lol bit sneaky having it as $99 and not offering the free ship. would have been a nice touch to have offered free ship on this anyway. tho i still like the fan/deal so will probably grab one up. cheers :)

do these needs to be wired back to a switch on the wall or can it just be wired into the old light socket power in the ceiling? i couldnt see an instruction/wiring manual on the site.

    • +1

I know what you mean about the shipping. It actually wasn't done on purpose. :)
However if you had to pay for shipping it is usually around $12.00 and even then it is still the cheapest in the country.

As for installation all you need is power, the electrician will then just wire it into the remote receiver and you are good to go. You don't need to run any extra wires down the wall.

to get around my free ship issue i just bought 2 fans. simple :)

one thing to note for anyone that buys them, they add on the shipping but take it off as a discount. was a little confusing caus i didnt really read it properly in paypal till after i clicked pay.. then read it again properly.

and for who ever downvoted my original comment above, please take that im context of the reps first deal he posted on here where he copped a hard time from me and others, but used what we said to fix his original deal and come back with good stuff since. my comment above was more a suggestion than a criticism.

        • LOL yep it was a learning cure.

As for discount, I totally agree with you. It is actually something I am currently looking at changing as you are correct it does cause some confusion if you don't know what you are looking at in paypal.

  • Was looking for one of these as my handy husband says it is easier to install something about the remote and the wiring, but I have seen one at Bunnings with remote and light think it was about $85 bucks I do not remember if they have stainless but is a better price

    • +2

For sure, there are cheaper Fans with Lights and Remotes out there just not this model.
You always need to compare Apples with Apples.
I think I know the one at Bunnings and it has timber or just plain metal blades.

Requires an electrician to install either way

  • Hi REP, is there timer function to tell these fans to turn off after a hour or two?

    • Hi.

This fan only has a basic light On/Off and fan control there is no timer function.
But having a remote means you can just put it next to your bed and turn it off when you choose.

Stainless steel blade fans are great for living areas and shift alot of air but don't buy one for your bedroom, they are quite loud compared to plywood blade fans

Just remember, by law you need an electrician to install fans. We're saving up our electrical jobs to make a visit worthwhile.

    • Very true, they need to give you a certificate with their license number once they have installed them to certify that the electrical work has been done to standard

    • +2

"by law" you need an electrician to swap a light switch in Nannyland.
Because it has a remote control, this is in almost any part of the world considered a DIY job (replacing a ceiling lamp) for anyone vaguely handy.

  • Can I buy this blade but instead of getting a sale saving $36 I have saving $34.99? i.e. I wish to pay an extra $1 for the fan

    • +2

Just buy a bulb for the light and you will get the free shipping

  • Are there any benefits of the 4 blade fan over the 3 blade fan?

    • +1

There is not a huge difference. In general most people make the choice due to looks.
The number of blades only has a very small impact on airflow as airflow is also determined by so many other factors.

        Like what?

        • +1

Stuff Like blade design, Blade material, Pitch of the blade, size and quality of the motor.
These all impact the overall airflow.

It really just depends on what you are wanting from your ceiling ceiling fan, it is finding the combination of looks, airflow and design that works for you.

        • Like air pressure.

  • Same size and specs fan (except not staino) for $65 delivered.

    • Specs are different the build quality and airflow is a lot less from that model plus the warranty is less.
There is a big difference between a white fan with timber blades and a stainless steel fan.
Hope this helps give you a bit more info.

  • Can this be used outdoors as it is Stainless Steel ?

    • As it only has stainless steel blades we don't recommend using it outdoors. While a lot of people do use it in say a patio area the warranty doesn't cover it for use in that environment.
However something to bare in mind, this fan is $99.00. To get a fan that is full 316 stainless steel with a remote and light will set you back over $300.00.

  • Hi Rep, do you know what type of adapter is for the light and how many watt (Max) bulb can be used?

    • Hi.

It takes and Edison Screw (ES) globe. We recommend using a fluorescent globe with it. You can usually get in about a 20W globe depending on the size of the fluoro.

  • Hi Rep, do you know the dimensions of this fan? Particularly, its height. I would like to have it installed in the living room with 2.45M height. Thanks

    • They are around 330-340mm from the ceiling to the bottom of the light.
They are designed to fit on a standard size 8ft ceiling.

Just looked in Bunnings Myself to see what the prices are and this is a really good deal, I might get 2 to help the evap on the roof, not so good in Perth on these humid days and I think some fans moving the air would be good.

    • Just bought two :D cheers.

      • thanks for the business.
I am sure you will love them.

  • @darthhasbro -you are so right
I was excited to get this and now very disapointed by how noisey it is now it's installed.
Every tip (and it's def. the tip only) makes a sound like channel 9 helicopter (no make that like a big chinook) and that's on low. When its winding up it's dead quiet until about a couple (5?)seconds before it reaches the max low speed rpm then it's all thook, thook, thook, thook, thook from then on. Thankfully it throws enough air on low as on high it's much worse still & impossible to hear the tv let alone sleep (it's over my bed). I can't hear my tinitus (which is pretty loud) when it's on medium or above….

    • Yer I just installed one and its rather loud, but thats the nice looking SS blades I guess.

      • Yep
        It looks fantastic.
can I run it off a dimmer?

I would only have to knock off a couple rpm for it to be great and it will still throw enough air…..

        • 99% sure it said no dimmer in the destruction manual.

if only low was really medium and there was a lower low it would be perfect.

for the one in the bedroom i might only put 2 blades on it and see how it is

    • Yes I noticed that low is not quite low enough, just needs to be a bit slower but Im not playing with the controller box :o
Such a good looking fan though, much better than the old 90s triple lights we had up so I can live with the noise.

      • Yes I noticed that low is not quite low enough, just needs to be a bit slower but Im not playing with the controller box

hmm… thats something i didnt think about. i still havnt installed my other one in the bedroom yet…… err…. by "me" i mean my qualified electrician……. :|

might have a look inside the remote receiver and see if theres anything adjustable or changeable inside it…..

  • Yes, there's no speed adjustment (bar 3 set speeds) on the receiver only its a 60w motor so a std light dimmer could possibly work, that's only a diac not triac but this world is not perfect

I read the instruction about no dimmer and see that could mean if you placed the whole fan on a dimmed circuit then it will cause issues. Doing it that way will affect the remote, fan motor and light (they recomended a fluro which can't be dimmed because fluro draws less amps through the remote to reduce the heating effect in remote).

I am thinking just a small reduction that targets the motor only utilising an internal installation of the dimmer inside the base so it reduces the motor only but not the feed to the remote and light.

Std dimmer will fit inside the base between the remote and fan motor plus will handle 300w (motor is 60W so will draw about 120(ish)W or a bit more with induction power factor but 300W is heaps). Doing it that way means at least it won't stuff up the remote by running that with a reduced voltage or clipped wave form and can still use a fluro. I doubt it would heat up the motor excessively. There's no cooling fan on the motor to run slower, just the transmission via the case so the motor would have the same cooling. Still its possible some undesirable electro-magnetic effect from using a diac (clips the back of the voltage wave) might heat the motor windings excessively.

Might take a punt, get my sparkie to fit one. If so would do before and after motor temp readings at 60 minutes of operation as well as a "smell test" as I can only access external motor temp. Easy to remove if undesirable effects result.

Sirplus whistles inocently as he has not already fitted the dimmer this afternoon and done the measurements and smell test already; nor found it worked beautifully. ;-)

I prefered another approach; to find better blades and fit them or cut these down but was worried about rebalancing it.

Air handling is my field of expertise. If the fold in these blades was tapered so it trailed off and so were reduced substantially towards the tip they would have been quiet as a mouse. It's an annoying design defect which would be very simple to fix at production….

    • That's a great Idea lol, didn't think of putting it between the fan a the controller and shouldn't affect the motor at all :)

I wouldn't put one of these in the bedroom though, we were warned (top posts) that the blades on these are noisy compared to the wood ones, still, Im getting a split aircon in the bedroom :p

    • A motor speed controller would be a better option than a light dimmer…

      • Yes
        I agree

  • I sell Air.
    What state are you in?

    • WA but Ive already bought one….
