Piece of advice don't buy the cheapest luggage that you can get your hands on

    • +7

My advice is buy the cheapest sturdiest luggage you can get your hands on. It's all going to get banged up by luggage handlers anyway, as long as it's tough it'll do. I switched to 4-wheel-light-thin-hardshell cases and I won't go back. Yeah they get scratched, but better that than a tear. They're great when it's raining too.

      • Would it be possible to pack 20 kg in the mid-size bag. It seems to be very small according to the measurements. Even the smaller one seem to be much smaller than the other fabric hand luggages.

  • Luggage? Wow. Seems cheap.

I need a large Case, but sure what to buy or what to spend. I fly every few months, and stay in a hotel once a week, so would get some use.

    • Ever fly overseas? I've found hardside luggage to be much cheaper in Europe / Asia / North America than here

      • Thanks but I don't think that's a news for most of us who live in here and bother checking online prices from overseas. It's not just bags almost everything is cheaper overseas.

looks good for the occasional interstate traveler or road trip

I would never buy luggage with zips. Do some youtube / lifehacker searches and see how easy it is to open and then close it again without trace, even with a padlock on the bag.I travel only a couple of times a year but swear by hard cases with hard locks, no zips. And there is no other option than 4 wheels as well, I could never go back to two wheels, 4 wheels are the only choice. My thin light hardsheel 4 wheel cases (same as muncan) is all banged up, scuffed and smashed around, but still going strong after years and years.

    • or get one with zips where the zips are locked in place via a lock…

only stops them closing it again, just as easy to get in

Other than packing in a vault, all luggage is easy to get into to steal stuff from.
I'm just more worried about someone putting something in it and closing it back up so you become an unwitting mule.

  • Orange looks nice (from a pure aesthetic perspective)
i also like when bright luggage easy to spot on the luggage carousel

    kogan brand luggage? LOL!

  • Skeptical on the quality but its an incredible price for 3 hard cases. Not sure how much they'll be after the presale but it may be worth paying $20-30 extra and seeing some reviews first just to make sure your not stuck with a lemon.

  • c'mon kogan where the tsa lock!

  • Weight: Small Suitcase: 2.6 kg, Medium Suitcase: 3.5 kg, Large Suitcase: 4.2 kg

    How does this compare?

    • Average to bad, I only use soft luggage (which will normally be heavier than a good composite hard luggage) And even my biggest bag is only 4kg. (Its waist high) a decent bag in their large size would be half the size and 3 times the price. I suspect these are plastic and I wouldn't go near them. Cheap cloth bags have handles and wheels fall off. Cheap hardcase split in two and throw your gear everywhere.

      • Cheap cloth bags have handles and wheels fall off.

Had that happen on my last trip, luckily the wheels only came off when I arrived back at Syd airport!
        Can't imagine the trouble I'd have moving a 20kg case around abroad…

Gonna go with 4 wheeled hard luggage in future.

Any samsonite 'clones' out there that are lightweight?

      • I recently bought a "lightweight " antler large material case. only 3.5kg but i needed the extra weight saving for a trip and radio equipment i was taking and my previous case was 6kg,
sure it cost $175 on special at myer so not a comparison to the kogan but you need to pay extra for "lightweight quality"

However for general use it looks like these are reasonably "good value".

Most "carry on" is only 7kg so the small one at 2.6kg it doesnt leave much.

  • The little guy looks a bit like R2D2.

Do they pack within each other?

… Jesus, Kogan's name is on them. He won't employ anyone unless they have a gmail account. I don't want a tool who thinks like that putting his name on my stuff.

One of your many stickers from ozbargain freebies would soon fix his name. You could even make some fancy ones on vistaprint the next time they inevitably do $30 coupons.

  • Just bought some.. Delivery not until June so will not be able to comment in quality until then.

If you're looking for more pictures I dare say this is a supplier of the same luggage set (bar the Kogan branding of course).

    • Minimum order 680 - lets do a ozbargain group buy :)

  • Are hard cases inherently non-expandable? I prefer to have extra space if needed.

  • +1

These just arrived and yes they are plastic and cheap.. For the price cannot really complain and will very useful for road trips and as carry on luggage but not sure how they would cope via check in…

Hindsight spend more for samsonite and use them for a lifetime…

    • Thanks for this review. Saves guesswork.
