    • Basically, forget about it if you are in Perth. Pity, I would have liked this.

How accurate are these forecasting units when used indoors? Won't air conditioners, humidifiers impact their accuracy?

  • Wouldn't you have thought that the blue LED would illuminate the rain, instead of green, seeing as one would most associate water with the colour blue?

    • +1

Yeah I thought that was wierd.

  • Does anyone want to elaborate or speculate on how this thing is able to determine the forecast?

    • +3

I would guess that it works like a barometer and detects pressure changes.
      Very mixed reviews here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B001EGFAAE

As with all Oregon units that have a forecast feature, it uses a basic barometer to measure if the pressure is rising or falling. In this device it does not display the actual value of the barometer, or is it able to be calibrated to your altitude.

  • I figured I'd try the Dick Smith lottery and phone the only store which had "low stock" instead of "no stock" in my area. I managed to get the last one. Thanks OP, I'm very happy with it. It looks great, and actually uses a radio signal to get the time. It's technically not supposed to be able to receive a signal in Australia, but yet the icon shows it is receiving a weak signal. Apparently there are reports of radio clocks being able to receive the Japan signal in Perth and Melbourne. Another cool feature is switching between temperature and time by waving your hand in front of it.
Well worth it for those who can get their hands on it.
