  just as a comparison, i spend 1.2k for 1 month in Vietnam, sharing with one other (hotel accomodation etc) so it'll put into perspective how expensive this trip actually is, IMHO. I was travelling on a budget though so stayed in hotels that were AU$20-25/night, but towards the end spent a week in places that were $40-50/night as i still had too much cash :P

    you can't compare your budget travels with a pre-packaged tour… this deal has a welcome drink, yours doesn't.

      i took a tour for 5 days and 4 nights to phu quoc island, departing Saigon. high speed boat to the island and twin prop back and that only cost me $150 including food, accommodation and plane ticket.

      these packaged tours just pay the smaller tour operators money anyway so they're just taking a cut off the top, you're better off building your own tour by going to a travel agent somewhere local where there's lots of them so prices are lower from the competition

    SO much better doing it on your own, these tours are a huge ripoff. Just airport transfers end up being hell expensive, when you can catch a taxi into town for a few dollars.

    Hey, but some people prefer tours.
