Anyone know if these the new Seagate Goflex desk or a totally different line?
power cord is an issue with an amazon-sourced desktop drive.
$187/4TB is actually cheaper per GB, plus harder to get locally, so arguably a better deal.
3TB @ $130 is $43.33 per TB.
4TB @ $187 is $46.75 per TB.
How is that arguably a better deal?
4TB is more convenient to have around.
e.g. I'm sure you could get a 1TB hard drive for cheap these days but you don't have to have 4x1TB drives around if you can just get a 4TB one.
harder to get locally
The $130 excludes shipping cost (shows $13.43 for me).
So $143/3 = $47.81
c.f. $180/4 = $46.75
TBH I didn't check the 4TB cost or shipping last night, maybe the post wording is ambiguous/ misleading.
Seems costs have changed since anyway, numbers (shipped) now are
3TB = $150.90 = $50.30/TB
4TB = $191.17 = $47.79/TB
Just get some pliers and bend the plug prongs accordingly.
only works for rubber plastics, rigid plastics crack and then it gets dangerous
Just get some pliers and bend the plug prongs accordingly.
yup works for me on all types of plastic. never had anything crack or become dangerous. works a treat
price went back up to 129
Not bad on the 4TB. Price works out to be AUD$180 delivered.
from net someone said inside drive is (for the 4tb)

It has probably been mentioned below, but would there be any warranty on the drive if purchased from Amazon. I read Seagate's warranty policy (briefly) and it stays the drive has to be returned to the place of purchase. But it also states it can go to a authorised distributer.

For anyone that is interested, I reached out to Seagate, and you don't need to return it to the place of purchase. You just need to complete their RMA procfess and return it to their "collection point" which is in Botany.
therefore, if possible, try pricematch this with office works.
who knows….
keep insisting that it can be delivered to australia, you pay in AUD on amazon (bad exchange rate) and you happy to include shipping charges.
with 5% less, this should ends cheaper than pay in USD on amazon using 28degree

"If the identical product can be purchased and delivered via an online store for a total price lower than the one we are offering, we will beat that total price by 5%."
Definitely worth a shot! Officeworks have the 4TB for $239.
yeah no mention about australia/local only online store, right? that the key.
also with jbhf to try another luck

I went to Officeworks yesterday, and they said they didn't match Amazon because it was an overseas store. Given Seagate's response to my warranty question (above), Amazon looks like the best option.
Just bought a 4tb. Worked out ~179 with 28 degrees. Not sure why this is not getting more upvotes as this is the best deal at the moment for 4tb
Doesn't this come with the american power adapter?
Anyone that bought one of these, take a look at http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96919
