  I've got the exact same thing from ebay for a couple dollars. Helpful for keeping the camera steady if you have a ledge to lean on rather than hold the camera free-hand. However, don't expect to use it to hold a camera by itself, it will topple over.

    I've got the same one too and as long as you don't use an SLR or a camera that isn't centred, it's fine. I haven't had a problem.
    The only annoying thing is that the feet are had plastic rather than rubber, so they'll slide off smooth surfaces, such as car bonnets.

    Using a jeweller's scale, I get 33.09g, 34.55g and 35.47g for mine

  they are not worth it, maybe for a very very cheap point and shoot but they are more of a gimmick.

    These things are good for many things, but obviously you wouldn't hang an SLR off them :-)

    They're more stable than the standard (chinese) "octopus" design.

    But I have another style here which has 2 legs at a V shape and that is the best of my box full or cheapies.
