  • bought one yesterday, will call them and ask for $2 refund. thx OP

  • Damn! Bought a $25 one for $11 from Coles (44GB if activated by tomorrow, otherwise 22GB)
Didn't want to wait for delivery of SIM.

Added to weekly Coles shopping to qualify for Flybuys 4 week offer - so effectively $8.71😉

Using it to park long term number for over 1 year in dual SIM phone, & use $25 credit as PAYG. The great advantage with Amaysim

    • Does purchase of a SIM card be counted for $50 x 4 weeks quota in Coles flybuy?
I thought purchase of gift card and phone SIM is not counted in the $50 quota.

      • "Congratulations🎉" on Receipt shows it did! Gift Card won't.

Successfully done it at Woolies & Coles.
But found Staff get confused about this & give incorrect advice - as SIMs are processed LIKE gift cards.
(SIMs can't be paid for with gift card or Flybuys Dollars.)
But are a valid purchase for 4 week offer.

4 week offer T&C: "transaction excludes purchases of all gift cards, iTunes cards, charity items/donations, tobacco and tobacco-related products, Coles Best Buys online exclusive products and online delivery fees."

        • You come to the conclusion that "SIMs can't be paid for with gift card or Flybuys Dollars", probably due the Belong SPs purchased in Woolworths. There're many cases that SIM card purchase can be paid by gift cards (plus extra discount) from others and my own experience, e.g..

Although I haven't purchased all SIM cards, I think gift card is more acceptable if not all at Coles.

          • @Neoika: Was replying about SIM card purchase - at Coles

Tried to buy a few different telcos SIMs at Coles using discounted Coles gift card & twice with Flybuys Dollars.

System said it was invalid to pay by gift card for gift card (was only buying the SIM, but it's processed like a gift card by Coles). Staff were needed to proceed & pay normally.

Your linked example is not about that.

            • @INFIDEL: Proof PMed.

              • @Neoika: Happened last week with Amaysim purchase.

            • +1

@INFIDEL: Maybe try adding other groceries next time. I had a combined order of groceries with an amaysim SIM card and was able to pay using a Coles Group & Myer gift card (bought from Coles Express). I used a self-checkout. Haven't tried with Flybuys Dollars.

              • @trixieb: As I did last week buying groceries to make up min for Flybuys 4 week offer…

Rejected Amaysim SIM purchase using Coles gift card or Flybuys Dollars!

              • +1

@trixieb: As we are using different gift cards, with different issuers & conditions, buying different SIMS - results will vary!

As I rarely buy SIMs at supermarkets, for me it's easier not to use other means of payment to buy SIMs.
Its quicker through self service checkout if not waiting for staff to workout & resolve the problem!

So will keep store credit & gift cards for normal purchases.

                • @INFIDEL: If you have another Coles nearby, it would be interesting to check if it will work.

I had a similar experience with using a Grocery gift card to buy a gift card at Coles. It usually works but one of the Coles (serviced checkout) rejected the transaction. I went to a different Coles and was able to buy a gift card.

                  • @trixieb: Tried at 4 local Coles!

                    • @INFIDEL: Perhaps Coles updated their system recently. I bought end of last year.

                      • @trixieb: Yes - always a possible issue with systems. Something that both annoys & interests me!

(eg Was waiting for bus yesterday. App said it had left. It hadn't. Arrived 5 minutes late.
Driver explained their GPS system was down with change in map used.
So something I was used to relying on for years - no longer operated. Lucky I wasn't in a hurry.
                        Got system message much later.)

Not worth the effort or concern - for my rare supermarket SIM purchase, as can use gift card or Flybuys Dollars any time for groceries.

                        • @INFIDEL: fyi unlike mobile recharge vouchers, mobile starter packs can generally be purchased with gift cards and earn rewards points at colesworth :)

  • My problem with buying Amaysim SIM online is that it was already pre-activated before sending to me, despite I want to port in a number, and few days were lost from that 28 days. How to overcome it?
No such problem if I buy it from a Supermarket.

    • +1

Buy as to port in. Arrives unactivated.
Can still use their number, or port the number you told them when buying SIM.

      If already activated…
Amaysim resets the expiry date after first use (within about 2 weeks of purchase) - it's what has happened for years now.

Otherwise contact support - often give a credit for missed service time.

  • +2

I have bought these in the past from amaysim and they can't be activated on PAYG, only the plan you bought.

You have to contact them to convert your plan.

Starter packs from the shops can be activated on PAYG straight away.

  • Terms & Conditions shows $10 price.

    OP @tonester,

Where did you get the T&C on your post from?

The product page has a link for the T&C that shows $18 discount, hence $12 price?

  • My guess is that it's a price error.
Someone just copy and paste from previous PDF and forgot to change the details. 😆

  • Any suggestions on what to use a second SIM for? e.g. new user discounts for uber eats etc. I'm guessing referring yourself doesn't work due to device IDs
