thats right, it "looks" like a good deal but the hotels that actually have 25% off are not the ones YOU want..

Promo code applied -$117.35 (25% off)

My 25% off went right back on!

    • Taxes are not included in the advertised prices.

        What is this? America?

        • No it's the internet, so they play under international rules, which in essence mean, show you the lowest price they can to suck you in, many of the hotel sites do the same.

Eg Hotel club shows the prices in bold type which includes your accumulated savings, from previous purchases.

So be savvy and learn to read the final figure.

Make the same booking on another site to calculate your true savings….

        • The website is American so yes, they're playing by American rules.

        • Those bastards!

          only if logged in :)

but they do give the total price including taxes regardless

    • i see this happen as well in about half the cases i use codes like this. doesn't happen ALL the time so just need to look around and continue to compare with other websites. 25% is a decent discount though so hopefully i can get something.

  • Prices are also in USD. So you really need to compare with sites that charge in AUD to see if the final cost, including taxes and currency adjustment is really a bargain.

  • I'm looking at booking a hotel room in a couple months, and I think every day I come onto OzBargain I find a code making the room cheaper! Thanks! :) (I'll book tomorrow…you know, just in case :p)

    • you can avoid all that worry by booking via tingo who have price drop refunds :)

      • Not the same thing as it only takes into account a price drop in room rates, and not discount coupons that come out.

        • no, includes publicly available discount codes :)

  • You have to add taxes as well :-(

  • 25%???!! Grr, just used their MORECHEAP coupon code for 20% off that ended yesterday. Anyway, it really depends on which hotel. I booked a hotel in Kyoto, Japan for April and the hotel already offers a 50% off for 4 nights stay or more. The 20% just made it even cheaper that I could have got from any other online agents I've searched. (or from the hotel itself)

Use trivago for price comparison, it's more comprehensive than tripadvisor.

Great deal anyway, if it applies to the hotel that you want.

    • no free cancellation? perhaps use tingo to price match next time…
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/109936#comment-1494830

      • There is free cancellation from cheaptickets, at least for the hotel I booked from them. Not sure on the other hotels.

I did check Tingo but that rooms were not available from that particular hotel on those dates despite other sites have them.

    • Temjin use this 4 for price comparisons- Trivago, Wego.com, Hotelscomnined.com.au, and Tripadvisor. Sometimes one may have special rates over the others that you can also apply coupons to as well.

  • just got me 2 nights at the crown metropol on grand prix weekend for $300 a night. official crown website was quoting $575 a night at last check, so I'm happy!

Why does their codes never work for hong kong???

    • +1

      Never for Bangkok either :o(

  • Great deal!! Just booked a few nights in Auckland and saved nearly 100 bucks! Totally thrilled.. :)

  • Just booked Hollywood for later this year, saved a touch over $300. Thanks OP

    • No probs.

25% off is not that great tbh..

good deal, but couldn't find any discount for the hotels I was booking. This site seems to have very few options available

  • What would be best currency to book with as i have bankwest card and get good rate on international transactions ?

    • It's all in USD regardless. Unless you find some onsite conversion.

  • This deal / coupon is not expired- still seems to work!
    http://www.cheaptickets.com/travel-deals/exclusive-hotel-dea…

Managed to squeeze out a 10% discount on a booking compared to other booking sites and their coupons.
So while the 25% sounds awesome, add taxes and foreign conversion it looks more like 5-15% dicount.
I had booked 2 more stays a few days earlier - so my savings are in the range of 200$ overall with this coupon!

Also CheapTickets reviews on the web are pathetic! I was really nervous, but find that most negative reviews are around air fares, refunds, schedule changes, etc.
