The website shows it as $778

    • Same here. Have PM'ed rep to check.

      • Looks like it's been fixed.

    • The price has been updated to $599.

Can you do this any cheaper without an OS?

Assumptions are full of errors too.

          Umm linux?

or discounted windows from educational/government partnerships etc.

    Can you quote without OS?

  • This PC wouldn't be very good if you're a gamer with the onboard graphics so in that case there'll be an extra espense for a dedicated graphics card. Also as been said the web site shows $778 + delivery. What's with the $599 quoted in the topic?.

Although i just bought an AMD Quad core 3.8ghz PC box built with 8GB ram, 2TB HDD, dvd burner, HD7750 2gb dedicated graphics but no OS though (already have Win 8.1) for $586.95 delivered from gameegg on ebay. I say shop aroud.

    • Components allow for you to put in your own card, 7970 or 280x :) also would prefer a b85 and save $30

      • +1

wow 280x there's another $349-$399 to the order price.

        • +1

wrong, as it's not a gaming PC, that 280x will melt down this cheap PSU.

        • +4

The PSU is a Thermaltake 500W which i think could handle a single 280x.

        • You probably don't know how they play game with PSU, MAX 500W = Rated 200W-250W. If you are a PC gamer, you must to know this basic game, otherwise it will meltdown when you are high.

        • +2

I use a HD7850 (which is the old 280? idk) on a ancient 250w MAX psu. I don't do drugs so I expect it won't meltdown.

From an electronic technician of 20y and engineering student - get a decent PSU. I too wouldn't tryst these cheap power supplies with a powerful GPU, they regulate poorly and get 'noisy' power wise under load causing instability of all sorts and potential damage.
Just because it runs doesnt mean it is fine.
I try to stick with seasonic supplies but Delta, CWT, Enermax and a couple of others make very good supplies. Anything with corsair or antec on it is from one of these so also good. Only high end ThermalTake or Coolermaster PSUs are worth touching, and are generally overpriced.
Stick to PSUs recommended by Hardware Secrets or JonnyGuru is generally the best bet.

      • I wouldn't recommend a 7970 or 280X with the included PSU. At best it should be considered a 350W PSU so I wouldn't get anything more than a 7870 or 270X.

    • As title: SOHO. No one expect it's a gaming PC.

      • ok just saying you could easily turn it into a gaming PC with a dedicated graphics card.

  • Free shipping and it's a deal rep, update please!

  • Not really a bad price considering it comes with Windows 7 HP.

  • How much is shipping to 2607 postcode? Can you instal SSDdrive?

  • Hi Rep… Any chance of an upcoming deal on a really good gaming system?

Preferably only the tower-case with no O/S.

    Thanks!

  • The PSU is only a cheap 500W, but it is a Thermaltake branded one, so it might be ok for some gaming on GPUs that aren't very power hungry.

This $169 HD 7850 or a GTX 660 for around $220 would give you a cheap, decent gaming machine.

Even higher end GPUs might be OK if light on the power draw, my system draws less than 400W peak at the wall with an R9 280x 1000/1100, but they are overpriced and out of stock all over right now due to the mining boom. Even GTX 760 and 770 are overpriced ATM, due to the AMDs being sold out everywhere.
