Can this make photos better than my Nexus 4?

    • +3

I'm no camera expert, but considering this is considered one of the best point and shoots, I'm going to assume yes.

      Short answer- yes.
      Long answer- yeeeeeesssssssssss!

      ^^ wrong
      ^ and wrong
this is not a photoshop program nor does it have any post enhancing features to make photos better
if youre asking whether it takes/captures better photos than your nexus 4, then the answer is yes

I don't see where they asked whether the RX100 edits better than a Nexus 4, and I doubt they would ask this anyway considering the Nexus 4 doesn't have post-processing functionality as it is- therefore a question comparing a non-existent feature would be irrelevant.

Although they phrased the question rather ambiguously with the word 'make', I think we can safely assume they meant capture better photos, in which case we were correct in saying yes.

You can download many different apps to make photos better on the nexus 4 so therefore it does have post processing functionality

        • -1

Well in that case you could download apps on a $29 Telstra Uno and that would make it a post-processing device also. But I hardly think anyone seriously considers either as a viable option.

Either way, if you're comparing the overall 'making' of photos between the N4 and RX100 (considering composition, capture and post-processing), I'd say the RX100 wins out 99.999% of the time.

  • So much money for a point and shoot!
Admittedly a good camera by all accounts, but rather on the expensive side.

    • The RX100 is a great camera, and it's nice to see Sony developing something really good in the P&S range after doing well in the mirrorless systems.

With that said, I agree that it's a bit pricey and wouldn't recommend it for your everyday photographer (unless they have unlimited budgets!)- it's overkill. Plenty of great cheaper options like the Panasonic LX7, Canon S110, Olympus XZ-1/2, Canon G15. All these lie within the $300-400 price range and have varying pros and cons.

  • Great camera, bad deal.

Cheapest price is EGlobal for the Sony RX100.

    Kogan- $539 Camera +$29 Shipping= $568

    EGlobal- $519 Camera +$39 Shipping=$558 Less $10 with CHK10 = $548 Shipped.
