Or as I like to call it: "alcoholic Ribena".

    • Is that a good thing or bad thing?

      • +3

More vitamin c than ribena…not that thatsays much.

      • The new Ribena formula is rubbish….. Haven't tried these though

How can it have a best before date? Doesn't the alcohol preserve it? First I've heard of such a thing… wine has grapes in it but they never go off because of the alcohol.

    • +2

Well, yes, alcohol is a preservative, but it can't perform miracles. These are only 4-5% usually, so the effect it would have on extending shelf life is minimal.

Ninja edit … Wine is a very different beast. Most of these 'ciders' are so far removed from a traditional cider, more of a mixer than anything.

    • Preserve the product but not the flavour or quality.

Fine line between wine and vinegar….or cheeses and mould

I think it has more to do with the carbonation… no? Just like fizzy drinks go flat over time, I thought the same could happen to carbonated RTDs. I used to work at Dan Murphys during uni and we'd get first dibs on any stock needing to be sold in the bargain bin (as they were nearing their used by date)… learned the hard way that the stuff went flat and thus tasted horrible. Totally ruined Canadian Club & Dry for me forever. ugh

Used to really like these, then I got back on the Passion Pop as it's almost twice as strong, 750ml and less than $4 a bottle.

I'm a rich and classy man, as you can tell.

    Good price for these though.

    • Depends if you drink toget drunk or drinkto enjoy.

  • $20 postage to WA metro.

    • Which makes it closer to $60 or $4 per bottle which is only $1 less than getting it from your local Aldi…for something that is best before Feb 10, 2014….

      • It's $9.99 postage to Sydney and Melbourne. WA, QLD etc is a bit more unfortunately.

  • I guess this would be a good deal for people who bought the "Club Catch - One Year of Unlimited Shipping from COTD for $79" from this deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/126816

Or doesn't it work with that deal?

    • nope..it doesn't

  • $10 shipping to Sydney - Are they worth it at $50?

  • +2

I wish they would make a mix case, I like most of the flavours but don't want to drink 15 the same.

  • They are desperate to get rid of it, last week they were flogging it "on special" for $69.
