I took the Gold Coast challenge and eight 5 over lunch then came back for dinner as that offer went to 8pm.
These are so amazingly full of flavour..

If you are near this store opening do it, you will have no regrets…

Remember you can ask for a free shot of guacamole in it and I recommend the chicken over the beef..

Now eat till you drop but be warned you will get the cravings and be going back for more over the following week

    • If you ate 5 for lunch, they must be bloody small. At $10.50 a pop at my local, there is a ton of alternatives that are more substantial meal size wise at that price.

    • are they "salsa" size? or "mad mex" size? pretty big difference

      • Haven't had Salsa, but size wise MadMex and Gomez are identical. Quality wise, Gomez wins handsdown.

        • Nothing close to identical. Gomez is cheesier and probably less healthy than MadMex. MadMex has a better variety of salsas, although at GyG you get to help yourself to the hot sauce and the jalapenos. The steak at MadMex is the nicest filling of all of them.
I prefer MadMex, but GyG is probably just as good, but a different taste.

Having said that, both are better than Salsa's by the length of the Flemington staight. Salsa's is like a clueless Aussie's take on Mexican food. Just throw a bunch of shit into a flour tortilla and call it Mexican.

MadMex size. But the quality is on par with MadMex, as opposed to the rubbish from Salsa's.

  • The hours are getting shorter and shorter…

Nah, this is just one of those CBD food courts which is only open weekday lunches for the office workers.

I'm not sure if I trust a "Burrito" deal posted by someone called "Squirta".

    Montezuma's revenge?

  • Cool - opening just near work… But I suspect it'll be cheaper and easier (if not in the spirit of OzB) to pay later on….

  • They are not small just like Mexican.. And free makes me even more hungry…
You can fill bowls with sauces and have to say I like that black sauce..
    Happy eating

  • went there at 11am. wait time eta 30-50 mins. left

    • Line moved super quickly.

      • that depends at which point in time you started waiting. But good for you tho :)

        • That's not very Ozbargain of you to consider things like waiting in line, when there's something free. :P

        • I wish I was a student :P

You just need a job that allows you to take your break when you want. :)

Munching on my free burrito now. Line looks scary long, but only took 20 mins.

  • Yep. Wait time very efficient, only 20 mins, with free freshly made corn chips and home made guacamole along the way. Great burrito, and free! :)

  • haha, Ill try next week… 20mins for a burrito… Some people have alot of time.

  • 18 mins.. & the line is now in flinders lane…outside the foodcurt

    • crazy, lucky i left lol

The line was in Flinders Lane when I went there, which only took 20 mins.

Despite a line from outside of the building to the food court, it only took 10 minutes from lining up to receiving burrito. This was at 145pm.

    • Drats! That's about when I was there and it looked TOO long, so I left! I know…not very OzB of me :)

  • Darn, been watching that for ages, take a day sick from work, and miss out ! Ah well, glad it's open finally… How were said free burritos ?

Good. Consistent with the previous ones I've had. Given they served around 3,000 in 4 hours, pretty good effort. They had a huge amount of staff not only cooking but also managing the line.

      • And the guacamole was sensational. They've convinced me to pay extra for it next time. :)
