  • Hi Rep
Are there any discounts for existing Telstra homephone customers who already have Foxtel but are looking to add broadband?
    Cheers

    • You would have to "cancel" the homephone and buy a new bundle. If you already have Foxtel, just don't select the Foxtel options in the new bundle. Hope this makes sense? You can live chat with us 24x7 to get more details. Just google Telstra live chat.

You can live chat with us 24x7

Whatever happened to actually talking to people on a bloody phone, which is/used to be your bread and butter??

No deal here by the way.

        • you can call us 24x7 on 132200, but given you're already on a screen chat may be more convenient

      • I've just tried this rep and "Live Chat" says I can't cancel my current Telstra service and apply for the new deal you've posted. They say it's only for new customers…..So who is right?

    • I love that the 'rep' is Gerd Schenkel, Executive Director, Telstra Digital…. good to see you using alternative channels to promote your products.

Sorry Gerd, going to neg the deal. Nothing beats this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/59796

Any chance you guys can run an exclusive for Ozbargains and do it again?

      • Ahem, that deal is over 2 years old :)
We did exclusives in the past, so maybe another handset deal in near future.

      • fyi he's also in the penalty box as the former head of ubank :)

I had no idea :) we had pretty good offers at UBank I'd have thought.

Where's the bargain here? This is the standard discounts you advertise every day, isn't it? The blokes who walk around the street trying to sell your stuff can offer a better price…

    • this offer was just launched yesterday. the total discount mentioned above is only available if you order online.

      • And it was your last broadband 'bargain'

        Everything else fails in comparison.

  • +2

Even with the discount its still $15-25 more expensive than many other providers.

    • +2

That's being conservative. These new bundle prices are a joke, even with the discount. I'm currently with Telstra and lucky enough to be on an older bundle that just suits me. Pay ~$90 a month and get 200GB of data and a homeline (that I don't want), would love 500GB but not jumping an extra $50 a month. The bundle isn't great value but it includes $10 off each of my mobile handsets/mobile broadband contracts a month and family calls to all the phones. If it wasn't for that I would switch to another provider but unfortunately being in a regional area means the offnet prices aren't very competitive and I need to keep my phones on Telstra.

I agree with crazycs, can't see how this is a deal $78 was much better and in line with most other premium ISPs

  • +1

My Telstra bundle has significantly increased in price. I pay $88/month for 200GB and home line basic.

The most comparable is the M bundle which is $105/month ($85/month after discount) for 100GB.

100GB for $3 extra? I think I'll stick with my current plan

    • Yeah it's ridiculous that the plans are going up in price but data amounts are shrinking. Meanwhile the costs for them for data are decreasing.

    • You can get something similar for around $93 they just don't advertise it… still 20 bucks more then most ISPs for something similar and you get stung with huge call charges

  • Hi Rep, are you going to have Telstra Family and Friend Offer again this year? Cheers

    • +1

Hi, don't know yet. The year is still young :)

  • Great to see Gerd here - props!

But have to agree, my Telstra bundle has 200GB + Homeline (no calls included) for $80. Unsure how prices are going up?

  • Am I understanding the deal correctly?

The L 200GB Communications deal listed as $135 per month would be $115 per month over 24 months??

Or is $135 already the discounted price?

    • $115 per month.

  • Massively overpriced (as usual) compared to everyone else.

Very satisfying to see Telstra trying to promote something with an audience smart enough to see that their prices are complete crap.

PS you should totally go back to cold calling old people like my elderly aunt who was told she's a Telstra 'VIP' and then suckered into the worst 24 month plan I've literally ever seen.

  • Come on Gerd… give us an exclusive OzBargains deal!

We do consider it a premium product. So if you're after the lowest ticket price to be connected to the internet at any speed, you might get lower elsewhere.

But for many locations you may get higher speed with Telstra. This is especially true with our cable internet.

Just check online what's available for your address. I'm on Telstra cable and get 80-100MBit per sec.

      • I'm after value for money. Obviously this deal doesn't fit in with the target audience for this site.

  • Any chance of bringing the $80 bundle back?

  • Hi Rep,

You said existing custom can land on this deal by cancelling the current contract and sign up a new 24 months one. I tried the online chat. But I was told even though I am willing to pay the disconnection fee (50 bulks, as I am in the last month of the existing plan) to sign up a new 24 months bundle, I can't have the M communication bundle discounted. Whether this deal is applicable to existing custom or not? On the website, for the communication bundle, it doesn't say it is not applicable to existing customs. I am just so confused with telstra.
