80,000 Bonus Qantas Points on Citibank Signature Card

90

This deal is for new Citibank customers so I doubt there will be anyone left after the free card for life deal. Anyway, this deal gives you 80,000 bonus Qantas Points once you make an eligible purchase on the card within three months approval.

Note reduced annual fee of $299 per year (usually $395), plus an annual $49 fee for the Citibank Qantas rewards program. Still good value considering that 80,000 points could easily give you an international flight worth more than $1,000. Or you could redeem for atleast a $500 gift card (https://store.qantas.com/Catalogue.a2?ProductCategoryId=7647)

Other usual features of the card:
- Earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible purchases
- Uncapped points earning potential
- Complimentary Priority Pass™ Membership and two airport lounge visits per year
- Complimentary interstate and international travel insurances.

This deal is not advertised on the Citibank site which only has a 60,000 bonus point offer with a $299 once-off fee for life.

There is also the Select card with 100,000 bonus points but the annual fee on this card will be $749.

"Select card with 100,000 bonus points but the annual fee on this card will be $749." Cooks dinner every night, great card.

Cooks dinner every night, great card.

I have no idea what this means. Would you please explain?

  • "Qantas Points will ordinarily be credited within 6-8 weeks of making an eligible purchase."

Any idea what an eligible purchase is? Can't seem to easily find it, despite reading the fine-print.

    • Usually any retail purchase of any amount but excludes cash advances, refunds, and balance transfers.

  • Can anyone offer comment about the Priority Pass? Is it a good perk, or a gimmick? Seems to me that you need to buy 'premium drinks' but light refreshments and snacks are available - but no detail on what that means.

no u dont need to buy any drinks if you dont wish to but unlike Airline business lounges which usually include unlimited alcoholic drinks, in these lounges you need to purchase separately.

Membership gives you two free entries per year (either both for yourself or you+frnd). After the two free entries, you can pay $35 to enter.

Wrong. 2 Free passes only for you. guests cost extra

You might do better getting a Diner's card ($135) - unlimited entry to lounges all over the world (but not Oz! Mind you Priority pass is only Cairns and Melbourne..)..usually with free food and drinks (inc alcohol if that is your thing).

I just used mine at LAX today and it was certainly more comfortable than in the crowded waiting areas of Alaska`s terminal.

Free soft drink, juices, tea & coffee. Free fruit, yoghurt, pancakes, soup and some bread/muffins. House wine and on tap beers were restricted to 3 drinks total. You could buy more substantial snacks like pizzas

    • Thanks everyone, as usual some great info provided! ;)

  • Not sure if it's the same card but wouldn't the no fee for life deal be better ? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/123330 - Happy with it so far.
80K points would be equivalent to a return economy to somewhere like Singapore (60K points last I looked) which is about $1K these days.

    • dont you still have to pay airport taxes ?

      • yep you do

      • Yep, a little over $400……and you can get sale fares @ approx $700 return……so 60,000 points are worth about $300…….just saying

        • +3

unless you use them for business upgrade which would be more worth it

    • +2

If you are going to actually use the card in the future then the no fee for life deal is better, this deal is geared towards those who want a large point bonus and then cancel the card after one year.

      • So correct me if I am wrong, but I could join, make a purchase and wait for the points to be credited. Then straight away cancel the card and not have to pay the annual fee? Wouldn't I be better to join the card with 100,000 points if I can do this?

        • You would still need to pay the first year fee.

  • 80,000 points could easily give you an international flight worth more than $1,000

Dreaming! Qantas has one of the highest "FUEL TAX", making the points extremly low value

    • +1

Indeed - worst thing you can do with QFF points is using them to fly.. Better off exchanging for Big W vouchers. No fuel tax.
