    • What if you are on unlimited? How to use that $10 credit?

      • +1

you can use it for your next month. Or you can buy a 1GB data pack with it. Or use it for international calls.

        • OK Thanks. Very competitve between Yatango, boost and amaysim now. My redbull mobile expire next month, so need to start plan ahead.

Be quick, this offer is available for for a limited time only

I doubt it, they will just assign a different code as they have been most of the last year…

Actually Amaysim PAYG is a pretty OK alternative for those walking from Live Connected in their recent debacle. Especially good for lower volume users as their in no monthly minimum and call are 12c per min, data 5c/MB.
Also a good place to park for a while until some better offers come up. The Vaya and current Live Connected plans are horrible.

    EDIT:
Amaysim international rates can be surprisingly good too for a mobile - depends on country: https://www.amaysim.com.au/international-call-costs.html#let…

Suggest grabbing the 10GB data plan if planning on sticking with Amaysim PAYG. (1c/MB if my math ain't flawed)

      • Yes they have "bolt on" data packs that can be added anytime/.
I think the sweet spot with bang vs buck is 4GB for $29 but only 30 days expiry, whereas the 10GB has 365 days expiry.

The 10GB pack for $99.90 is actually quite useful. For some months I use bugger all but for some months I would use a lot due to having to tether & work. It's like buying 10x 1GB pack but overflow the unused data to the following month.

The 10GB pack for $99.90 is actually quite useful.

It would be more useful if the Optus network wasn't so slow and congested… There are still many areas in inner Melbourne where I can't get 3G and only Edge… >:(

        • True, but similar issues with Telstra, not to mention Voda.

    • yeh I have 2 PAYG for the kids , they don't surf the net on their phone ( yet ) so it works out really well , will get data pack when that changes. I wish I could get them the live connected $12 per month deal I got a while ago…those were the days.

    • Hi, We are with Live Connected. Haven't had any problems. Nothing seems to have changed with Vaya taking over. Is there something we have missed. We are on the $15 with $700 worth of calls and 1.5g of data.
Sorry looks like I should have read on. Must say I have read Whirlpool re Live Connected previously but it is a long thread.

      • +1

This. LiveConnected started moving customers from their 2yo plans to new more expensive plans or Vaya.

  • I get an invoice every month for $15.99 from live connected… this is news to me about price increases, should I be worried?

Suggest you go to whirlpool forums and look under the LiveConnected thread.

  • "1MB Data Rounding" =\

    • +2

It's session rounding and as I often say how relevant this is depends on your phone and your dropout rate. It's never been a problem for me. I am on AYG and when I turn on data at 5c/MB, usually I find that I have spent between 5c and 30c after a few hours, even with checking a couple of email accounts, doing a bit of light surfing, including OzBargain, and receiving the usual push notifications.

    Dont know how keen I'd be to adopt. 5.00 >to 10.00 +up to 50"$"-per 1,000 Mb(Aka 5cpMB)

Depending on your call vol./need, "681minutes"-exchangeable @ 65c-per 350 MB &up to "4G" may work out cheaper from Coolies this wk. Equivalent to 100$/qtr although would flex to 180d going purely 9 GB pm versus 1 GB pm.

  • ^40.00= $10GB Last Time I checked! But would be interesting to hear which part of my post you found incorrect. I would feel honoured, as I also use OPTUS(Woolworth) in pursuit of 'better.'

FYI - I use the term 'Depending,' whilst value is surely shifting toward Online / IP services.

  • Off topic, speaking of the PAYG plan, if I get the ~$100 10GB 365-day data plan it'll cost me at least $160 a year (due to the 90 days expiry on top-ups). This is a good deal if you know you'll make less than an hour of calls per week. If you think you'll be making closer to 2 hours a week on average then it looks like the darkside, Vaya, is the way to go, with their $18/month plan.

It's horrible how responsible people are forced to make irresponsible choices due to the shifty practices of the mobile industry. Vaya intentionally makes their $16 plan so close in price and crappy in features compared to the $18 plan knowing that 300MB is a good ballpark for the average limit reached per month, helping them profit greatly if people exceed that number. I like Amaysim's transparency but they lose points for not having a fair compromise between recharging for a whole year and recharging for a month. All of these companies lose points for per MB billing since it's common practice to turn of one's data to avoid rogue apps from downloading/uploading small amounts of data.

Right now the majority of us on budget plans can get by easily on $14 a month (or less) if we weren't forced into buying things we don't need or otherwise penalised. If Amaysim, ALDI and Vaya are charged by Optus for the data their customers use then this market forces business they're talking about is complete BS. For example, if 4GB can be had for $29 but the expiry was set for 365 days instead of 30 days and charged per kilobyte you'd quickly see the cost of living drop for many Australians. But since they're privately-owned businesses we just have to take it and accept their excuses…

Worst of all, I don't like signing up to anything to more than a monthly basis and with Vaya threatening they'll increase prices (unless you sign up to the contract) and Amaysim only offering one 365-day data top-up plan we're kind of forced to make a long-term decision.
