24c each for straws? Even at 2 for 1 I think you might have misjudged the audience here.

can you provide a link to the same product for a cheaper price?….
      Otherwise your neg is pointless….

        • well done that man!……
          (or woman….)

Well, you'd be crazy to use aliexpress. It's full of sheisters.

Edit: Well, I'm thinking of Alibaba, whom allow anyone to list anything (the problem is many of the 'anyones' are dodgy and dont actually intend to send the goods out). And alibaba run aliexpress.

          Edit2: Backup link for proof

          http://www.chinalawblog.com/2011/02/alibabaisnotyourchinaans…

Apparently they are working on fixing that. Make of it what you will (and good luck!)

I've bought a few things on Aliexpress successfully. I hear ebay also let anybody list anything.
And the ATO will let you get an ABN after just filling out a web page, won't anybody think of the children?! [clutches pearls, faints].

        • Ebay has a scheme that, whilst not faultless, works a million times better than alibaba at protecting the buyer. Also I edited my post with a link you might want to read :)

The ABN thing is a joke. I'd say it's also in the wrong.

        • I read about the alibaba fraud issues at the time.
Putting down $7 for a box of straws paid with a paypal is pretty low risk.
Would you really choose to pay the extra to "Phil and Lill" the online baby market who showcase "Lillian"'s store, a seller with zero sales or feedback.
If it is just risk that is the concern I'd rank them pretty equally and save a few dollars.

        • AliExpress is fine, I actually prefer it to DX (and it's often better than eBay too). I've found that it's full of nice people who will do what they can to help and really want to leave a good impression.

You need to adjust your expectations, and your conduct. You're dealing with people who have a very different business culture to ours, and whom rarely speak english well, if at all. If something does go wrong, be fair and reasonable and don't be an asshat with bad feedback and unreasonable demands, and everything will work out nicely.

You need to be very very careful to make sure that you understand each other, that there's no possibility that you, or they, have misinterpreted each other's intent and speak clearly and simply.

Use some common sense and human decency and you'll find that AliExpress is actually really bloody good. (China Post and Hong Kong Post are RIDICULOUSLY slow, though!)

    the price is not beautiful.

it's cheaper than ebay though (for similar paper straws)
    but yeh… kinda junk-ish

  • The junk shop near my house sells these for $1-2 a pack.

  • Actually the price is rather good on a comparison basis, last year I was pricing these straws thru ebay and other online stores and they were $12 for a pack of 24. However the reject shop have them for a $1 (not sure how many in the pack though)

  • you were pricing straws? why?

Takes bargain hunting seriously. Good show.

    • For fun of course! ;D

Child's birthday party. I was thinking of doing the trendy glass milk bottles with paper straws thing. Turns out plastic straws are cheap cheap cheap but paper straws are ridiculously expensive.

  • Free straws at any fast food outlet.
