No, it was "Excludes Apple and Amazon Kindle branded products"
Oh… I expected Apple. Wasn't aware that Kindle was excluded…
Reading with FLUX on any compatible device FTW
http://justgetflux.com/The Kindle PW that's releasing this year is rumored to have a far higher res screen (comparable or better than Kobo aura HD).
Will it have a bigger screen? I feel the 6" one too small …
It will not. But that will result in a higher pixel density of 300 ppi, as opposed to 265 of the aura HD. The screen is roughly the size of a novel's page as it is, so I don't think it's too small.

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/kindle-paperwhite-rumors-di…It will get a screen that's flush with the device instead of slightly recessed in. Screen has matte glass supposedly.
It's expected in Q2.
Importantly, the slightly increased resolution will be irrelevant to 95% of people. Unless you are reading PDFs (in which case you have the wrong tool for the job) or diagram-heavy material (ditto).
Colour would be good. I miss my picture books.
There are colour e-ink devices but they aren't common, possibly because most people who buy them don't read picture books, or possibly because of cost.

OW doesn't stock Kindle.
OW started selling the Paperwhite recently. You can also buy it in store at Target for $159.

The one I saw at the Richmond store on Saturday said 'Kindle' on it. Was it a fake?
The problem that people are having is whether they have the 1st gen or the 2nd gen Kindle Paperwhite. Fortunately, there are two ways to check without opening the retail box.
1) The first method is to check the prefix of the serial number label on the box. The link below shows the serial number prefix for each model and country.
http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kindle_Serial_Numbers
2) The second method is to check the words printed on the sides of the box. The 1st gen has "kindle paperwhite" printed on two lines. The 2nd gen has the same words printed on one line.
Also if you have already opened up the box, check the back of the unit. The 1st gen has "kindle" printed whereas the 2nd gen has "amazon" printed. Is the 2013 edition 1st or 2nd generation?
The 1st generation was in 2012. Usually if it's called paperwhite 2013 it means 2nd generation.
wasn't it 11% cheaper yesterday?
