looks exactly like this one just without the brand name

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Farfisa-Keyboard-Electronic-49-Ke…

    Seems like a good price

  • Ordered one thanks

  • yeayuuurrrr got one!

  • Thanks! Soo cheap

    • Ah, after learning that it can't even play chords I cancelled my order. Pretty poor even for $19

      • holy moley, didnt know it couldnt play chords either
        thats a shame,
think i'm going to cancel mine as well

  • looks good, gonna order one

  • Got one. Thanks OP.

  • Got 1 myself. Now waiting for my 2 month old to get older to play …

  • How does this compare to http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/90246 ?

    • it's much better than the dick smith one. dick smith one i'm assuming is smaller (doesn't show dimensions) because it's battery operated. kogan's has 12 more keys, 2 more rhymths and isn't bad for a beginner. Whereas dick smith's looks like a child's toy.

      • i forgot to mention that kogan's has 12 months warranty. couldn't see the warranty on dick smith one.

        • +2

The Dick Smith one would come with a minimum 12 month warranty, it's pretty much Australian law that you get a minimum 12 months on any new purchase.

This deal was on a few months ago. My main question is whether it supports MIDI out.

    • +1

'assuming' its like the one on ebay then no it does not have MIDI out, only headphones and mic.

      • +3

Damn.. I was looking for a cheap throw-away midi device :P

    • +1

If you are the kind of person who needs MIDI, I wonder if you would be satisfied with the cheap feel of the keys on this quality of instrument, even if MIDI were available. I mean the target audience for this is kids and first learners.

      • Oh, I've got a piano for when I really want to play. What I wanted to do was to feel how midi on the computer worked, and whether I would invest in a better keyboard for it.
But it's true, it's a dirt cheap keyboard for people who just want to try out the piano.

        • MIDI is just a way of capturing key events from the player: note, duration, velocity, attack, decay, etc. The electrical interface is digital so that doesn't cause degradation. But as you can imagine, the mechanical characteristics of the keyboard will affect what gets captured. So you want a MIDI keyboard that is adequate for your performance.

  • Thanks OP, bought two - great Xmas gifts..

  • +2

I have no idea what for, but bought one anyway. Thanks!

    • Become a piano prodigy?

  • Wow that looks nasssty. Wouldn't expect much from this knowing Kogan and their low standards.

  • is the model touch sensitive? probably way off in prices but I've never touched a piano in my life.

    • +2

No freaking way. A lot of keyboards aren't "weighted" / sensitive until you go to the $600+ price range.
Wouldn't even bother as a beginner. I'm about to buy a keyboard to learn on (never played previously) but am looking @ $500~. No point getting a kiddy POS like this to actually learn on.

But, for the kids / toddlers to bash around on, for $20~ sure.

      • bought one from aldi a while back for under $100. think it was only $50 or something (a few years ago now).

And it had Midi, what else could you want?

  • Ahhh. So tempted!

  • Fantastic price !

  • Great price, was about to buy one but then the eBay descriptions show that it cannot play chords (3 notes at the same time). Bummer

  • Purchased. Thanks :)

OK price for a toy, but be aware that this is exactly what it is. It can't do chords for a start. Might as well get a Stylophone as it's more portable (http://www.crazysales.com.au/stylophone-original-pocket-elec…). If you want to learn to play, better off waiting for a deal on the likes of http://au.yamaha.com/en/products/musical-instruments/keyboar… - got one for around $100 last year. Yes, way more but 61 keys with decent feel, good sound, midi in/out…..

    • Where did you get the Yamaha for $100?

      • Catchoftheday as I recall. Usually stay away from them, but seemed a decent deal and although the box was a little worse for wear it turned out to be a good buy. I think it's popped up there a few times ('catchathon' promos, top 100 deals etc) over the course of last year. Would not surprise me if they still have a warehouse full of the things so it might come back…..

      • Amazon has the Yamaha listed as $100 but shipping would be a killer since it weighs around 10 pounds. Local stock at that price would be awesome.

  • Got one of this as a toy for my son. Don't expect too much from this. If you're thinking about learning piano with this one, well good luck.

  • +1

Don't see the point of keyboard that you can't play chords on. Even if you are learning from scratch you will need this very soon. Waste of money

    • Chords are the black keys ?

      • +1

very loose definition is pressing more than one key at the same time

        • Actually it will be this limitation so its not just chords but dual notes that it won't be able to handle. For those that are considering keyboards like this for learning, they are NOT suitable for learning. That should be removed from the OPs ozbargain description as chords are one of the first things that the child will need to learn.

Pretty dishonest of kogan to not make this limitation crystal clear in the marketing no matter what the price is. I found the info on another unmrelated site! I imagine a few people here were tricked into thinking this was a musical keyboard rather than a toy to bang on.

Plesae note, its RRP is similar to keyboards that are fully functional so what one would expect for that RRP price is a functional musical keyboard.

"A chord is a harmonic unit with at least three different tones sounding simultaneously." "A combination of three or more pitches sounding at the same time."

  • I got one thank you

  • Got one for my nearly 3 year old, will be great as a birthday present. Thanks.

  • -1

Don't care it can't play chords, got one for my toddler to bang on, what you expect for $19?

  • a perfect present to DISTANT friend' son…….feel like I really saved some money today….Did I?

  • Sold out. Please update to prevent other people getting disappointed :(

  • +1

Just received one. Not sure if it is the same thing but it seems to be able to play chord. I press multiple keys and all the pressed key notes come out together. Want to get another one for present but too late now. Sound quality wise is not so great but can't expect too much for $19.

  • +1

received mine also. It can play chords. Sound quality is quite average, but for $19 its great

  • HELL YEA, if it can play chords then YES <3

  • received, it can play multiple keys but sometimes it makes random sound o_0
ah well cant expect much for 19$ x]

  • I got mine too… don't have the random sound issue. Its got 1 year warranty so ask Kogan to fix it.

My 3 year old loves his… he sits there with the microphone and makes his own songs like a pop star :)

  • +1

Great item - better than expected my 3 & 5 year olds loving it

  • What does the timber button do? I press it and nothing happens.
