The RRP is normally $929 but Bing Lee have bought tonnes of stock and have a very good price on it at the moment. The bonus bag and battery promotion is dependant on store to store as some may already be out of stock. The store I work at has plenty left, but your mileage may vary.

Excellent little camera. Not high definition but great for beginners or those without a HDTV. Comes with Cyberlink software which is quite easy to use to turn recordings into DVDs. Very lightweight and stylish, if you're thinking about a new camera put this on your list.

I have owned a lower end model (the 30GB version) so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Disclaimer: I am a regular salesperson for Bing Lee and just thought I would share this bargain.

  • What's the best 'negotiation' down from the $599 we can expect to receive in store?

    • Honestly, these are very close to what we can do them for. I can't speak for all stores (since some may do quite a bit better) but I don't know if you could get it for much less than $580 - even that's unlikely. You may be able to get the extended warranty for $50 (usually a fair bit more expensive) for 5 years, depending on the salesperson.

Again, I could be wrong and you might be able to get it for $550. I think the real clincher here is the bonus bag and battery, it hasn't been advertised with the bonus but I know you can get it, so that's probably the best deal you can come out with.

Don't let it put you off though, negotiations can sometimes significantly reduce the already advertised price. It just depends on the product in question. There is no set limit (i.e. $5, $10) so it's at the discretion of your salesperson. Good luck!

  • two questions :
    1. which format is video on HDD ? DV avi or DVD ?
    2. would OW do price match on this one ?

    • Would be a true bargain if OW do price match, but I can nearly guarantee OW won't have the bonus bag and battery.

Format is recorded in MOD, which is a container for MPEG-2. Quite easy to edit. You're not recording directly to VOB if that's what you meant.

    1. according to manufacture's site video is stored in MPEG-2, so it is DVD. Is it a kind of difficult to edit DVD video compared to DV avi ?
  • If these are anything like the 1st generation Everio's they will save them as .mod (can be renamed to .mpg).
Mpegs are fairly easy to work with from my experience.
