  • Finally found the one for my phone, has a one star review saying it's soft and sticky. Sounds like it'd be hard to slide the fingers across.

I've currently got a 'frosted' protector on my phone which tends to make everything look a bit fuzzy, can anyone comment who has had both the frosted type and clear types as to which is best? Clear supposedly shows up the fingerprints more so I'm at a bit of a loss which way to go.

    Phone is a i9250 Samsung.

I've had both in the past - clear and frosted. Both did exactly what you said, fingerprints and blurry.

Solution: Ditched the screen protectors and bought an otterbox case for my s3 which has slightly raised edges so the phone doesnt sit on the screen. In nearly 12months, not 1 scratch on my screen. Touch wood I havent just jinxed myself.

    • It is soft, thick (compared to eBay stuff) and sticky (initially). But it is much better than the el-cheapo eBay/$2 store stuff.

The skin cures and sets within a day. Most imperfections are absorbed within a few days. The sticky finger syndrome automatically fixes itself with use. People need to have patience.

I have one from XtremeGuard for my Galaxy Note and Transformer TF700T. My brother in law also has one for the new Nexus. I would highly recommend it at 70% off price. But, I would not buy it if I had to pay full price for it.

    • SGP's Ultra Optics range is frosted (matte) but don't give the fuzzy multicolored effect. Works great, but I don't think they have one for the nexus anymore.

    • Stay with the clear i think, despite the fingerprints. Not sure how this performs, but most frosted ones I have seen generally makes the screen look a bit most fuzzier and more difficult to read.

      • I've lifted the protector to see what the screen underneath is like and it's brilliant, so clear. Would love to have it look that nice when using it but don't want to mess it up by not using a protector. Gah.

I've always hated the protector that's on there, want something else but I've never had much luck finding anything for it. Might have to get something larger (note/note2) and cut it down to fit. Problem is finding a nice clear one that I won't hate.

    • I got this for my nexus 4 and this is good for the back side as the phone will stick to the surface of the desk and hence will not fall off quickly.

I will not recommend this for the front part as the screen protector is sticky.

Other two issues I had were application was difficult as the material is too soft and requires wet application. The screen protector goes to the edge and hence will come off or cause bubbles if used with case.

I now have SGP one and it is expensive but great product.

  • I bought one for my lumia 820. Come out to be A$6.20 or something after paying via paypal. Not sure if this screen protector is any good but it is at least affordable.

  • I've used the Invisible Shield full protection which I believe is a similar product on my MacBook and whould never consider it on my iPhone. It was soft and sticky. They provided a patch for the touchpad and I hated it! Took it off straight away. I still have the protection my my case and it's starting to go yellow. But I know if I take it off the protected parts are going to look like new! :)

Back to my iPhone, I've only ever used anti-glare frosted screen protectors (ever since my HP iPAQ days!). I prefer the rough (like tracing paper) feel then gloss glass. My fingers tend to stick to the glass but glides over the frosted screen protectors. And I like the anti-glare properties especially when I'm outside or when the iPhone is used in my car dock.

It's all personal preference though. Get both clear and frosted and see how you like them. I'm sure you can source them cheap on eBay?

  • do we really need to use soap water to install it???

    • yes, it's the wet-install type.

I found the glass water is better :)

  • xtremeguard has too much friction when trying to slide your finger in the screen but as a back protection is good coz its grippy
