D-Link DIR-865L Cloud Gigabit Router $129 at DickSmith

2911

User edit 0740 9/5/13: Price adjusted. Now $129 ($29 after cashback).

Edit 1100 10/5/13: Cashback exclusion list now includes DSE. Purchase at your own risk.

Edit: Here is the reply from D-Link via email: "This new Ts and Cs only applicable for any purchases from 10/5 onward".

Edit: Here is a clearer cut-off point, straight from their again-updated terms and conditions: "Limit 1 per person per household only. Excludes Officeworks, Dick Smith, E-Bay & Unauthorised E-Tailers, applicable to all other retailers and channel and cannot coincide with any other offers. DIR-865L purchases from Dick Smith after 10/5/2013 10am AEST will not be eligible for this offer (previous purchases before 10/5/2013 10am AEST will be honoured)."

So that is it. The deal technically expire now since they no longer offer cashback for purchase from dicksmith. HOWEVER, REMEMBER THAT YOU CAN ALWAYS PRICEMATCH AT JBHIFI OR HARVEY NORMAN, IF YOU CAN FIND STOCK AT DICKSMITH

Basically, the same deal at Dicksmith at http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/101972 but D-Link just have their new cashback promotion where they give $100 Cashback to purchases at ANY AUSTRALIAN STORES (except Officeworks).
I have checked dicksmith stock around Melbourne and plenty have stock.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  • Limit 1 per person per household only. Excludes Officeworks, E-Bay & Unauthorised E-Tailers, applicable to all other retailers and channel and cannot coincide with any other offers.
  • You must print out the final step of this on-line redemption form, signed and attached the copy of proof of purchase before posting it to D-Link. Unsigned form will be rejected.

      • So you didn't manage to get one?

  • +1

I missed the unicorn by over an hour.

If any one's in Yeppoon, central QLD post code 4703 the store stock indicator is showing as in stock at the Yeppoon store. Also low stock at the Rockhampton store but probably just the display stock there.

    • Emerald had stock when I first checked too. Now it is low stock

  • Looks like any of the Dicksmith i tried to call in VIC are not answering their phones at the moment… Maybe because of this?

    • 4206 clicks…

      I would say so.

    • +1

Wouldn't be surprised if they reserved/hid stock for themselves.

  • None of my local DSEs have it. :/

  • Got one on hold. Thanks OP.

If anyone in Brisbane area, Stafford City has one left but wouldn't allow reservation.

    • +1

Might be because a staff member has already asked for it.

    • Just called… gone.

  • Got the last one at Dandenong Plaza VIC hehe

Springvale last one got sold before I arrived.

    Parkmore No stock

    Brandon park no stock

  • Try your luck at JB I have just got mine there.

    • edit…..dumbass

      • JB sucks. They won't price match anything even you got JB receipt. You will beg like cheap begger!

  • +2

Can we get a copy of the receipt for those who managed to get price match at JB? thanks

  • +1

JB North Sydney wouldn't price match because "everywhere is out of stock" and "if they were in stock, I would have grabbed one myself".

    • You should show them somewhere are low stock not out of stock.

      • +2

I did. They'd already called that store to confirm that low stock was actually no stock.

I only got as far as "I was wondering if you'd price match Dick Smith…" before he completed my sentence and mentioned the D-Link, it definitely sounds like they've been swamped with pricematch requests.

  • 1 left at Wynnum, QLD (couldn't set aside mine when I called)

    • that is bizarre. I rang maybe 30 minutes ago, guy put the last one aside for me, I have just sent hubby to collect it. Wonder if it makes a difference since I am female and begged?

  • No stock near Canberra it seems. Can anyone actually price match this with JB Hifi

    • -1

Yes, I matched at JB Woden, no problem

  • -7

    Lets start something new.

Anyone want to sell for $99 with receipt. I would like to pickup at Sydney CBA. Send me private msg :)

    • +4

$99 with receipt are you kidding? What is the point to sell it to you?

    • yea… ppl can get at least $100 from it with a free router

      • He should said $99 without receipt.

    • +4

      LOL

How about this: I sell you mine $1000 with receipt. Private msg me if you are keen!!!

      • -3

OK price increase to $101 with receipt

    • +3

I will sell it for $99 with receipt after I get my cashback. is that ok?

      • Claim the cash back first and sell it to him.

  • All I had to say was "dlink", and they said "sold out".

But there's still another month left in this, so couldn't DS get more stock?

    • +1

Supposedly its on clearance, so they will not get any more in stock. Unless they had some laying around in some shady corner in their warehouse.

  • Stock at Armidale & Tamworth NSW when I looked and reserved one :-)

  • I could have actually used this router. Anybody in Perth want to keep the rebate and sell theirs?

    • You in the CBD?

    • hey mate check your pm.

  • None left in syd CBD. Fyi

  • +1

Just got a BS call from Adelaide CBD stating that he could not find the item in the store even though it's showing that there are three available stock in their inventory.

    • +1

Yes I got the same call from them, dodgy buggers keeping them out the back for themselves. Are they liable for click & collect?

      • Probably not worth the effort. Can't be bothered, tbh.

        • +1

I had that happen to me as well but I was in store when it happened and the guy actually called someone asking where they were, went out back and told me they had none…seemed suss too.

  • JB Hi-Fi says 2-5 days for pick-up at most stores. Does this mean they're getting stock soon?
Also waiting for the JB receipt.

  • +3

I have 1 reserved at Bribie Island DSE, but was able to get JB HI-FI in Brisbane CBD to price match. Going to cancel my order, but PM me if you want it as I have no need for 2 routers.

    • You have PM's disabled. Enable it and I'll PM ya, or PM me.

Can you pick up more than one from Brisbane CBD? I work in the city. Can meet up with ya.

EDIT: Or if you're giving the router away, I'm happy for that too :D

      • I'll send you the details for my Bribie Island pickup. I'm keeping the one from JB in the CBD.

  • +1

Called four local places marked as 'low stock' - As soon as I said I was after a router they immediately said they are out of stock for this one, haha. You guys have raided everywhere!

  • +2

I priced matched at my local JB's. There was still stock at my local DSE at the time though. The sales guy wasn't fazed at all, just had to ask the manager as it was well below their cost price, who gave it the all clear. http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/68325/16230/img_2659.jp…

Mod: Changed receipt image on OP request

    • We have three JB receipts now in this thread. Actually the one from JB is newer packaging.

      • Can you use these to price match other JB's?

        • Yes but depends on who you are talking to and which store.

  • Some in stock at Muswellbrook NSW according to the dicksmith website.

  • Grabbed one asap, Dick Smith just called me and told me they can't honor my order because although their system said there was stock they couldn't find it. good work guys.

    • Was that Adelaide by any chance, they've pulled the same stunt on me.

  • +2

Ashfield NSW says low stock, but don't call. Guys sounded pretty pissed off - seemed like he had heaps of calls. No stock :(

    • +6

Sounded pissed off about having to do his job?

      • +7

Pretty typical Aussie retail service there :)

      • +2

Or pissed off because he can't hoard if someone always ask for it

  • +3

I just bought one which had been a returned item. What happens if the person returning it went in with the cash back offer before returning it?

    • Try and register it. If it rejects the serial, return it.

      • It didn't reject the serial so I'm guessing I'm ok.

    • +2

If he did that, he is a true professional hands down!

  • Just picked on up from Kingaroy, Thanks OP.

  • +5

    Got one!

I just wish I could see the face of the person who opens Ozbarganers cash back claim mails!

    Amount Paid: $85

    Cashbask eligible: $100

    WTF!??!!

    LMAO :D

  • By reading ozbargains this week I almost bought something every few days lol ….

  • +1

Successfully price matched and got one from Harvey Norman…will post a receipt if people need it. They had 2 units left (1 new one, 1 with dented boxed and no seal). Applied for cashback as well!

    • receipt please

      • How do I post s receipt from an iPad?

    • Which Harvey Norman? How did you do the price match?

      • Broadway shopping mall, Queen street Brisbane CBD. Went in and asked for price match with the sales guy and they said yes. Only thing is now I went back there 5 minutes ago coz a friend wanted to get one and they're all out of them.

        • +1

probably taken off floor until dick smith sells out

        • I wouldn't be surprised

    • Receipt Please.

  • how much are they at jb? and which routers does this deal apply to?

  • lol at the price being $297 over $200 difference…

  • Yay, just grabbed one in Arndale Adelaide, got the last one!

  • trying my luck with local JB. He is checking the website for their price. I cant get past that page on DSE website without it freezing so hopefully he will find it too difficult and give it to me at that price. Mother in law needs a wi fi router. Mother's day sorted (and I get paid for it) :)
EDIT No can do, they wont go below $200 :(

  • Submitted my cashback form and got this reply, I think the marketing team needs a grammar checker.

    Dear XXX,

Thank you for submitting your redemption with us. To be eligible for this promotion please ensure that you have signed the form and posted it to D-Link together with a legible proof of purchase before the promotion cut off date.

If you have not print out the form, you can print it using the URL below:

    • They only need a copy of the proof of purchase so I would assume copy is OK, right?

I need the original for warranty and tax.

      • TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS OFFER:
Please print this form , sign and mail it
together with a legible copy of proof of
        purchase.

        • From where you see word "legible'? So far all my other case back offers I have only send copy.

Limit 1 per person per household only. Excludes Officeworks, E-Bay & Unauthorised E-Tailers, applicable to all other retailers and channel and cannot coincide with any other offers.

        • Once you complete the online form they give you a pdf to print out to sign.

      • Yes a photocopy is fine. I confirmed this with their HO just moments ago. If they wanted the original receipt they would have said original proof of purchase not copy of proof of purchase.

  • Victoria Gardens in Melbourne showed no stock on line. But had two in store on the clearance table.
I bought one, and there was one still one left an hour ago!

  • Got one & Posted the form across!

    • +3

remember to post it express so you can track it, in the worst case scenario, they can say they never got it but if you have a tracking number, they cant deny it.

This happened with me with the Braun Epilator cashback, they told me 1 of my claims was lost, i quoted the tracking number and they just asked me to email the tax invoice and adjusted the claim manually.

      • Registered post will be fine. Express is more expensive.

        • +1

either way, as long as you can track it

      • Good point

  • No luck at JB melbourne CBD, the guy said they can only price match if there were stocks at dicksmith. Showed him JB pricematched receipt from ciab too but still NO. I was told they would be making $160 if selling them for $84.50

    • Do you mean "losing" $160?
