  • Welcome back Mr Scotty !

Got an email at 11:16 am but did not post it because I got the feeling that you gonna post this one hahaha

    Have a nice day

Tried on an S430 (i7, 8G, 500G HDD) I bought yesterday for $96x (after back2school2013 was $903), and the price is $1288. So it seems much more expensive than yesterday?

    • Yeah. The same S430 — i7, 8GB and 128GB SSD — was $899 when I bought it in December. Lenovo pricing has been fluctuating since February this year.

  • still no helix… am sure by 2130 will be out.. maybe..

  • i was thinking it might be Scotty……

  • How is it that these deals get LESS votes when it's 'just Scotty' that posts them!?!?
Mb Lenovo will pay me to post them so they get more exposure ;-)

  • what are your thoughts on the base model for ThinkPad Edge E330 compared to say, a HP equivalent model for the same price range? Looking to get one around this price range so this may have come up at the right time but I don't see what's so special about the Lenovo range to warrant the price?

Im using a E330 i3 gotted (?) at $450, pretty decent/solid for the price, can compare with other brands though …

      • "got". It's already past tense (has happened), so you don't need the "ed" at the end. The present tense version of "got" is "get".

(I think that's why you put the question mark after gotted, anyhow).

yep, drunkenness got the best of me, anyhow, can was meant to be can't,
and getting back to the post, the regular 10% coupon code still works, I bought an extra 4GB for said laptop for $45, not a bad price …

    • I would point to reputation… HP trends to build decent laptops but they are often plagued with short battery life and cooling issues… Lenovo on the other hand has a reputation for quality and reliability. That said my sister's Pavilion DV2000 managed to survive 5+years of service before the GT8400M expired… But then again this was a high end laptop when it was purchased. My Compaq (HP twin) was repaired twice (motherboard) in the first two years, had both its battery and charger replaced (expensive out of pocket) and mysteriously stopped working after 4yrs. This was a budget laptop at the time and I was very thankful of the extended warranty. It had two motherboard replacements in the first two years…..

I've moved on and am using a good ASUS U36SD and had a MSI U100 in between. I would stay away from HP if I could help it but lenovo is a brand I keep checking on in case the right mix appears

      • IBM has the reputation for quality and reliability, Lenovo on the other hand has done little to maintain that.

Like you i keep checking, then get demo unit. I am always disappointed though even the x1 carbon was average.

I'll say one thing for Lenovo they brought System updates back!

        • just wanted to point out that the few laptops lenovo bought from ibm was the thinkpad t, x business series and probably drafts.

the reliability reputation is almost solely from t series which in the past was built splash proof with proper drainage points, magnesium alloy lids and frames. next business day on site service.

  • Can't be bothered to post again, as Lenovo has extended this coupon code for this weekend as well. Note this expires on 30 April.
