Remove all the other RRP deals then

    • +2

      Yeah, nah.

    • +7

I don't think that's a rule in the Ozbargain bible.

no one is stopping you, except the mods

sweet ill post anything i think is cheap

literally the entire idea of this site :)

          • @SBOB: be careful he's a hero…

          • +1

@SBOB: Was going to post the same 😂

        • You should start a website. Churn and Burn

    • +4

I'm all for up voting Chinese car deals, but adding a new lower priced, reduced feature model didn't get my vote this time

  • Looking good

    • -4

First day present with love from CCP!

      • -3

        America is even worse now.
All the CCP needs to do to earn my support is to not discriminate or “re-educate”, and I’ll forever sing the praises of the People’s Republic of China over the ex-British empire of the USA.

      • correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the correct abbreviation CPC? why is every one calling it CCP? because it some how relates to CCCP?

        • Chinese Communist Party = CCP
Central Committee of a Communist party = CCCP

We are not talking about Lada here…

  • +8

i love how the colors are white, two greys and a black

i mean come on… i think the upper spec has the option of a pale powder blue

i'm also amazed that you can order the thing and yet you dont know what has been 'decontented' to save that three grand

the next one up is $48.5

    this base is $45.5

    • The Dynamic $48.5 is MY24 and is being replaced by this one.

    • They got rid of the blue in all specs

    • +21

Yep - they really gutted the Essential:

2025 BYD Sealion 6 Essential equipment deletions vs Dynamic

15.6-inch touchscreen (12.8-inch screen fitted instead)
10-speaker Infinity stereo (six-speaker audio fitted instead)
      Eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat (six-way adjustment instead)
Genuine leather steering wheel (synthetic leather-look trim instead)
Genuine leather seat upholstery (synthetic leather-look trim instead)
Driver's seat position memory and power lumbar adjustment
      Heated and ventilated front seats
      Wireless phone charger
      360-degree camera
      Front parking sensors
      Auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
      Heated steering wheel
      Front door acoustic glass
      Metal door sill plates
      Multi-colour ambient lighting
PM2.5 cabin filter and negative ion purifier

      • +17

Seems worse value than the replaced model then, losing so many nice features to save a mere 3 grands…

        • +7

Sales strategy - dumb down the low-end model to make the higher end model (higher margin model) more attractive… the Dynamic and Premium are very close - AWD, higher performance, HUD and interior colour choice were different - so if you didn't want these features, Dynamic is pretty good value…

          • @tpopi: This is replacing the Dynamic…

            • +3

@the-fuzz: Yes, I'm aware of that… what I'm highlighting is the Dynamic is really good value vs this new Essential model and given Dynamic is still orderable, if you want one, order it now!

              • @tpopi: I've had an Atto 3 almost 2 years now, next time I go to buy a car if BYD lock the cameras/sensors and seats behind a $10k upgrade I'm going to someone else. Absolutely daft move.

Granted, the ambient lighting they can keep. That was interesting for all of 20 seconds.

      • +2

Is the second half of your list, what is still meant to be in the vehicle or has been removed? Im a little lost. No 2024 variant of the SL6 im Australia has seat memory.

        • +2

Yeah - there were some errors in that list (copied from China model?) - can't edit my post but no seat memory or lumbar, no Leather Steering wheel or seats and no heated steering wheel in Aus models , so ignore those lines

      • Found your twin https://whrl.pl/RgMMm1

      • Thanks for sharing, makes it a clear no deal to lose all that fruit for a few grand.

      • How can this be a bargain? $3k less for probably $10k+ worth of features removed????

  • +4

Will need to be quick if you want the FBT exemption on PHEV novated leasing.

    • When’s the cutoff dates?

      • 31 March I think?

        And that's delivery date.

        • Wasn’t the delivery date modified to order date? I mean how many cars have a waiting list a mile long?

  • Dumb question: How do they get that 1.1L/100km consumption figure?

    • +29

Charge the car at the top of a mountain and let it roll down for the test

    • +4

80km from battery - then 20km on petrol.

But the calculation is the 20km worth of fuel divided by 100km.

    • +1

It’s electric first engine iirc and given that most commuters travel 40ish kms you’ll barely hit before a charge

    • I've done 7000kms and mine is 2.2/100, but Ive used the petrol more than I needed to

      • +1

can you make it so it only uses battery in any terrain and not use any petrol or will the petrol engine kick in if the terrain is difficult regardless of state of charge?

        • +1

yes, you can do EV only.

          • @MangoUbe: so on a steep hill the petrol engine won't kick in like other PHEVs do?

            • +1

@Poor Ass: nope, if its on EV mode its on EV mode. Plenty of power.

              • @MangoUbe: Alright because I've driven other phev and the petrol kicks in

      • that's super impressive… my car does about 10-11L/100km, over that distance it's a difference of about $1162

  • +11

Pretty good price considering the interior actually gives you a speedo and stalks.

    • Hmmm! Must be the vaulty reverse camera that cuts out there mate

    • +15

She had a stroke not a byd

    • +3

She should get her eyes tested.

    • +4

Most appropriate reason for a neg vote I have seen in a while.

    • She's obviously hidden a tracker on him.

    Tesla RRP booo
    BYD RRP yay?

    • +1

      Oh! What a feeling!

  • +11

The removal of the 360 camera and front sensors kills it for me.

I didn't bother about it before having it, but now it's a time saver especially when parallel parking.

    • I know right. So handy, and reduces parking time considerably.

Be interesting to see how these cheap EVs hold up for resale/landfill in years to come.

    • +5

Why in years to come? Battery hybrids and battery tech has been used for decades now

      https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/?q=(Or.FuelType.Electric..FuelType.Hybrid..FuelType.Plug+in+Hybrid.)&sb=~Year

There's some from 20 years ago that aren't in "landfill"

      • +3

        100% this

Lets just ignore the tens of thousands of Prius Taxis that have reached 400,000k's and are probably still going strong.

But sure, it's not like the chinese to copy whats already out there and innovate on it…

        Surely they'd never do that.

        • You are partially correct with the intellectual property theft. The innovate is more like imitate.

    • +1

gen 1 EVs before solid state batteries replace all this early adopter trash

    • +2

Probably better than ICE cars now with tiny turbo engines with CVTs or DSGs. One failure in engine or transmission out of warranty and the car is a write off.

NGL but i feel Australia has more power with 5 nuclear capable subs that could sit off a country and effectively create the cold war 2.0 rather than diesel subs that can barely get outside our waters before needing to refuel.

      • -1

I agree that nuclear subs are likely to be more effective if used in a distant cold war 2.0 …. but of little use defending australia.

Are you suggesting that australia's current collins class diesel subs with a fuel range of about 17,000 km at periscope depth can barely get outside australian waters?
Sorry, but it's hard to take your comment seriously.

    • You think too much. When that happens, a few nukes going off is a bigger issue.

      • So trade and cyber warfare will never occur before the world's MAD finale?

To be honest, I'm not really concerned about imminent extinction from a nuke… australia is too big, and also I don't live in one of the few key military targets.

    • They would be better off using the data connection, 8 or so cameras, and remote AI \ facial recognition, along with GPS tracking to produce an extensive and passive intelligence network.

    • +2

Did you consider a similar comment on the half price Zooper Dooper post? Zooper doopers are made here, but the plastic will be imported.

Can we guarantee supply of Chinese plastic for our Zooper doopers during times of conflict?

      • If a country stops exporting product here, it may or may not be an inconvenience or worse….. but if I can't buy a product that's not available, I still have my money.
It's a bit different if one makes a purchase costing significant bucks, that then becomes unusable.

    • +2

You must be in your 60s

      • -1

        Great response thanks!
Is that because I have some idea of the range of nuclear subs, or don't want to throw away money on something that could become a useless brick instantly……or because my thought processes consider possibilities more complex than whether the 0-100 KPH is sub 7 seconds?
I am genuinely interested about the basis of your deduction.
If it was arrived at by research of my posts I applaud your work…. if it was plucked out as an attempted insult it wasn't effective.

war with some sophisticated country or group of countries (eg US, or russia, or the EU, or china)

If there is an actual large scale war including any of those named entities, we in Australia will be absolutely rooted for many many reasons.
Your car being disabled will be the very least of your problems - as soon as the shipping channels close, we'll very quickly run out of medicine, petrol, diesel, and all the other things we need to import to function.

      • -1

Well… petrol and diesel, I can see that potentially being a problem, but not for me if I have an EV powered by my rooftop solar… particularly if my solar is standalone rather than grid connected.

If you live in a major city, with enough food in your residence for 1 day, and no access to water… that's a problem. Not so much for me, but I'd suggest that government would rapidly solve those dilemmas, just like WW2 europe. Medicine? It's critical to a very small fraction of the population, but I'd suggest the affect on the country as a whole would be insignificant.

Honestly, I don't believe that australia would be absolutely rooted at all.

    • +2

I've had my sneaky eye on the EU as well. Baguettes to the ready gentlemen!

      • Remember the battle of the french fries! The US was very smart to convert so quickly to freedom fries!

    • What makes you think China will use commercial products as weapons of mass destruction like the West has done against Lebanon? If say the US lead coalition started a nuclear war or target the Three Gorges Dam creating mass atrocity, then the reply from China will be Nuclear rather than disabling useless civilian EVs.

      • I'm puzzled trying to work out the lebanon reference… are you talking about the fertiliser storage warehouse explosion or something else?

I agree if the US used nuclear weapons against china, china would reciprocate… but that wouldn't be their only strategy.

The history of WW2 and many other wars demonstrate the range of measures belligerents will use against their opponents, attacking military, economic, and morale targets. Cyber warfare hasn't publicly been seen to a significant degree historically, but it is certainly seen as a vulnerability now.

    • +1

As a civilian you are far less important than you think you are during a war. What's the benefit to China to disable your vehicle?

      • The US vietnam war stopped because of US civilian opposition…..from citizens objecting on moral grounds. (To a lesser degree the soviet adventure in afghanistan)

I suspect the outrage of australian civilians on financial grounds would far exceed protesters motivated by moral grounds.

International conflict is a very multidimensional thing in modern times, highlighted by the russian/ ukraine conflict.
War where destruction is the sole goal and civilians are of no importance like gaza are now very rare.

        • Are you implying China's motivation to disable civilian's cars is to hope they can get on the street to urge Australian government to surrender ASAP so they can drive their car?

…………………………………mate I really don't have comment on this. You are a genius.

  • Is there a sea lion 6 that is BEV only?

    • +4

That's called a Sealion 7. Will exist in Australian showrooms in late Feb/March apparently

    • Its sealion 7
Coming soon as per the website

  • +2

Nice looking car, from the distance the front resembles lamborghini Urus and the back is like a BMW X6… 2 cars in one… Great

  • I really hope it provides 7 seats version like Outlander PHEV does.

    • they have models in china with 7 seaters, they will release it australia in the future

  • +1

Waiting for the MPV from BYD. Believe BYD will change the market
