  • I'm 99% sure these things are illegal? Not quite the bargain if you get caught?

    • -2

No one is forcing you to use one, you make the choice for yourself.

Is this illegal? I want one

  • -1

Every state has different laws and yes I would recommend staying within the lines of the law… in WA they are completely legal, I use a radar detector in my own car.

Its up to the individual at the end of the way if they wish to use one or not, we simply provide the option.

They are illegal in most states. Traffic Police have Radar detector detectors. If caught with one it will be confiscated and you will go to Court.
Or then again don't speed and save yourselves at least $900.
Could say more but why bother.

Last time I checked, it's not illegal to sell them, it's not illegal to buy them, but it is illegal to use one. Go figure.

Don't we have to check which technology our state uses though? And be careful because I think in QLD they used to use laser and now use LIDAR. And they have Laser Jammer detection too.

Feel free to flame me for any wrong info lol

…. or just DON'T SPEED and do EVERYONE a favour.

Seems very expensive to me for a device that does something I can do for free myself.

So why the positive vote? :)

Actually it always amazes me the people who get shitty at the cops for catching them speeding. Not to mention complaining that it is just revenue raising. Maybe if they didn't speed then they would find their solution.

And if you do get caught then just be thankful its a fine and not you being injured or killed, or worse still, injuring or killing an innocent person/s.

You sped, you got caught, you got a fine. Deal with it.

Radar detectors are only legal to sell, own and operate in Western Australia. Also, laser jammers are apparently illegal in all states.

also read news article on people caught:

Encouraging to use one of this to avoid fine when speeding - NOT A BARGAIN, specially when you know you could lose your LIFE and more importantly someone else life as well!

NOTE: This is a personal opinion and not a legal advice!

Modyourcar, you ought to change the post to reflect the legality of this device.

  • Sorry, but a big -VE from me for all the above reasons.

"Yes, it may be illegal, but just because we want to sell you one doesn't mean you have to use it"…

Come on, get real now Mody!

I do not encourage anyone to speed…. not at all! That's not the purpose of the device at all…. I use one, it does not mean I speed on purpose because I know I can get away with it. In fact I find it to be quite the opposite…. its right in front of me and it reminds me not to speed… I actually speed less with it in the car…. sounds strange but its true.

its right in front of me and it reminds me not to speed

I can get that fixed with a sticky notes — no need to spend almost $900 on it :)

@modyourcar — from your previous two offers, you should have realised that this kind of device is not going to be popular amongst OzBargainists. Give us something else :P

Actually you'd be surprised…. people who are interested DONT POST its only those that are NOT. lol
