The pricing on this looks decent compared to HN and JB. Also does anyone recommend this brand.

Harvey Norman $994 http://www.harveynorman.com.au/onkyo-tx-nr515-7-2-channel-ne…

Jb Hifi $993 http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/home%20theatre/amps-receivers…

This model is the TX-NR515 not TX-NR515AE. I think the difference is the AIRPLAY.

I have an onkyo (508) amp and it works very well; rocking 7.1 and has great sound quality; have recommended this brand to people in the past; as with most tech some people have had bad experiences, but mine seems to go from strength to strength.

  • Hell of a Receiver.

  • $299 at Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-NR515-7-2-Channel-Network-Rec…

Pity they don't ship here. Anyone have an idea how much it costs to send out a receiver via a freight forwarder?

and that the US model is 110V so incompatible with local voltages…

      • Plus the US radio frequencies will be different.

Bought one last night too. Was about to get the 616 from this deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/95274 but decided to go for the 515 after comparing the specs - seems to only miss out the unpowered zone 3 out that I'll never use anyway. Great price for an oz stock.

  • Does this model do airplay?

    • I think the TX-NR515AE does Airplay. From what I can see it doesn't. That's the only difference I can see between the 2 models.

      • Thanks. So JB and HN are selling the AE model and this is just the plain model.

        • HN is the TX-NR515 and JB's is the TX-NR515AE with Airplay from what I can see.

TX-NR515AE does airplay (audio only i think). but for the price difference you can just get an Apple TV, with a lot more features than just audio airplay. And with 8 HDMI inputs you can afford to lose one for it.

  • Good price. What is the warranty on this this model?

  • Awesome price, and it has 2x HDMI outputs so you can run TV and projector.

  • i have a onkyo Tx-84 receiver from the 1980's that's still going strong.

  • anyone bought this? did they fix the HDMI handshake issue? plenty of reports about that on Amazon reviews which may explain the price drop.
