" and enter your details so we can add you to our newsletter where we will post updates such as when we start shipping to WA.

  • Are these items close to their expiry dates?

    • +2

      Hi Unity1,

The focus of our monthly boxes is on newly launched grocery products so most of the product will be fresh off the line. There will be some existing products in there also but this is not clearance product that manufacturers can't sell, it is product that they want our subscribers to try so they may consider purchasing them in future. Each product has different amounts of expiry when they are produced, in fact I think potato chips only have 12 weeks even when they are fresh off the line - but I am not expecting our brand partners will give us product that is low expiry so you will have lots of time to enjoy the products at your leisure.

  • Signed up! Just curious though, will I be intimated (w/ tracking info) when you ship out the stuff or will it be a surprise goody bag :-)

    • Thanks so much for signing up! We will email you when your box leaves our warehouse so you know roughly when to expect it. We ship from Melb and from Syd so it will depend on how far away from those locations you are as to when your box will arrive after the email is sent.

  • signed up thanks

    • Me Too

    • :)

  • Just joined.

When are they sending the first batch out?

    • +1

I would expect all our subscribers will receive their first box by 15th May and then by the 15th of each month after that. Thanks so much for supporting us, we really appreciate it!

  • I am a bit concerned about how I can leave feedback on items that I cannot use. eg. No dishwasher to use the dishwasher tablets! Surely they wouldn't want us to 'make it up' - or would they!! hehe! Anyway I took the plunge and signed up for the $50 annual fee. I hope that they last that long!!

    • So do we!
No we don't want you to make it up, you can always skip a product that you didn't try that month. I'm sure there will be lots of other products in there that will be suitable though. Thanks for taking the plunge :)

  • -8

Their is no saving, no special offer, no discount for ozbargain members its the normal everyday price, as someone else stated this is just an advertisement.

Because of the above I am negging and am happy for a mod to explain why this is a bargain when you retract it :/

    • +3

Hi Stemcell, thanks for your comment and sorry to hear you aren't happy and don't believe we sound like a bargain.

While we haven't offered a discount, we have launched on OzBargain first before any other sites or publications know about it so it does give OzBargain members a chance to sign up before anyone else.

We only have limited subscriptions available too and so once we sell out there won't be anymore available for this month.
It is not easy as a new startup business getting the word out there, especially since we are not run by a big multi-national company with deep marketing pockets.
I am a one man (women actually) show and so I really appreciate the opportunity to tell the OzBargain members about Redpawpaw and invite them to join as I truly believe our offer is a fantastic bargain for consumers because you are getting $30 of groceries to try each month for less than the cost of delivery.

    • +6

With your logic the Humble Bundle wouldn't be a bargain either. The fact that you get $30 worth of products for $5 makes it a bargain, as simple as that.

    • -2

I'm with you on this one, this is SPAM folks

    • +1

Neg vote removed overnight with no explanation, good luck Sarah with your venture it seems you have the support of the forum and a Mod :/ You must have had quite an income boost in the last 24 hours and I hope you don't get overwhelmed being a sole trader.

      • +4

The neg was removed by the combined weight of the community negs on your comment. This is how the site works.
        There was no Mod intervention.

  • +1

Tried signing up, kept getting 'insert suburb' error even though my suburb was entered.

    • Hi Vidgamer,

We have an address validation function on the signup page which means that as you start typing your address into address field 1 and then a number of options should appear in a drop down list for you to choose your address from. If you select your address from the list it should then populate all the other fields for you automatically. Hope that help.

    • I was getting that , it was actually the address above it giving the error " i had written Road when it just wanted Rd " , weird but worked.

      • it is a bit weird but apparently this is how Australia Post address validation software likes it - thanks for being persistent!

    Question to store Rep

Should the business not succeed the way you are planning and the company goes belly up - do customers get a refund and how ?

    • Pretty sure matters such as that are governed by law. I'm not an expert by any means so I really can't comment any further.

      • Should the business not succeed the way you are planning and the company goes belly up - do customers get a refund and how ?

if it goes belly up you go into the list of creditors (as if the money you paid was a "loan" to them) with everyone else they owe money to. so pretty much you end up having to fight with anyone else they owe money to (banks etc)

    • You could apply for a charge back via your credit card company, I'm pretty sure, they put the risk on the merchant not the customer.

  • Ok will give it a try as it sounds good on paper…. as they say the proof is in the pudding!
I have signed up and look forward to seeing the "and more"s
Good luck with it and hope it works well for all parties here ;)

    • Thank so much :)

  • hi guys. just signed up. got a confirmation email saying payment was OK. then 4 more emails saying it was declined. anyone else have issues?

    • +1

hey there, sorry to hear that. I will check into it for you. Have just replied your email.
Haven't seen this happen to anyone else thankfully.

      • Thanks Sarah. Prompt professional reply.

Hope this really takes off for you.

  • Sounds interesting. Signed up on a monthly sub.

    • :o)

  • +6

$50 done. Love getting surprise OzBargain parcels that I forgot I ordered… Now it'll be a monthly occurrence.

Ignore the naysayers rep - this forum often turns into keyboard warrior central. I think people actually expect to be considered cool by being pointlessly negative about deals.

    • +1

Thanks for signing up and thanks for your encouragement too! There have been lots of positive comments too and it is great to hear everyone's feedback even if some people don't think our offer is for them. I hope you love your first box!

  • no paypal :(

    • +2

No sorry. Paypal is very expensive when you have a low value item like $5 per month. Hopefully they will change the way the charge and then we can offer their payment service too soon.

  • +3

Disappointing that you don't sell red paw paw :p

    • +2

      ;o)

  • +1

I'll take the bait, hook line & sinker $50 subscription done!

    • Nice to have you hooked nismo33 - thanks for joining!

  • There's not much (in the first box at least) that we would use.

    1. full size new premium jam - tick! (but would normally buy $2 jam)
    2. full size Mentos very berry roll - don't eat lollies
    3. full size Mentos sugar-free gum - don't eat the toxic poison used as sweetners
    4. 40pk Pine O Cleen wipes - we use white vinegar and rags instead of adding wipes to landfill
    5. 200g Green's Pancake Shake - would use, but already make own for cents
    6. 2-3 Finish dishwashing tablets - no dishwasher
    7. Sachet of Nivea moisturiser - I don't WHY manufacturers send out sachets. They are totally USELESS because the amount is so small, you can't judge if to buy a product. I'd rather send a 20ml bottle to 10 people, than a 1ml sachet to 100.
    8. 100g Kellogg's cracker chips - again we make our own chips/popcorn
    9. Saxa salt grinder - wouldn't buy this normally unless iodised

Having said that, if you don't like it - don't sign up. I mean, gee… It would probably cost them more than $5 just to ship an empty box, not counting the added items.

I'll reserve judgement (not that mine matters to them anyway). I am interested though, what "extra" items people receive… and… what month/box #2 contains.

Full marks to the rep for their 100% positive answers too.

    • +3

      Hi realfamilyman,

Thanks for your feedback! You sound very healthy, good on you. Sorry there isn't much in the box for you this time. Maybe next month will suit you better.

We will have different products every month so there is bound to be some products you will enjoy. Redpawpaw is about escaping the same old and discovering something new so even if it isn't something you usually buy it can still be fun to try something different for a change.

Re the extra items, well we have to keep a few things as a surprise ;)

      • I received two small sample boxes of cereal today from pinchme. In it was a card saying there's a third flavour available - blueberry & vanilla. So why on earth not send it TOO then!? (Most people would be inclined to buy that flavour after tasting it, before boring almond!)

I do lots of free surveys/samples though. So paying to receive one is a bit of an obstacle, LOL. I'll definitely be watching Redpapwpaw in case the items become more suited to us though.

Can I ask… What happens if someone lives in an area you DO post to when they sign up … but then moves to area where you don't?

    • I was happy to subscribe to this to support a new aussie business, $5 a month is nothing when each sample would literally cost you 50 cents
