Is Executive Decision the one where he was advertised as a star of the film, but then died 10 minutes in?

    • +12

If only all of his films were that way.

    • +2

      Yes

    • +3

You just ruined it for me bro.

    • +1

Yep. I remember that when I was a kid. Could'nt freakin believe it!

    • I found Executive Decision is probably the best movie in the boxset:)

      • no way!!!! the worst!!!

    • 100% right!

When this first came out, I watched it at movies as a kid thinking he was the star (this was when Seagal was worth watching- like it or not he WAS a popular action hero)…. and then they kill him off 10 minutes in!!!!

I kept thinking- well I didnt see a body, he'll be back somehow… but nup. Left watching Kurt Russell alone!

  • +1

Used to like him but now he is fat and wears a wig.

    • Still squints when he talks though. That's his 'thing'.

      • +2

Well not everyone stays young and healthy for ever like dreamerman.

        • I am not commenting on his age. Getting old is fine like Sean Connery.

        • +5

Was Sean Connery ever young though? I just assumed he was born aged 65.

        • +1

Connery went through an odd progression where he was balding/bald up in movies, up until the late 80s/early 90s. Then in the 90s (e.g. The Rock), they started putting a wig on him for all of this movies. Unforunately, I read the other day he is going through dementia/Alzheimers which is a horrible way for such a great story teller to go.

As for Seagal, he is working in law enforcement in New Orleans. Doing a lot for the community and can still kick most peoples ass.

They just don't make those classic 80's/90s action films anymore which is a shame.

        • I quite liked Seagal's eastern european series as well, more so than his gangster rap movies. At least in the former he was saving the little girl of innocence in all of us.

        • Seagal, or Sensai, as he should be referred to, has recently been a role model and teacher of MMA fighters, most notably Anderson "The Spider" Silva. He takes full credit for the infamous front foot kick that floored Vitor Belfort in UFC 126, which also appeared on the cover of the UFC 3 game. Ariel Helwani revealed in an interview with Sensai that he showed it to Silva backstage, and the rest is history.

Now stop giggling and pay respect!

        • gather you wear the shiny satin jocks Sly http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/114406

        • Wow, everyone is so serious today. The idea that Seagal showed him this kick is fairly farcical. Guess my attempt at sarcasm over the whole incident didn't register too well.

        • I lol'd Sly. There's always going to be someone who's too quick on the neg, don't take it to heart.

        • +1

haha, thanks. My comment was down 2 negs, now it's even, so guess some people are not so serious after all :)

    • +2

      Dreamerman reminds me of Glimmerman.

  • I missed. I never miss! They must have been smaller than I thought.

  • +1

Does it have the one with him and Van Damme?

  • +1

Pity one of his best - 'Marked for Death' is not included :(

  • +3

Best Seagal line is from Hard to Kill.

You can take that to the bank.
I'm gonna take you to the bank, Senator Trent…to the blood bank.

  • .

  • Jason Statham is the replacement for Steven Seagal :)

    • he better get on the burgers then.

  • +1

In all seriousness, for the time his movies weren't too bad. The fight scenes were actually half decent compared to other movies around the same era imo.

    • +1

      exactly!!

Seagal is actually a trained martial artist, so his fight scenes are awesome (like Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee films)…. and not pansy (like Karate Kid 1,2,3,4….)

  • Well, these movies were released at the height of his career. It's popular to hate on him but I can't knock his hustle. He was a hero in the 90s and had Kelly Le Brock too. I recently saw Hard to Kill the other day and it was terrible, so I wont be getting the box set. Statham and Scott Adkins offer more in action but it Seagal was / is good for a laugh. His appearances in Anderson Silva's corner were unintentionally hilarious.

    • Did you see Hard to Kill on tv? They cut the crap out of that movie. It makes no sense.

      Watch the DVD.

      • Mate, I have copies of Seagal's stuff on VHS and DVD because my brother idolized him back in the day. Even gelled his hair back like him. Yeah, I did see all the edits they screened on tele one night and they butchered it even more.

  • Was seagal in toy story too?

  • "You bastards come into our village and kill our fish, pollute our water. I'm gonna send you back to hell where you belong!"

  • One lunchtime in Perth in the late 80s, I was on the corner of Hay and William Sts, waiting for the Walk light to appear. A blue Merc convertible with top down, with a driver who looked just like Seagull (long black hair, pony tail, clothing, etc, etc) was waiting to turn the corner. Also a very attractive Eurasian female passenger.

I was tempted to say something smart, but the lights turned, and he whizzed around the corner, and was gone.

A week or so later I saw my first photo of John Kizon, on the front page of the West.

    Ooops!
