Fresh Roasted Coffee Beans $7/200g - Backyard Roasting Boutique - Pickup at Coorparoo, Brisbane

83

Hi Ozbargain!

My name is Matt and I'm just a Brisbane Med Student that has a major coffee addiction. I'm the head roaster for Backyard Roasting Boutigue and I guarantee you the freshest coffee beans in Brisbane at a fraction of the cost of the bigger chains.

I have a wide variety of single origin beans available from: Indonesia, Peru, Mexico, PNG, India and more. This list is constantly changing. I'm happy to make any sort of blend you request and I'm happy to make recommendations if you just want some beans that are going to taste good.

Unlike most of the larger roasting setups in Brisbane - none of my beans are roasted until a customer puts in an order - that way you get the freshest possible beans. The beans do need to rest to degas for 24-48 hours after roasting for optimal taste - but I'm happy for you to pick them up from Coorparoo anytime after they are roasted.

Any questions, feel free to ask :)

I think I was a bit vague on what I'm offering here, so sorry about that!

I'm offering small quantities of coffee beans so that they can be enjoyed whilst they are fresh - I understand you can buy larger quantites (1kg+) which would work out to be cheaper and if you want large quantities let me know and I'll beat their prices. But I prefer to offer smaller quantities so you can use it before it goes stale. The usual price is $10/200g so this introductory offer is $7/200g - 30% off.

  • What's the deal?

      Intro price of $7/200g

$35/kg pick up…..not much of a deal, in my opinion

        • +4

          It's not $35/kg it's $7/200g

I'm deliberately aiming to sell in only small quantities, because, unless you're buying beans for 5 people or you drink an incredible amount of coffee then you're not going to finish that 1kg before it goes stale. If you don't mind stale coffee then fine - buy 1kg, but if you prefer fresh beans at a low price in "non-bulk" quantities", then I'm here :)

  • +4

This is more like an advertisement..no apparent deal as it is the normal price you sell for.

    • +1

It's a promo price for the start - do you know somewhere offering cheaper, fresh beans?

        • +3

They are both for bulk quantities - if you see above - buying beans in large quantities is not feasible for most people who like fresh coffee.

If you want 2kg of beans I'll have it delivered to you for $37 which is cheaper than Manna beans. But I would recommend it.

I'm selling small quantities for people in Brisbane who want fresh coffee regularly and don't want to have to buy huge quantities to get good value.

        • If you look at Mannabeans, they charge $14.95/250g - hence my beans are cheaper.

Comparing 1kg shipped to 200g pickup is like comparing apples to oranges.

        • That's a great idea. I am sure there would be buyers here for 2 kg for $37 delivered. I will buy 2kg's. Put THAT up as a deal!

          Hey Mate,

Just tried to post the deal for it and it wouldn't let me as there's a limit of 1/24hrs.

Here's the details I wrote up though:

          Hey Guys,

You commented I listened! So here's the deal for bulk beans (BRBAus signature blend) - 2kg delivered for $37 total.

This is a one-off special for 2 days only as we usually only operate within Brisbane for pickup orders.

To make an order follow these instructions:

          1. Like Backyard Roasting Boutique on facebook (OPTIONAL - Not required for purchase)

          2. Send me an email: [email protected] with your requested quantity of roasted beans.

          3. Await reply email with invoice / payment details.

          Matt

        • Would love to try your beans, however the 'like' required on facebook wasn't mentioned. I don't ever like anything on facebook unless I believe in it, my credibility is worth more to me than a good coffee deal. If you are prepared to honour the deal without the like, I promise to like your facebook page if the coffee is good.

        • +1

          Sure,

          The like is optional :)

    • +1

Sorry mate, I should have included the normal price - which is $10/200g.

  • +1

    Still a good deal.

I'd buy if you were in Sydney.

$35 /kg Pickup from Coorparoo, QLD vs $25 /kg Delivered Australia Wide http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/93570
Not much of a deal, is it? Plain Advertisement to me.
I have to neg this as you don't tell us why it is a good deal, Regular Price and Deal Price etc.

    • Again, that price $25/kg is for buying in large quantities - if you buy 1kg of beans and finish them before they go stale, then great… keep buying them in that quantity… but I'd be willing to bet most people buy 1kg+ of beans to get a good price and then they're only fresh for the first couple of weeks :)

    • The link you gave was to buy 1kg. I'm selling 200g.

The lowest quantity available from Baybeans is 500g in which case they charge $26.70 delivered. which is still more expensive than my beans :)

  • What are you normal prices if this is a deal. As stated above, many places are cheaper for fresh beans.

    • +1

      Hi,

Sorry Denwol, I should have included my normal prices. It's usually $10/200g.

And no-one has given me one link where I can buy 200g of beans for cheaper. Only cheaper for bulk in which case I can beat those bulk prices anyway.

  • +4

I'm not going to criticize the deal as $7/200g is a good price for small amounts - ByronBeans charge $8.90 + post. But I go through about 250g/week, so for me to drive 25mins each way across town every week to pick up fresh coffee from Coorparoo just isn't worth it. I did drive to Harold's(?) at Coorparoo once for 1kg and that was a hassle. So, I'll continue to buy it in 1kg or 2kg packs and put up with not 100% fresh. Put up a 1kg deal, and I'll consider that. Thanks anyway

Thanks very much Peter! I appreciate you taking the time to explain your logic and agree with what you're saying, if it's out of your way then its hardly worth it for such a small quantity.

I'll definitely look into offering larger quantities in the near future so keep an eye out.

Why is there so much negativity. My family, (4 people) can only go through 500g of beans a month. Thus guys prices are pretty darn good for small quantities. Buying bulk doesn't work for some people and items.

    • Thanks Mike!

  • +2

Good on you, bro. 200g is a good quantity.

    • Thanks Mark! Yeah it works for me, whenever I roast any more than that for myself it loses freshness but the time I finish it.

I love the smell of coffee yum, good deal and idea.
