Great keyboard. Still find it better than Swype (although arguably not comparable).

The only thing Swype is better for is probably Chinese typing which doesn't even exist on SwiftKey.

    • +1 Swiftkey is awesome

    • I would love to see Chinese support but I think they're excluding it on purpose. Dunno y though, currently using Baidu input. I really wanna give them my $1.99!

  • +1

Damn just bought it two days ago for my new phone :(

    • +1

Remember guy if you have bought the old version of Swiftkey you can simply update it, or if you have it on any old phone, you can reinstall it on the new phone.

I went in to buy it and realised it said installed.

Good price but I wish they also included Tablet support in the one package, bit of a cop out you have to buy both considering Swype is currently $1 and works for both.

    • The "non-tablet" one works fine on my Nexus 7

You don't know what you're missing then.

  • What is the different between the swipe keyboard inbuild in Galaxy S3, Note 2, S4 ?

    • I'd suggest you try the trial for yourself and see.

I can't comment on SwiftKey but have found lots of differences between Swype and the S3 keyboard. I've just switched from Swype Beta to S3 stock and found them quite different especially for words that have apostrophe's in them. The samsung keyboard also is annoying when entering punctuation as the popup needs to be dismissed before continuing.

  • Cheers. My free trial was ending soon.

    The best keyboard.

  • Where/how do you get the purple keyboard pictured??

    • +1

Should be in the Themes options

    • +1

      Keyboard theme.

      • I see cobalt, berry, sky, fuchsia, holo, dark, light, neon and pumpkin….the purple-st one I see is fuchsia, and thats more like pink with white background D: Swiftkey 4.0.1.128 is the newest one right?

        • +1

4.1 just got released and there's a new theme called "regal" which is the one you're looking for :)

        • Found it, thanks! Hmm purple is actually quite bright!

  • It is a perfect keyboard, bought it for 1 cent last time during summer sales.
The only cheapest apps I paid for ever yet the most used apps! :)

    • +2

hey you mean 10 cents ?
or did I just loose 9 cents, You are making me feel bad.

    • Over $1000 dollars in apps and related content here. Thank you Telstra :)

      • Hey I was wondering how the billing to telstra works on my post paid account? Do I get like a certain monthly credit to use? Or does it get added onto my bill at the end of the month?

    • I feel the same about petrol, it is why I siphon it from cars.

  • Been using it for about 1/2 a year, and all i can say is… it's life changing! Chuck Norris Approved! http://www.gamereactor.eu/media/ug/38/73890.png

I wish there were an option to keep the number keys in a separate row so you don't have to hold down a key to get a number, or toggle into numpad mode.

My native keyboard has numbers separate and I would prefer to keep that but also gain the Swiftkey predictive text. Sigh.

    • I've been using Swype after swiftkey caused be a lot of frustration when typing domain names in. Swype was 99c and is so much better imo

      • Same frustration as well. Due to the things I do I often need to type in domain names / hostnames a lot. something.com often becomes something. Com and even going back to fix it is a bit tedious.

        • Interesting, that's always happened to me on Swiftkey too. I've put up with it because I obviously don't type in domain names as much as you but it is a cause of frustration when you're in a hurry and it does that.

Still an avid supporter of Swiftkey though.

        • I'm an ASP.NET developer and whenever I type "ASP.NET" it often becomes "ASP. NET" and I need to remove the space.

I still really like SwiftKey though.

  • Excellent keyboard. Tried many others but this has the best learning function.

  • just tried the trial… sold… this is cool!

It's always the first app I install every time I change to a new Android phone :) love it.

Especially since I'm using 2 languages at the same time simultaneously and how it manages to catch and record my slang and words that I normally say. Simply an awesome app

    The Flow is flawless too

  • Question for whoever knows…

I'm stuck on Swiftkey 4.0.1.128 for some reason and I see no "update" option in the app itself. If I install 4.1 from Google Play, will I retain all my settings or will it be treated as a fresh install?

    • +2

      It will retain your settings

      • Thanks, just did the install and it silently updated to 4.1.

  • Lots of positive feedback here, I am going to buck the trend. This thing is an utter pile of ****

I picked it up at the last sale and I think it is 10x worth that the built in android swiper. 99x out of 100 it gets the words wrong I want to use, it does not allow you to turn auto fill off, its learning is a joke, I use words over and over but it still wont recognise them.

I am not alone in thinking this. Go to the googleplay site and see the back up and google for the auto fill issue, there are a ton of complaints about it. If I could get a refund for it I would!

    • The word detection code for swyping in swiftkey is inferior to swype.
The word PREDICTION code overall in swiftkey is quite good.

I prefer my phone to type what I want, when I want, so I use swype.

  • I find its flow/Swype copy feature better, and more appropriate, compared to Swype on ICS. I don't have JellyBean yet, and i've heard the Swype is improved on JellyBean, but I love it compared to ICS Swype (SGS2)

  • +3

My experience is for pure swipe, Swype is better plus its got chinese support.

Swiftkey is great for the tradition punching key and word prediction

    • I second this, was using swiftkey until I discovered swype which changed how I 'typed' text. Can't go back to typing but went back to swiftkey when flow came out to get the best of both worlds… discovered I didn't really type much at all so I'm now back on swype, the accuracy of swype is unrivaled

  • Tried it for a week, had to go back to swype, the recognition engine is just superior.

  • tried to buy this but realised I bought it during that massive sale last year!

  • With swype you have to push 3 keys to get the dash "-" symbol which I use a lot, in beta it was one only one key. Very annoying, besides that very happy with swype. Pretty funny watching a touch typist type in swype without looking at the screen at all.

    • +1

With swype you have to push 3 keys to get the dash "-" symbol

      Long press , key?

      • Thanks Scotty, not sure what I was thinking. Swype in email writing needs two or three key presses to get a dash, but not elsewhere.
