Great for someone who still has a DVD collection. Make sure you have a Full HD screen so you can watch it in 1080p.

      Thats a joke right?

i managed to put one last piece on hold in SA but later on changed my mind so pm me if anyone interested to get this PHILIPS 5.1 Channel DVD Home Theatre HTS3531 in $50. i will pass on the details to you

    • PM me i could be interested

      • sent you the details.

  • no stock around 3000 already …lol

    • +1

this model won't impress much, it's 100 on average everywhere

if you are that tight on budget, go for a used z5500 and at least you get some DTS/DD goodness and bass that will rock your neighbours

      • +9

The last time I rocked my neighbours, the cops rocked up and proceeded to rock my ears with a long lecture followed by a threat to rock my bank balance with a huge ass fine. Rock my life.

        • +10

sounds like you're living in between a rock and a hard place

        • I lolled hard. Thanks ejsteven. :D

  • +1

There's stock in Maitland NSW if anyone's interested. lol

    • Theres always stock in maitland for everything for some reason.

  • I picked up the Pioneer deal & very happy with it. Only complaint is no hdmi pass through but I got around that with a powered splitter into a spare tv input. Well worth that price.

    DSE = Don't Stock enough.

Though they did have stock nearby with the $200 phillips blue-ray home theatre which is currently at half RRP..

    • +16

      Don't stock enough Clearance Items?

      That sounds logical…

      Shakes head

    • why would a company that is likely to go under buy more stock?

  • Stock in Cannington, WA

  • The HTS is 300W @ 30% THD :(
But it does have digital audio in.
Could that be used by a Blu-ray player? Will it accept AC3 and DTS?

    • From the specs on DSE website it has 2 HDMI inputs which could be used for a blu-ray player but yes optical(toslink) input could also be used if your blu-ray player has an optical output.

      • I'm talking about the $50 Philips. No HDMI inputs on that, just toslink and analog stereo.
The toslink is intended for audio from the TV tuner.
So I'm guessing it does DD/AC3, but maybe not DTS??

        • That says nothing about DD on the optical input. It may be only for DVD.
The user manual only mentions mp3 and wma in the specs.

Anyway, not really much point having surround input without DTS.
For $50 it will still make a decent CD/radio/mp3 player for the kitchen :)

        • agreed, DTS is essential for a great movie experience

and yes I do feel it trumps DD on many levels :p

        • I would not mind except most Blurays don't give you a choice.

  • The Yamaha YHT-298 is the pick of the bunch, pity no stock :-(

    • Agree. Looks like there is stock for country Victorians in Shepp and Albury (I know its in NSW…)

  • Can anyone confirm if this is a good price for the Sony System- http://www.graysonline.com/retail/bdve690-r/audio-tv-and-hom…

    • Seems like a good price to me.

    • the pioneer has one of the best amps here

Dolby True HD, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution

not much info on the Sony, would stay away

  • +4

reserved one at the altona store (victoria) but mrs not approving the spending…

anyone want it, PM me - first in, best dressed

    • Hi Mate I'm interested

      • just messaged you

        • Thanks a 50 times :-)

  • I have the sony and $199 phillips available nearby(Darwin).
anyone think one over the other for any good reason? Is the sony worth the extra $50.
Is this that good a deal or should i wait? was thinking of getting something like this later in the year so dont need one right now.

  • Come on ipad 4 and iphone 4-s still waiting baby >:)

  • Website says Brighton VIC has low stock, rang and no stock.

    Got the Philips HTS3531/79.

Confirmed DD/AC3 surround from optical input.
No DTS (machine says "DTS NOT SUPPORT" when I tried.)

Will not replace the Yamaha, but very pleased for $50, will be used mostly for music - can "upconvert" stereo input to all speakers.
FM radio uses just front-panel display, no TV needed. Easy to use.

Region code hack posted by JohnBoy92129, September 01 2012:

Switch on the player & open the tray.
Press 'Info' on remote, this will show the current 'Region
    Code', mine was region 4.
Press 'Info' again on the remote to go back to a blank screen
Press 'Stop' on remote (essential step),
    Press the keys 9 9 9 9 0 in sequence(not too quickly)
'Region 0' appears on television screen.
After few seconds 'Region 0' disappears.
Press 'Info' on remote again, this should show that the
'Region Code' has changed to 0.
    Close the tray & Enjoy!

    • Confirmed this works ;@)
Sorry accidentally hit neg instead of positive ;-/

  • HTS3531/79 (Philips 5.1 ch) and Philips 3D bluray player is still available in Claremont Square, WA.
