  • Great machine and a good price. I have learn so much from this machine and enjoying the coffee with my partner every morning.

You can't go wrong with this machine as the attention to detail in designing this model is second to none for this price range.

  • Hmmm good discount but I'd still recommend going for the Expobar

    • Show me an expobar for 1.3K that includes a free grinder.

      • What sort of grinder are they going to give away free? Not one you'd want to use given you've just spent that amount on a machine.

  • Check the Coffeesnobs thread - 90 pages! - seems Breville have had some quality and service problems relating to this machine. It's a lot of money to spend on a machine which may last a week. It scores 4.7 from 47 reviews at http://www.productreview.com.au/p/breville-bes900-dual-boile…

  • BTW, I'm curious to know how many people use the steaming wand.
Everyone I know uses one of those frother/heater gadgets, or a fully-auto machine, or just microwaves the milk.
Including a guy who has this model, - not much point in the dual-boiler for those people.

Nice looking machine though, and a good grinder.

    • I always steam my milk. I've never liked those frothers, they don't do a very good job and microwaves don't give you microfoam.

    • I used to microwave, but the missus is a bit of a snob so now I have to always use the Steamer. It's not that much hassle. Could be wrong, but I reckon it would be tough to tell the taste difference (microwaved vs steamed).

    • The ones using frother/heaters, fully auto machines, microwaving milk don't know what a milk coffee should taste like. All either do not produce sufficient microfoam, or burns the milk.

  • I bought one about 2 years ago, haven't had a problem. Highly recommended.

  • Good coffee machine, but still too expensive. I think I will wait until it is sub $1000 (maybe at the end of the year/post Christmas sales).

    • It has never been that low with a grinder, you could be waiting for nothing.

      • +1

Actually it was available for about $1100 from David Jones a couple of months ago, with a free grinder directly from Breville.

  • The grinder is $199 at the moment

The next version of this machine, the BES920 will be out before xmas, so you might want to consider holding on to your dollars for a bit longer.

    • hold on to buy the BES900 at a better clearance rate you mean, for the BES920 will not be introduced so cheap.

  • Have it for about a year now. Great machine. Took some time to master barista skills. Now the whole new world with single origins, blends, roasteries has unfolded.

  • I expect the price on the 900 to drop a fair bit in the coming months as dealers dump stock. The 920 will be out by Xmas, rumors are at the same RRP as the 900.

    • I wonder what 920 will more than 900?

      • It's over 9000!
