    Um, no thanks.

I would have though that is the standard amount, Qantas has a 30KG limit in line with Emirites. I would have thought SIA to be much the same.

    • Pretty sure Singapore airlines is 25kilos, was when I flew with them last year. Still if your paranoid about weight, just buy one of those light weight Luggage bags, only weigh like 3kilos and cost $70 at kmart.

    • Yeah it's not unsually high. Thai Airways is unofficially 30 KGs also, says 20 on the website but checkin staff always confirm 30KGs is fine.

  • The prices aren't cheap at all. Actually the flights i looked at that were in the travel period were ridiculously expensive.

The prices aren't bad, since you are flying one of the best airlines in the world. They are around the same price as Qantas, yet leaps and bounds above them in service and product.

Best airline in the world isn't really an exaggeration. It's hard to resist a $250 return ticket on Air Asia/Scoot though.

This. I love travelling around Asia during holidays, and when I was working, was exclusive to SIA and Malaysia Airlines. Now that I'm back at uni, I can't afford $1500 anymore and AirAsia/Scoot offering the same flights at a fraction of the cost means I don't have to limit my travel! =)

  • I was looking for flights to ko samui but couldn't find any for the advertised price

I honestly dont know why people need so much baggage. I rarely carry more than 15.

Some people (eg: OzBargainers) buy things overseas and want to bring them home :p

Remember… you can take 30KG, but it only takes 4.2KG to get you into trouble!

  • SIA has been giving out 30 kgs this year. Ive travelled on SIA twice this year and they gave me 30kg, qantas once this year and it was also 30kg.

  • Malaysian also now provide 30KG - seems to be the standard now

  • I travel with SQ every few months to Singapore and the weight limit was 30kg out of Melbourne and 20 kg when coming back. Strange I know, but thats how it was printed on my tickets. Price is pretty decent for short calls but emirates was doing better rates 2 weeks back, around $750 return.

Couldn't resist chiming in on this one. If you can always pick SIA over Emirates when EK flights go Via Singapore. They're pretty much always on a 77W, which has a 10 abreast layout, compared to SIAs 9 abreast. Meaning they manage to plonk a another person in per row, and it makes a difference.

Sadly the days of a 9 abreast layout is slowly fading, but still nice to have.

  • Malaysia airlines have recently changed all from 20kg to 30kg
