Yeah a bit, but someone booking with voucher effectively $9 to access some hopefully decent bargains
Garbage. How is this different to: No joining fee, $39 a year, $30 gift voucher in exchange for us spamming you every week.
No thanks
Agreed, paying money to get more spam!
also paying for access to a minimum 4 $1 flight sales that will be exclusive to Club Jetstar members
not a bargain
Benefit: Exclusive access to at least 4 member only Club Jetstar sale events, including $1 sale fares, each year - WOW!!!
PLUS - Club Jetstar Partner special offers - DOUBLE WOW!!!
Cost: $40/yr after first year (automatically renewed by automatically charging the annual fee to your card) - KAPOWIE :(BONUS: $30 voucher (only 1 for joining - you paid for it in the $39 joining fee)
You can use your voucher from 1 July 2013
You must book (or change) your flight within 6-months of issuejetscam ahem i mean jetstar
I have Qantas Freqent Flyer Card, Do I still need this for points on Jetstar flight?
Nothing to do with FF programs (you pay extra for on Jetstar) - just an opportunity for extra sales!
The '4 members only sales' events may be to limited destination and be for travel periods that may not be convenient. I'm not sure if a 'gamble' is worth it.
anyone with experience on their members only sales? please comment
Their family and friends sales are pretty sweet.
Got mel-syd for $29 each way
Mel-Auckland $199 return
and i booked mel-sing for $199 each wayif the Club sales are anything like that then its pretty sweet
Their Price Beat for Tiger fares are better, although that looks like finishing up 30 June.
Mel->GC $108rtn for 2 ppl (or $28 ow)
anyone is a member? is it worth it?
This seems to be rather un-bargain-like. I wouldn't pay $39 for a Jetstar flight, let alone $39 for the chance to possibly find a slightly discounted Jetstar flight (which is probably only at an inconvenient time to an undesirable location)
Is this membership program some kind of joke?
I thought it must be April 1.
Pay us now to pay us more later! WOW - Smells Tiger!
I hear you get preferential window seating, so you get an uninterrupted view of the tarmac when you're waiting for your delayed flight to take off
Do you get preferential seating wedged between 2 end of season footy trips or do you have to make do with wedged between the bulkhead and 3 drunken FIFO miners on the way home!
and the $1 fare specials which they have are routes like Brisbane to Newcastle at 11pm on a Tuesday night or Melbourne to Launceston at 5am on a Wednesday morning… Plus they only have a handful of $1 seats on offer before they sell out. Rubbish promotion - defintately no Oz Bargain
I rather wait for Tiger Air $10 sale and get 10% off from Jetstar. $9 well spent:)
Pathetic - seems like another money grab. Didn't Tiger do this? Hmmm…nice one Jetstar, you've just moved yourself into a rank shared by Tiger.
Personally I wouldn't go near it. Had bad experience with their Jetstar credit card.
Given Virgin has now effectivley taken control of Tiger the days of cheap airfares are coming to an end.
There is essentially now two carriers again and virgin plans to use Tiger on its less profitable routes (they have already announced mel-syd, syd-bris and mel-ool will be removed from tigers flight schedulde from 2014). This will mean if you are planning a trip on one of the more popular flight routes your choices will be Virgin, Jetstar or Qantas, by taking Tiger out of the mix this means flights will get more expensive.
Virgin CEO said he sees the day of the $9 flight coming to an end, Qantas have said that Jetstar is less likely to sell flights below $79 but are more likley to bring some "frills" back to their airline.Saying all this, having access to sales exclusively ahead of the general public is a big win.
and given that staff have had access to the sales them selves i can tell you that the deals are pretty sweet.$39 is a small price to pay to get the chance for a great deal.
frequent flyer used to be $75 to join, until Woolworth's got involved but every time someone joins through woolies they get that fee waived.
Then qantas waived it for everyone, saying that anyone with a Qantas FF credit card is paying a fee to their bank which in turn is passing some money onto qantas.
So the way i see it, $39 is quite good value considering. The staff deals are essentially, pick your destination and price
pick your flight (any flight) and book.I do not work for Jetstar, my co-workers sister does and from time to time have been forwarded the staff only sale info.

The joining fee is currently $82.50 for anyone unaware of the various free methods of joining, such as everyday rewards.
It's a bit slack that the $30 voucher must be used within 6 months.

Yes! Considering the major reason to join is the "exclusive" access to 4 sales a year, that would mean you would be lucky to see 2 sales in 6 months. As sales are for flights months ahead, you need to be very lucky to find a good deal in the first sale, to use the voucher on an "exclusive" sale fare. But you will then be competing with all the others who joined up for the same reason! Good luck using the voucher you paid for!!
" virgin plans to use Tiger on its less profitable routes (they have already announced mel-syd, syd-bris and mel-ool will be removed from tigers flight schedulde from 2014)"
Where/When did they announce that? If anything they appear to be increasing Tiger flights on routes.
http://www.ausbt.com.au/borghetti-virgin-australia-may-tweak…Also " Tiger Australia could focus on growing leisure and low-cost routes in the foreseeable future, such as on flights to holiday destinations such as Gold Coast, Hamilton Island and Cairns from both Sydney and Melbourne, while Virgin Australia could focus on improving yields on the high-end leisure segment."
http://www.aspireaviation.com/2013/05/06/the-best-is-yet-to-…It sounds like you're lapping up Jetstar/Qantas PR & sprouting it as fact.
If an OBer does join, hopefully you will post the "exclusive" deals, so we can decide whether to join up to get the sale fares. But the flaw in that is the voucher can take up to 14 days to be available :(
I am waiting for $1 flights in July!!
First year Annual fee is waived, but you still have to pay the joining fee $39.
BS.
