the code "ZERO" also works (or at least it did, when i signed up)

Good deal. I've used SMS Global before (using free credits on signup) and have and little to no problems with their service. They offer some nice features as part of their service such as concatenated SMS, MMS, allowing you to change your sender ID (which can be a useful feature for business users), and their overall reliability is pretty good in my experience.

Same here, I signed up with them during their last promo. Thumbs up! And to answer 1968, nope, no spam in the SMSes.

  • Thanks. Quick and easy!

  • Do SMSs you send have spam in them?

  • yeah better than cove!

  • I tried sending a message to myself to test. It said it worked on the website, but i didnt receive it.. also my credit didnt go down.. is this normal?

    • just tested mine. worked perfectly. received message in about 10-15 seconds.

Your credit should go down. Another way to check is click on the link "Outgoing SMS Report" & it will tell you the status of your messages.

These guys are great, been using them one on & off for about 2 years… still have some 600 odd txts remaining from that last half price deal they ran - they goofed up and gave me 4 times the credit for the same price :) Best online SMS service I've used.

  • thanks :)

  • Thank you!

smsglobal also had the hottest booth babes in CeBIT :)

That defines a well run business in my eye :D

  • thanks!

Guys you get another 25 bonus credits if you sign up now, I signed up and got 225 sms credits!
Tested to my phone worked fine. However it didn't work when I put +61 infront.

    • Same here, got 225 sms credits!

  • the never sent the password to my phone!?

    • Check to make sure you entered your mobile number correctly. It has to be in the format 61nnnnnnnnn, where nnnnnnnnn is your mobile number without the leading zero. No plus sign either.

  • Just signed up and tried sending a test SMS to myself. Works exactly as described, and was pretty fast too. I like the Email to SMS gateway feature (so you can send a quick SMS without having to log in to your account), and the fact that there is an API facility to integrate the service into another app.

Oh, and as someone else mentioned, you get the free 200 SMS credit with the promo code, PLUS another 25 free SMS texts for just signing up. So you get 225 in total. Maybe the subject line or description could be edited to reflect this?

  • woohoo..thank you. can sms international as well. very good. Thanks

  • Do these credits expire after a certain time? Anyone know?

    • +1

Nope, no expiry. I've had credit sitting there in some form for >24 months. I usually forget about it for months at a time and only use it when I'm over my cap or have some long essay sms to send and don't feel like using my phone.

      • At the bottom of the "Buy Credit" page
"Credits are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase (with option to extend)."

  • Excellent stuff - I still have my round of Free SMS's from the last time they offered it. No expiry date / time, and the web API integration is particularly good.

  • so what happens if my phone is using optus right now
can i still sign up and get 225 free SMSs? if so will the next sms i send be free or counted onto my optus thingo?
anddd once i use up the 225 free SMSs does SMS global automatically go away or keep charging me for each sms i send after that?

    • These SMS credits are credits to use with SMSGlobal. They do not touch your Optus credits at all. The phone number I think is just to prevent multiple signups.

  • 1st sms i sent to meself dint arrive. try again later, and it work! will try sending sms overseas later. great post!

If i have an existing account can I use the promo code?

    Thanks

  • Orbiiter: And also to tell the receiver they come from YOUR phone number ;)

    • Probably shouldn't say too much - but this service allows you to define the phone number or name. Useful in the sense I could send an SMS from "OzBargain".

      • You need to send an SMS to to that number then enter the code received, first, right?

edit: I realise what you mean. You can send from any number! That's cool. Lots of my friend got messages from God this afternoon.

  • Thanks. I'd been looking at this site recently so glad I waited to sign up :)

  • Email said only 25 credits but website said 225 so its ok

  • Thanks. Free SMS promo by COVE was good but SMS Global is better as it has more features.

I've been using this service for over a year.

If you have access to someone else's phone for a moment, you can quickly create an account with their phone number and then use it to mess around with their heads later, as the message will come from their number. I only recommend this for FUN purposes, not anything evil lol

Oh yeah super cool to send sms to a cute guy, but said its from a different chick! Notti!

  • Great deal, hot chicks at booth and sales reps (at cebit) knew their business. Brilliant!

Can confirm no expiry on credits, spoke to rep about this.

What's my international number? I live in Victoria, AUS and my number is 0412493608.

    Also what is Affilate ID?

  • +2

@acinod - you might want to edit out your actual mobile number from your post.

Australian mobile numbers expressed in international format always have the leading '0' removed and a '+61' added in its place. ie 0400000000 would become +61400000000 and so on.
