    Great price with HDDs.

    • +1

Yes, it comes with drives, even though the listing isn't quiet clear on it. I bought one last week and it came installed with 2 x 2TB drives installed.

      • Quite

  • +1

Bought one the other day! Really good!
Only this, this is the "CloudStation" edition, Not the Pro Duo, there is a difference in the software that comes with the device. So just be aware when looking up reviews as most review the Pro Duo model.
NB, the hardware is the SAME only the software is different.

    • +2

      Updated title

    • anything bad with this software?

and can you flash it with a different OS?

    • The hardware is the same.

The cloudstation label differentiated as a newer version of the firmware.

  • +1

    Unbelievably good value. WOW.
A review of the 2tb variant here
    http://www.cnet.com.au/buffalo-cloudstation-pro-duo-2tb-3393…

If its the same setup, its not a bad unit.

    • +1

Yes, Same unit, except 2 x 2TB drives giving you 4TB of space :D

  • Where does it say the harddrives are included?

    • +3

      Specifications
      Storage Capacity: 4TB
      Number of Hard Drives: 2
Now bend over, here comes the toilet paper

      • +1

I'm willing to bet its referring to potential storage, not actual….

        • +1

You can have either 4TB of space (Formatted gives 3.6TB usable) or Mirrored (One drive acts as a backup of the other) with 1.8TB usable.

      • -2

Eh pretty sure that is just describing the specifications of the unit. I.e. it can take up to 4TB and can hold 2 hard drives

        Package Contents

        1 x Buffalo CloudStation Pro Duo - 4.0TB
        1 x Ethernet cable
        1 x AC adapter
        1 x AC cord

        • It has 2 x 2TB drives installed, I bought one last week.

        • Awesome - thanks for confirming

  • +1

Anybody know if you can upgrade the hard drives inside?

    • I too would like to know

Also hows does this Brand compare to WD and Seagate?

      • +1

My device came with WD drives in it. Some people on forums have reported it comes with Seagate, think it depends on what Buffalo can get cheap at the time.

    • +1

Yes you can, See the following links, It should take 2 x 4TB drives, though I haven't tested myself, They sell a model with 2 x 3TB drives already install on oo.com.au though price isn't as good.

The Model here (CS-WVxx) is the same hardware as the LS-WVL.

  • I jumped the gun a little too quick on this and didn't realise it was the Cloudstation version.

Hopefully I am not too disappointed!

    • do you know the difference apart from the software?

i just watched a video, you can download software onto your computer that makes it like an external network harddrive.

      • +1

So the ONLY difference between the "Pro Duo" and the "Cloudstation" is the web interface on the device itself.
The Cloustation is integrated with the Pogo service to access your files anywhere, while the Pro Duo has a few more "business features" like AD security.
BOTH can be accessed via a web browser to set it up, and both can be accessed as a network drive "\192.168.1.x\share".

    • I'm new to this device..what features you don't get with Cloudstation version ?

      • +2

I believe the Cloudstation does not include the NovaStor backup software, or the ability to use AD integration. But it does have the Pogo integration that the Linkstation Pro Duo lacks.

  • +1

I thought it was a NAS drive until I read through it all, silly me

Is Buffalo a decent brand tho?

    • I have had a few Buffalo devices, support has been good and the prices are ok. Never had any real problems and Buffalo have quite a large "hacker" community with forums and wiki's run by users.

    • I guess it is NAS from the description…

  • +1

13 left in stock. Was 20+ about 5 mins ago. Try to add 20 and it will say how many are left. Good deal, cheers op

  • +1

There is also a 2TB version for $60 less if that meets your needs.

  • I have the Buffalo Quads and they have lasted for nearly 2 years.

Recommended for great and reliable storage.

Simple in design without the extras.

  • Are one of these good just for media streaming? Good value?

    • guess for that u can go with a good modem/router and an external drive. Both should cost you much less. With this one you still need a good modem for wireless streaming.
      Experts might correct me…

      • +3

This is actually wrong on every count:
        - a good modem/router and a 4 GB drive will cost you much more. In fact, a good router alone will cost you more.
        - the above configuration won't give you 'mirror' functionality of NAS
        - You don't need a modem for streaming your media, it's the router you need.

    • For 4TB, it's great value.
It's got an ethernet port, so I don't see why would couldn't hook it up to a good Wifi Router that has DLNA.

I plug a portable hard-drive into my modem via USB and stream via that, but now all TV's come with a USB port anyway which is much more reliable.

    Order placed =D

    sold out

  • None left!
    "exceeded the available quantity."

    • I just ordered one, site shows "nearly sold out"

  • +1

Exceptional pricing. I bought the one that shopping square had for $269 + delivery last week, not a bad unit (for the money).

    • Any thoughts on the experience? I've never used a PogoPlug device before.

  • Sold out, but they have 3 left on their eBay store if you hurry.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Buffalo-CloudStation-Pro-Duo-Pers…

    edit: Gone. Guess they didn't…

  • -1

another discontinued product on the market finds its way on ozbargain.

  • damn missed out… no longer on their ebay store either
    =(

    • Well, you can still get the pro duo base without HDD from HT for $98.

      They are the same.

  • OZbargained!

  • what is this?

  • This seems to be a storage device not a real NAS?? Is that right?

  • +3

"Boasting a staggering 4 terabytes of storage space, you'll never run out of space on your computer again"
sigh… if only that were true.

  • Sigh… out of stock.

  • Dammit this sounds better than the 3tb live book I got the other day for 190 delivered

    • Well, I've got both of them. The 3tb live is a bit faster than this. Dont have to regret. The only positive side for this is the HDD is replaceable.

      ;-)

  • Nooooo missed out :(

  • +2

The reason its so cheap is because pogoplug (the service you must use in order to use this device) nerfed itself in the 5.2.4 version and removed quite a few features.
    http://support.pogoplug.com/entries/21740690-Version-5-2-4-r…

  • You can buy it without drives…

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/124144

Sure not as cheap, but if you ALREADY own the drives this could be good for some. I bought two and works nicely. First thing I did is switch RAID0 to RAID1. As I don't want 4tb unprotected storage when I have put in 2 x 2TB drives.

  • Can you use these as a Desktop Computer?

    • No this is a NAS. Different from mini PC

  • recieved mine today, having a play with it right at this moment. so far so good, will report back.

    • Mine arrived yesterday too. I haven't had a chance to set it up yet but it is much smaller than I expected.

    • Mine arrived today. The interface keeps offering an update, but when I agree to it, it starts downloading (I think) and then the whole box just seems to fall asleep and turn. For hours. Not sure whether I should try and restart it or not?

    • Got DLNA to work!

      • citybargainhunter on 05/12/2013 - 11:25
        Got DLNA to work!

May I ask how? It seems I'm not that lucky yet. Do you mind sharing your set up?

        Thanks.

        • It's turned off by default, you need to change it in Media Settings.

  • Anyone with buyers Remorse :-)
    let me know…
